Your original artwork is the secret sauce-that makes all the difference!

Hello Lauren - I love watching your embroidery journey and this is a fantastic video:). I absolutley love my 12 needle happy japan which I am now using every single day. I am making patches and keyrings mainly for motorcycle groups that I belong to plus embroidering logos onto T shirts and fleeces. I have recenlty learnt to embroidery onto hats after watching your excellent video on attaching the hat frame etc. I have not yet got round to digitising, but trying to learn so currently I send artwork away. I always look forward to your next video and often re-watch your previous ones. Thank you so much and keep it up - you are an inspiration:)

Hi, your videos are great and very inspirational. As a self taught embroiderer with a smal business I can feel your story. By now I don't own a multi needle machine yet. But I changed the working location and am now doing customized embroidery for a company as an employee. There I have access to some multi needle machines and they are a game changer. Embroidery is a fantastic journey that I never want to miss anymore. Thank you so much for charing your story. Greetings from Germany and happy stiching.

Thank you for your comment! It's great that you have access to multi-needle machines now as it will mean it won't be such a steep learning curve when you are ready to purchase your own

Hi Lauren, love your video. I went to see the happy Japan in person today. I’m still undecided if I should get a brand new one of second hand. What model is the one you have with the clean front panel right behind you?
@pinkbirdembroidery8281
@pinkbirdembroidery8281 Месяц назад
Hi! my model is the older model, HCS2, there is a new model available now called the HCS3 and I believe it will be the HCS3 you purchase if you buy brand new. I have done a RU-vid video comparing the HCS3 vs HCS2 if you would like to see the differences between the two machines - I think I posted it about 2 years ago. I purchased both my HCS2 machines through eBay second hand they were already 2 or 3 years old when I bought them and I've had them for 5 years since and (touch wood) not had any issues. I think as long as the model you purchase has the Touchscreen you can't really go wrong with either model. And if you do get in touch with Midwest Machinery in the UK let them know you've watched my videos :p

3x cost of materials sounds unsustainable when factoring in labor, wear and tear, fees, wastage, utilities, space, and growth unless you have 50k+ in machines running simultaneously and ship by the crate daily. it's like a race to the bottom because you could make them even cheaper if you had 100k in machines but the product itself has an inherent value that's relative to market price for comparable items. Just for curiosity I crunched the numbers on a gross extreme. A 5x7 rectangle comprised of 2 5x7 fills @4.0 density with underlay overlapped would cost $2.7 to ship. That's 375 yards of thread (madeira polyneon) @ $1.50, $0.45 of fabric & stabilizer, $0.05 iron on backing, $0.357 for shipping supplies. Standard flatbed machines seem to run at 600sps so that's 2.3hrs and 2hrs @1000sps. So at 3x the patch would sell for $8.12 which is less than $4 an hour so you'd need to make 6 or 8 at a time to be making anything decent, assuming they all sell, which is unlikely over a short time frame.
@pinkbirdembroidery8281
@pinkbirdembroidery8281 Месяц назад
Exactly that, as I said in the video the flatbeds weren't sustainable which is why I only saw a decent profit when I purchased my multineedles. There were ways I could have made my flat-beds more profitable though on reflection by not making such elaborate patches.

What digitizing software do you use ?
@pinkbirdembroidery8281
@pinkbirdembroidery8281 Месяц назад
I use a mix of Embird and Hatch depending on my mood. Both softwares are great but I would recommend Hatch over Embird :D

Do we need to know any designing tool to use those machines?
@pinkbirdembroidery8281
@pinkbirdembroidery8281 Месяц назад
If you want to make your own designs then yes, you will need a digitising software, if purchase ready-made designs online you can transfer them directly onto your machine via USB and don’t need any additional software

@@pinkbirdembroidery8281 do you mean designs already created for embroidery or any svg or png could work? I use creative fabrica for premade designs for pod but i don’t know if i should buy specifically designs for embroidery. (Unfortunately i don’t have a design talent and don’t know how to use any tool)
