Best video I've seen on two of the best laptops in the market atm. But why did you say RTX A6000 when you spoke about Dell? It must be A3000 like the description below the video right? I am also curious how the version of Dell Precision that you tested would perform against the 8-core i7 version (same GPU). Thanks again for the extremely informative video and all the hard work you put into it.

This is for creative work only. Think about Engineering work, CAD, architecture work, Foundation engineering, Data Visualization, fluid simulation etc -- most of then engineering works, none of these softwares are available for MAC. Precision shines there too, along with the benefit of most of the games easily running on it. If you're not a final cut pro user and has no attachment to MACos, I see no reason to get a MBP. Windows users who haven't used MAC before, I see no reason to use any one of these MBP. Get a precision. Precision is just a beast with 12 gen or Xeon processors, along with dedicated Nvidia graphics. MBP is just a kid in front of it.

Damn, so even with Dell XPS Precision and Windows, we can still get very good performance and a very good battery life. And even Apple can't last like hours, not even half a day, under full load, It is so different from the impression I get from Apple and other youtuber that as if Macbook Pro Max can last half a day under full load. Apple is really good with marketing and in creating hype, as if Macbook Pro Max is miles ahead compared to its competition when it is come to performance and battery life. And some other youtuber and reviewer even help them with this.

This is because you watch reviewers on RU-vid only. None of them use it for other than video editing. So how will they be able to tell the difference. And almost all the reviewers doesn't even know that Precision laptops exists, many of them doesn't know about XPS either. They know only about MBP because of the premium hype. Most of the reviewers or influencers are technically dumb people (other than LTT type of people), they don't know jackshit about performance. Apple's target customers are those only. Technically dumb + People with more money+ influencers who want to just show off and will never use a device to it's potential and buys apple products just for show off. and apple makes products for them only. Because nobody will talks about CAD, Modelling, Engineering works etc etc benchmarks, because people who will use it for aren't on RU-vid making videos. So why will apple invest in it. This is the dilemma for most of the non tech savy people, they can't decide and ends up buying MBP after watching RU-vid reviews and then regret it.

I have to point out that spec for spec the dell is $1000 extra, as much as I love the precision lineup, it really makes no sense that a Mac with almost better performance is actually a lot cheaper…. WTH dell!!!!
@District7DrewGeraci
@District7DrewGeraci 2 года назад
While at MSRP the Precision is more $200 more expensive (with a 4TB MBP config) but Dell allows you to remove memory and SSD's which means you can purchase the bare minimum system from Dell (8GB Ram, 512 SSD) and save over $2000 on the overall including purchasing the same sized memory and SSDs. The markup on components is a bit over the top.

@vivek_v
@vivek_v 2 года назад
I have a nearly maxed out 7760 (i9, A4000, 64GB ram, and 1.25TB ssd, 5 years ProSupport plus), and it has been an absolute beast. I paid 3700 USD for it without tax. In my primary workflow in Davinci Resolve, the M1 Max might have a slight lead in certain AI tasks due to its neural engine, but in my secondary workflow in Blender, my A4000 absolute smokes the M1 Max, even with metal support. We are talking about 3x faster renders with Optix, so the M1 is just not even a consideration anymore. And addressing the elephant in the room... my spec costs $1000+ less than an "equivalent" M1 Max MBP 16. As for upgradability... I shouldn't' even need to mention it because we all know what kind of company Apple is. No upgradable RAM, no upgradable storage, and no eGPU support. In a few years, I can get an eGPU, put in some more storage and RAM, and keep my laptop on par with the newer models, but forget about longevity with the MBP 16. Also its worth noting that if you are doing video editing, you should never edit from a soldered drive as you will eventually wear out the drive. So a fair benchmark with the Macbook would be using an external drive which will definitely slow it down. And some other misc items: 7760 has a numpad, lots of ports (HDMI 2.1 vs 2.0 on MBP), and an optional 5 years of warranty. I just can't see myself buying a $5000 dollar Macbook and being limited to the 3 years of warranty that they have. And Apple's warranty is only mail in. The 7760 screen is also wider than the MBP, which is useful in a lot of my workflows. Unlike what the reviews and hype say, there is nothing revolutionary about the MBP catching up to its competition. However, the difference is that if you are willing to pay the hefty Apple tax (and give up some aforementioned important items), it's not something that you will want to break in half upon first using it (MBP 16...).

The notch on the MBP actually doesn't take away screen real-estate. The area right and left of the notch is extra above the 16:10 screen. So you actually get more screen space for content, since the menu can slide up above the 16:10 screen.
@District7DrewGeraci
@District7DrewGeraci 2 года назад
Compared to what? The resolution of the screen isn't even 4k and that top area (in line with the notch) is either a tool bar or a desktop creator, try dragging anything into that area and see what happens (or doesn't happen).

