This was a quick comparison video of m1 macbook vs macbook air 2017 sharing my experience of this upgrade transition. If you found it helpful, Please LIKE the video :)
I don't know why people are soooo concerned about a screen's viewing angle, nobody views a screen tilted. And, nobody wants other people looking after their shoulder and seeing what you're looking at. It is actually better if nobody can see the screen other than the user.
Might come as a surprise but people actually do use their screen's titled and not everyone likes to have their face into the screen, I'd rather sit back and relax with the screen slightly tilted. There's also a lot of times when you will have to show your screen to others for work or other stuff. So yes, its perfectly normal for people to be concerned about it
I totally agree with you.Even with my phones,I don't like people beside me looking into what I'm tinkering in my phone so limited viewing angles is favorable to me
@@sainishwanth1477 yeah. I like sitting on the couch and putting my legs up like a triangle then put my macbook on it. Impossible to do with the newer model, screen way too close to my face. I used to do it often with the 2017 air
I actually got the M1 MacBook Air. It's nice, and I really like the Touch ID sensor, the M1 chip, and finless design. This was a huge upgrade to my old budget Lenovo laptop
@@opfer1555 Ive got the m1 air it's literally like shaders on Roblox, I literally play the most realistic games and NO lag! I know its £1,000+ but wow its the best laptop ever!!
Still on my macbook air 2017! My only complaint vs. the newer macbooks would be screen resolution and battery time, however, I can´t really motivate buying a new one on a student-budget considering they´ll set you back at least 1000usd.
for people wondering apple removing the glowing logo was so that they could 1. make it thinner 2. since the glowing one was transparent if you shined a light on the back of the computer it would show through on the screen 3. match all their other products (iphone, imac, mac mini) so yeah its sad but hey at least we benefit from it at least a little
1) it did not "glow" it was just passing through the brightness from the screen, you yourself say it"s transparent so how could that possibly make any difference in thickness 2) so???????????????????????????????????????????? if anything it was good that you could light up the display from the back to check if the laptop was on if it's frozen on no brightness for example 3) still not a benefit
@@violetblue1251 in my experience it is, both my macbooks that have a transparent logo have the issue where light shines through. its because the logo used the same backlight as the screen
I still have my iMac Air that was a 2017 model that I gotten in the fall of 2018. I inherited my mother’s old iMac Air which is a 11 inch screen. The battery is bad in it and it did have a little swelling in it. Even one of the keys doesn’t worked is the O key. I do have a little problem when it is fully charged on my iMac Air when I took the cord out the laptop goes off automatically. I have to restart again. I still liked it to watch movies on it.
They took away your ports, your SD slot, your glowing apple, your better keyboard, your bootcamp support, made it harder to boot and log in, and charged you full price to do it. I kept my 2017 MBA and have loved the decision after listening to everyone i know that spent another $1000 just to be annoyed by literally everything about the M1.
who’s annoyed about the m1 tho? I’ve literally heard absolutely no complaints about it other than the SSD but that’s legit it, the m1 is actually so amazing in my opinion
I am using Mac 2017 and I also have Apple Watch 6 which helps in unlocking my laptop My laptop has multiple ports and glowing logo which is so beautiful and iconic I use on a min level so my laptop is very good for me and I will not upgrade I have iwatch AirPod pro iPhone and MacBook Air 2017 Overall Happy 😃
The 2017 model was pretty good with Catalina but with big sur (latest update) I feel there's a dip in the performance. You can still use it for such work but it's best to invest in the M1 air for future proofing. If you get the 2017 model under 50K then you may get it or use apple education discount and get the New one for around 83K.
Have both Mac Air 2013 (excellent condition) and Mac Air 2017. While they don’t have the newer processors and sharper display, they both work well and have 2 ports including the SD card slots which I actively use. Their SSDs are also replaceable as I just upgraded the 2013 Air’s drive. That’s something Apple is not doing for their customers anymore.
If it was childish and meant for 12 yr old then Apple wouldn’t even make it a thing on a device that is meant for professionals and students. Even ppl tried getting glowing logo on iPhones.
@@iVGaur Okay, thanks for the heads up. It's just I wouldn't use the new features/apps. So, knowing that Big Sur is 5-7gb larger, isn't good for the 128gb SSD in my MBA. I've got around 20-25gb left on Mojave right now and I use OneDrive extensively...
You said that the render times are a lot quicker on the new machine. Can you tell how quick they can both export the same/similar file? It can be even 1080p, just for reference.
I was talking about the 2020 early macbook with intel chip. Anyway you can get M1 macbook for around 75K if you can get it with gst invoice but for that you need to buy it offline and you need to have a business with gst no.
I bought the same Macbook Air in 2020 from the Apple store Refurbished section for school. I’ve had it 3 years still have apple care on it and used it for everything lectures, notes assignments, exams and watching shows. I love having all the ports, better keyboard, magsafe and the glowing apple logo. I might upgrade eventually if it stops working.
Yeah sure, I usually have two or three projects but still can manage as I don't have any other large files like movies, music etc... However the library (fcpx or iMovie) does get quite big so we need to delete files from time to time and keep stuff on external drives.
No, do'nt buy it unless you are getting it under 50K that too if you decided to go for macos. It started getting slow with big sur slightly. For a light user still it ca do the job but you can either get M1 mac or you will find a better windows atlternative.
Don't buy this 2017 model now, it's not worth the money and it's a little outdated compared to the competition. Get the Msi or M1 MacBooks if you really want MacOs.
@@TechPoojari There has nothing to do with Microsoft. Bootcamp isn't supported anymore because the M1 MacBook Air no longer uses an Intel x86 chip. It uses the Apple M1 chip which is an ARM based chip.
I meant to say if Microsoft offers support for their ARM 64 based windows for bootcamp then why not?? It's probably a business decision but hopefully, eventually might happen as well.
