Mgk is called machine gun because when he raps he spits rapid fire lol it’ll sound crazy but this ain’t how he got big, he’s built his MOVEMENT while rapping. He is a great rapper and he’s even acted in multiple movies and now he’s doing this punk rock and he’s great at that too 🤯
I really appreciated that you took the time to acknowledge that the older generations can be hypocritical to the point of making the younger generations question themselves. These types of conversations are how we make positive change! We don't have to look alike to get along.
I'm so glad to find guys my age that appreciate today's music. So many I meet will only listen to what was popular when they were in high school and say "today's music sucks." They're missing out on some great music.
MGK is dating Megan Fox. He started out as a rapper and has now recently released a pop punk album. He absolutely rocks both genres! 🎸💉♥️ Some of my favorite songs from Machine Gun Kelly are Breaking News, Chip Off The Block, The Breakup, 27, Bloody Valentine, and My Ex's Best Friend He also had a pretty big beef with Eminem. Check out MGK's Rap Devil and Eminem's Kill shot Also in case you haven't heard NF is dropping a song tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. ES
Subscribed! Man, I love your enthusiasm. The way you are so open minded about every artist you react to and try to understand their music means a lot. Let's have the conversations. Let's talk and listen, generation to generation. Music is something we all can relate to eventually. Looking forward to your future video's!
Yes, another Yungblud reaction! He is so special. We know it’s all been done before, this happens with every generation but expressing it through new music is awesome. Yungblud is referencing the music he grew up on, it’s tributes rather than copies. Please react to Strawberry Lipstick by Yungblud if you want to see his tribute to punk 🖤
i so so SO appreciate your take on things at 6:00. that entire conversation makes me feel so much better about things, to know that there are some people in the generation above mine who don't think that everyone in my generation are complete screwups... thank you for this! great reaction! I love your energies, incredible!
I'll admit, I saw the channel name and just assumed this would devolve into trash talk about the mgk and the song style etc. but I was so pleasantly surprised at how open and understanding the conversation was. I love it props to you gentlemen.
If you get a chance listen to “Play this when I’m gone” by MGK. No need for a reaction especially if you have kids, it’ll probably just be a video of you crying. One of the most emotional songs I’ve ever heard (and I’m old too lol)
Okay. You guys both hit the nail on the head when you paused the first time to discuss Yungblud and what you think his message and image are all about. He's super inspired by 80s Britpop and New Wave artists (David Bowie was his big inspiration) and he's all about "F**k societal expectations, toxic masculinity, and overbearing authority figures like parents or teachers who come down on you trying to get you to conform or fit into a neat little box - it's okay to be individual, to love yourself just as you are and be that person unapologetically, and to walk away from people who make you miserable." He's created an environment where people have found a new family that's bound stronger than blood. He is the new Bowie for the millennial/Gen Z kids who are angry about all the outdated, hypocritical, and hateful things in society that are held up as the status quo by their parents' generation. I SOOO appreciate that you guys recognized that and got so introspective about that because most people over age 35 probably just wouldn't get it! Awesome video, if you want to have more deep conversations around Yungblud's body of work, his songs Polygraph Eyes, Hope For the Underrated Youth, Mars, and God Save Me But Don't Drown Me Out are INCREDIBLE and have super moving music videos. For MGK I'd recommend Bloody Valentine and Forget Me Too (featuring Halsey). Thanks for the great video! 💚💚💚
I could go on a huge list of both of them, but I want to say thank you. I was honestly really nervous about where this conversation might be going--but your honesty, humor, and willing to accept others was refreshing. I became a fan of both of them when I saw this video quite awhile ago. I first heard it because of Travis Barker, the drummer. He’s effing legendary and was in Blink-182 in the 2000’s. They were a pop punk/alternative rock band. I listen to more Yungblud in general, just because his discography is a style I’m drawn to. I love MGK, but most of his career was with rap. Which isn’t bad at all! His rapping is amazing, but rap is not something I’d listen to daily. Sorry! I would recommend looking up their collabs together, and both of their live performances are amazing. Check out BBC Radio 1 Lounge for some Yungblud stuff--you won't be disappointed.
Honestly you are the only guys that I’ve seen a reaction to this song that actually get it! It’s crazy, I’m 24 I’m going through the shit that their talking about, you’ve been through it, it’s good to know that you guys appreciate the music/ what us are going through, keep it real guys!
From MGK and his rapping to his most recent project Tickets To My Downfall, he literally has so much talent. You should check out his rapping and more of his punk rock stuff.
I love that you both get into it, your not just watching it and not enjoying it like some do, you’re in the moment and really listening to the lyrics. Loved it!
First video I have seen from you guys. Honestly? THIS is a reaction video and I love the premise of having two older people commentate newer, younger music. Also, the drummer in this song is Travis Barker, the drummer for Blink 182.
