These really have an exceptional finish on them. Had no idea until recently when I saw a couple other seriously abused looking slides cleaned off only to look brand new without even any wear from carrying. (Even the areas where the wear looked like the person's shirt would have worn off the finish looked brand new after a good cleaning).
Yes, this one was not too bad, luckily we got to it early enough. A periodic quick cleaning and some oil goes a long way. I always recommend to people to wipe down a carry gun 'as needed' may be once a week - may be once a month. In a humid climate you would need to check it and give a once over every day. Also, this was stored in the holster which is asking for rust. I have seen a few nice guns that were hurt from storing in a holster. Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a great day.
Kills me to ever see that. I have a love hate relationship with Rugers, because I love some of their models, but those same models are extremely prone to rusting. I oil every single metal part I have (on or off, used or unused, new or old) every 6 months and never have any rust problems... except for Ruger parts. Brand new parts have finger prints rusted in them from the factory... screws and parts in the open all having serious rust and slides and bolts always seem to have some of the worst rust. I even had parts in baggies completely covered in oil and they still rusted. I never knew they had a problem until this happened and then I went online and found out that they're famous for rusting. Even though they have a blued finish, they rust like unprotected scrap metal out in a scrap yard. It's completely impossible for me to understand how such a big gun company would allow this to be their reputation.
Hi Maxx, thanks for stopping by and watching. I always like to learn something new myself. If I owned it I would have done a complete tear down, removing the frame pins etc. but it was just a thorough cleaning and oiling for my friend. Seems like a solid little gun. Have a great day.
Good morning John! I owned one of these for a few days!! I bought cause I couldn't get what I wanted. (Used) My friend working at shop called me saying they got in one I wanted and another customer came in to buy pistol I bought few days before. Would I want to trade? So I sold it and got the G42!!
I never paid much attention to them but now that I handled it, I like it. It is actually very similar to my Kel Tec P32. It is nice to hear from you man. Have a great day.
My gun buddy just turned me onto this / Well Done 👍 I also have the KeL-tech.380 pocket semi too - Do u do that one also? I’m always concerned w/ smaller guns with the small springs in them. Drives me crazy. lol
I have taken apart the 32 ACP Kel Tec. I am not familiar with the 380. There are instructions on line I am sure. When I am able, I will make a video taking apart the 32. Thanks for watching.
