Macbook Pro 2018 i9 Unboxing & Update 

Finally someone said what anyone else did not. I'm a senior software engineer, and I would take slim and powerful machine any day of the week even if it is not performing on 100% of cpu capacity. I don't need a laptop that weight as much as my desktop.

Surely making it 5-10mm thicker wouldn’t bother you to much more, but it would aid the cooling solution so much more making it capable of running full power

How did you connect eGPU to Mac Pro? I thought it only works with USB-C not thunderbolt 2?

As someone who has a hackintosh that has run two Nvidia GPUs at once (or even Nvidia + AMD) for more monitors (6), I would recommend against it. The Nvidia Web drivers are fairly unstable if you install any more than 1 GPU (eg. 2 GPUs with monitors split across them) and it will cause WindowServer to frequently crash and boot you back to the login screen. It will also give very laggy performance when moving across monitors between the two GPUs and also when you use Mission Control / Expose. I don't have any experience with eGPU and native Mac hardware, but it definitely seems to be an issue with the Nvidia Web drivers and not the act of Hackintoshing itself. With just one Nvidia card (or AMD card), it runs perfectly smoothly. Figured I'd let you know to look out for that :)

Hello. excellent review!! I've got the iMac Pro 10x as my work machine but have just sold my 2016 15" 2.6 i7 laptop. I am thinking of just getting another 15" but not sure whether it's worth jumping from 2.2 6 core to 2.6 6 core, bearing in mind that most of my work is done on my completely maxed out iMac Pro 10x. Would love to know your thoughts on that.. I use Avid software mainly and for my photo work I use Phase One Software.

I got my first Mac book pro in February this year and absolutely love it. ive immersed my self in the apple world and got to say im really enjoying it after having android phones and windows machine. really does work seamlessly. looking forward to seeing the test you've got planned. is there a way you could talk us through how you do the setup as imm considering doing it ?

Welcome back man! I’d be interested to see how it performs connected to your setup. I’m still running a top spec r-MBP from late 2013, it’s still performing perfectly for my needs, I love that it still has MagSafe, a proper keyboard and a variety of ports. It’s silver because that’s the only option they offered it in, lol. I can’t justify spending what Apple is asking for a new one right now, I’m hoping Apple brings out an updated Mac mini with similar specs to the new MacBook Pro and hopefully a more generous I/O offering than the laptop, only then would I maybe consider upgrading to see how I could take advantage of a thunderbolt 3 eGPU. If Apple does bring out a Mac mini like that it would be really cool if you made a video on that. Anyways, nice to have you back, looking forward to your future videos, cheers from South Africa!

Keyboard review please

I wish I had money to burn like you to buy this knowing that it won't give me the performance that I'm actually paying for. I'm interested to see how hot this thing gets when on heavy load. Constantly high CPU temps can't be good for the internals of the machine over time.