This is the first video I watched of you guys. The dude on the right looks like an awesome guy on a night out getting all excited. Also reminded me if listening to this for the first time after being introduced to it by my daughter 🤣🤣 I think the dude on the left is needed to keep it on a level 🤣 otherwise we'd all be bouncing around the living room together rocking out to MGK and Yungblud!
They also collaborate on one of my favorite songs BODY BAG. Might like it. You might also like MGK'S Forget me too, and Title Track. He has many great rap songs but if you are into the new stuff that's awesome too 💕
Instantly subscribed. Loved your guys insight. And punks/metal heads are some of the most inclusive and nice people I've ever known. The more "preppy" or "normal" people tend to be assholes.
You were great at reading into the messages in this. Thank you for acknowledging how cool punks are, and how most of us are softies. Also it was great to hear you point out the feeling of being able to do nothing right. I really connect to this song you guys did it justice.
I'm 58 and a huge Machine Gun Kelly fan. He's extremely talented in multiple genres. This is from his newer pop punk songs but he has pop, rock and rap music as well. I love your open-mindedness and am a new subscriber. Also - this song does have a clean version if you wanted to play it for your kids. But he does have songs without salty language - At My Best is my favorite.
Please do more "MGK" reactions. I loved every second of this reactions. ❤ You guys ROCK. You guys made me smile the whole reaction. ☺ Can't wait to see more!!!!
Excellent reaction and perspectives! I promise you keep down the MGK rabbit hole, you'll become more and more impressed. Not everything is for everyone but he's one of those artists that have at least 1 song that can resonate with most/all. May I suggest a few? MGK: A Little More, 27, Lonely (for his father & aunt), Play This When I'm Gone (for his daughter)... so many more. He's definitely 1 of a kind all-around artist.
The point of this song and their newish rock phase is that it sounds exactly like 90s and early 2000s punk rock. This style of punk kind of died out and they wanted to bring it back. Travis Barker of Blink 182 cooperates on a lot of their new stuff as well. So if some of their songs don’t sound “new” or “original” that’s because that’s kind of what they were going for
You lost me in the beginning with the AK stuff. You had me again at your explanation. I think this is a well rounded, open minded interpretation from the older generation. And as a millennial that’s not something we get very much. So bravo to you two.
i like these guys they are so smart and understanding and dont just shut MGK and YungBlud down but rather try to understand what going on and i really respect that
You guys are awesome! I had to follow! One of the best reaction videos I've seen, keep up the good work guys, also check out some of the songs off of Machine Gun Kelly's newest album "Tickets to my Downfall". Its a pop punk based album, and Travis Barker from Blink 182 plays the drums on it! He has a 49 minute long Music Video/Short Movie on youtube showcasing the whole thing.. its a masterpiece in my opinion.
I can somewhat clarify what you guys were confused about when Yungblud sings "you take drugs, *to let go* and figure it all out on your own" meaning there are people who smoke weed to relax and try to deal with their anxieties or depression or take Adderall to figure out how to focus without becoming a zombie monster on Adderall maybe? or hey, even some people are told to try psychedelics as a therapy to overcome mental illnesses, and of course, there are people who take drugs/alcohol that isn't the best to let loose and forget about traumatic events etc. So, I feel as if these lyrics can be taken in multiple contexts. Machine Gun Kelly, Yungblud & Travis Barker are extremely talented individuals who are keeping punk relevant and fresh by expressing the truth of how our generation feels in today's society also, not constricting themselves to one genre when expressing these emotions which is what I find fascinating. If you really start to dive into the three of these artists separately, you'll see what I'm talking about. I hope the future of music will be more collaborations like this.
Idk if you guys know this but the drummer is Travis Barker (the drummer from Blink-182). Also if you want to check out more from MGK listen to his song “Forget Me Too (feat. Halsey)” and for Yungblud check out “Mars” and “cotton candy”. Also, a different artist for you to check out is Bring Me the Horizon with their songs “Obey (feat. Yungblud)” or “Parasite Eve”
I graduated high school in 1988. Was totally into the punk/new wave thing. I love Yungblud. He’s such a sweet kid and is so talented. You seriously need to check his music out further. He spans genres. I’ve been reminded of the Sex Pistols, The Cure, U2, the Dead Milkmen, the Beastie Boys, Erasure. You’ve really gotta have the lyrics in front of you though. Because he always has a point to make. Oh, the drug reference isn’t what it seems. Here’s the lyrics. I think the words “gravestones” and “on your own” are important 🙂 Roll me up and smoke me, love And we can fly into the night Roll me up and smoke me, love And we can fly into the night You take drugs (take drugs) to let go (let go) And figure it all out on your own Take drugs (take drugs) on gravestones (gravestones) To figure it all out on your own
