After some disappointments with the M18 Fuel Compact Router, I decided to double down and get the plunge base. I hope you enjoy an honest, unbiased review.

Saw a video from an Irish guy with a similar complaint. He corrected himself after reading the manual and said the screw next to the clamp needs and adjusting. Cool idea with the bottle opener and magnet. Think I'll make one for my bar. Cheers!

Yep just seen same video myself, it seems people don’t read manuals these days 😅😅

I just bought the Milwaukee router and those templates that you are using and I was wondering if I actually need the Milwaukee attachment does it really make much of a difference?

It costs 4 times as much because it’s 4 times the tool. You say this at least 10 times in your videos. The materials used in construction of the Milwaukee are far superior to those used in the Ryobi. The motor is a much better motor. The batteries are better batteries. The router is fine, I’m pretty sure it’s the way you are using the router’s micro adjustment. The set screw on the clamp needs to be adjusted “properly” in order for the clamp to close snugly over the router. The micro adjustment knob shouldn’t be adjusted while clamped. All adjustments need to be made prior to closing. Go to “John McGrath’s Channel” to view his overview of the Milwaukee M18 Palm Router. He also thought he had an issue, even stating so in his video, until he corrected himself. I feel it’s worth you viewing.

Ivan will the milwaukee trim router fir the makita plunge base? I want to have really good dust extraction and it seems most fittings from 3rd party or 3d print communities etc are for makita with noone making any for the milwaukee. The standard piece for vacuum on the milwaukee is pretty crap too... one screw to fix it and it's not even near where the weight of the hose drags on it.

You need to tighten the Allen about a 1/4 turn on the fixed base. Once that is tightened the router is locked in and has zero movement - it won’t matter if you bump the micro adjustment when the router is locked properly. The Ryobi housing is plastic and the collet isn’t as good. It is not as accurate. By design it isn’t as accurate as the Milwaukee, DeWALT, Makita, Rigid, and FLEX. Even the DeWALT and FLEX ring moves when the router is locked - since they are locked it doesn’t matter if the rings move. So, yes, you are doing something wrong.

Can you please try that base on your Ryobi One+ trim router?

Hi Ivan, I would also appreciate you testing the base with the Ryobi router. Cheers Mike

Not sure if you solved the problem with the fine adjustment yet, but there is an screw on the clamp of that base you can tighten to make it from sliding up and down

I saw videos where the Bosch plunges the same way. I guess different brands take different approaches for what they feel is more ergonomic. I have an old plunge router where the lever acts as a lock, just like your Ryobi, but I'm actually looking forward to trying the lever on this adapter when it comes in. It seems faster and easier to raise and lower.

Does that Milwaukee plunge base fit that Ryobi router on your bench?

Micro adjust isn’t broken. Just unintuitive how to use it. See this video for an explanation of how to prevent travel in your micro adjust: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lsn9DhBiFB8.html

Would you say it's worth the purchase with the plunge base? I saw your other video and it was the first I'd seen saying anything negative about it but you seem much more positive with this attachment. It is real pricy but I'd save a bit of cash buying both together. I need a router soon regardless so I'm getting different opinions

If you’re using it mostly with, or only with the plunge base, then it’s amazing because the micro adjustment knob has no function with the plunge base.
