Exactly! And he is in an even better position now than he was before since now he OWNS all his movies! Which means he is a millionaire now. When nobody would work with him, he sold his house and made a movie by himself called 'The Visit', which made $100 MIL at the Box office. Then he made another movie by himself called 'Split' which made $280 MIL at the Box office. Then he made yet another movie by himself called 'Glass' which made $250 MIL at the Box office. And he OWNS THE RIGHTS TO ALL THOSE THREE MOVIES, now do the math yourself. He IS the walking epitome of never ever give up. Watch the EXTRA TIP again, he explains his whole story from success to failure to success again.
I love how he could not get the rights to make a Marvel or DC franchise film, using all the same old characters. So he just invented his own super heroes. Of all he has done, some fantastic writing and movies, that, to me, is most impressive.
Exactly! He talks a lot in the video about extreme ups and downs in his career, really unbelievable how you can go from the best to the worst, to best again 🙌
This is actually the first time I learned M. Night came up with the Sixth Sense twist because he was already writing the couple not to be on speaking terms, rather than the other way around. Genuinely amazing, and actually explains how those scenes manage to feel so natural when they could so easily be contrived if written backwards from the twist. The "Happy anniversary" scene is so brilliant to watch, moreso when you already know the twist because you see how perfectly it works on both levels.
This is why you never give up. Life's full of up's and down's, if you quite while you're at a low point you cheat yourself out of knowing what the high points feel like.
In an interview Vince Gilligan says he talked to Bryan Cranston telling him he didn't need to be in his tighty whities if he was uncomfortable -for that first scene - to which Bryan Cranston responded: comfort has nothing to do with it. Reminds me of that... He was willing to serve the scene no matter what. This is the attitude real talented people get to succeed!
It's hard to believe a guy who had as much success as he has, doesn't have $5m in the bank. Did he really have to mortgage his house in order to pay for a fairly low budget movie or is he just embellishing the story?