*Quite Dell biased review.* Apple is the clear win for the screen, it has a much higher contrast ratio and 120Hz, your mentioned warm colors which are probably due to activated True Tone / Night mode, and the notch does NOT take any space, both displays are 16:10 but the area left+right of the Notch are EXTRA, so why you gave Dell a win here? lol. Why did fan noise and thermals not getting mentioned? Why not an extended battery comparison? Or webcam? The Trackpad? All disciplines where the Macbook crushed the XPS. Thanks for your feedback! First, Truetone was turned off. Second, there's no way to properly/professionally measure the screen, so for professionals (who make money off of the equipment they use) the MBP's screen isn't ideal for color-sensitive projects. As for the notch, it does indeed take up 1/4 of an inch across the entire top part of the mac. It's unusable space (feel free to try to drag windows or apps up into that area, it's not possible), as for not testing the thermals or fan noise that's because I didn't have the time to do it seeing as I only had 2 1/2 days with the MBP to run benchmarks. I'm not sure if you're familiar with how long it takes to run tests, diagnostics, AND film at the same time by yourself but in case you don't know, it takes a long time. I'm sorry that the review didn't favor the things that you wished to see, or had the desired results you were hoping for but I don't believe that requires a downvote. The review was unbiased with everything that was technically based. I even stated in the review that my preference for the Precision in terms of looks over the MBP was a subjective one and that it didn't matter. Either way though, thanks for watching!

@doniel2008 2 года назад
@@eloquentblack Saying that the notch is nothing but a fashion statement to stand out from the crowd is just not being fair to Apple. The screen space in line with the notch is actually EXTRA to what the users had with the previous MacBook Pros, and that's why the new 16 MBP's screen is a bit taller than the last gen's. The macOS menu bar on these new MBPs now lives in the same horizontal space as the notch does and frees up more screen real estate for content. Sure, the notch is a bit odd looking on a laptop. But since it allows me to view 1 or 2 more lines of code and gives me a much slimmer bezel, why not?

There was no way to actually test that so that's why it's not mentioned. There are plenty of amazing monitors out there that have great screens that are 100% accurate.

Close huh? Try that ProRes export in an NLE that actually uses the dedicated ProRes hardware encoders… Like FCPX. Clearly the non-optimized Adobe software give the Dell a fighting chance. Once the optimized version is released it will be another matter.

Hard to say, especially with the release of Adler lake CPUs. As for trying FCPx, sure, go for it, but this was a comparison with programs that are on both Windows and Mac so FCPx has no barrings here.

For the battery though the mac is constantly at full power and the dell is probably throttled to conserve energy so it’s not really a fair comparisons
@District7DrewGeraci
@District7DrewGeraci 2 года назад
Both were set to high performance mode when on battery. There was a slight drop in GHz on the Dell but it was performing nearly identically to how it was on power. The Apple likely throttled its power as well because the render times increased by 50% when the Mac hit 50% power indicating it started to go into its own power saving mode once it hit a certain threshold. Thanks for watching!
@seashellwanderers456
@seashellwanderers456 2 года назад
@@District7DrewGeraci The cpu and gpu pulls more watts at full power. There is no way a current windows pc is keeping the same power while unplugged. That’s just not possible due to the current chip architecture for once and the current draw to get access to that processing power. Not discrediting your tests but the power aspect is debatable.
@District7DrewGeraci
@District7DrewGeraci 2 года назад
@@seashellwanderers456 It is debatable, however, it's nearly impossible to debate (right now) because you can't actually tell how much performance you're actually getting from the MBP. Over the 1 hour and 20 minutes, it was rendering off-power, the performance dropped significantly (for both systems) around the 50% mark. The Dell lost about 2Ghz (from 4.4Ghz it was averaging) but since you can't get live GHz stats from the MBP it was hard to tell exactly how much it was being throttled. I don't disagree that the MBP probably throttled a bit less, but both continued to work at around the same FPS render rate all the way up until the battery died. While not scientific, it does provide a real-world experience that anyone who used the laptop would likely encounter. Thanks again for watching!

"The Apple notch is 5% of the screen" .. what??? Poor spatial abilities or intentional bias?
@District7DrewGeraci
@District7DrewGeraci 2 года назад
The notch on a horizontal axis (so the entire width and height of the notch) takes up approximately 5% of the screen. It's unusable space and the only thing that can go up on that entire length of the screen is menu systems. Try dragging any kind of content or window, it won't advance.
@jCouzito
@jCouzito 2 года назад
@@District7DrewGeraci 5% in one axis does not mean 5% of the area. And that space is useless with the menu bar. Would you rather them take the lazy dell approach and make the entire screen .5" shorter? They made a creative hardware solution that integrates well with their software. Dell/microsoft could learn a thing or two just from that.
@District7DrewGeraci
@District7DrewGeraci 2 года назад
@@jCouzito I'm not sure you know what you're talking about, but there is definitely less screen resolution and space to work with on the Mac then there is with the Dell - this is a fact. The MBP isn't even true 4k resolution, Apple skimped on that.
