This is sounding pretty fascinating so far. Love the layering - one of the best parts of the newer material generally. Jared's channeling Howard Jones for the chorus and it really works. Can't wait!

Honestly, I prefer Jared's take on the chorus here. Sounds more even with that simple alt.metal riff in the chorus. The final version sounds like vocal melody goes faster and more aggressive than the music it's on top of.

Always my favorite metal band, so creative and epic live shows...

I know that there are working and functional one man shows and in fact, this can be pretty great if everyone is fine with it. I and some buddies wrote music that way with me as composer and singer with my buds having basically no input because they chose not to, not because I didn't let them. In fact I basically forced them to classic jamming sessions so that everyone could connect with the material and ideally, new songs would be written together. But that all was just good fun to have and was in the end nothing but a hobby for us and that's fine. But the way Rob works chokes out so much creativity and takes away possible ideas of others, before they even got the chance to come up with them. It's unreasonably controlled, almost sterile and I almost expect him to leave others no breathing room. Well, at least the former members seem to doing well. Or at least that's what I heard.

Robb , my inspiration!!! I've got few old phones with beatbox shit and other crazy stuff like this. Inspires me to try and put my stuff down on lock at studio! Keep Rockn Everyone!!!

Machine head sounds at its best when you can feel it’s authenticity and that it’s coming straight from some raw emotions. This feels very genuine and I’m liking the direction of this song, Loving that Jared is singing more because he’s an underrated vocalist.

As much as I lost interest in MH after many years - this sounds awesome and I can't wait to hear it once it's done. As someone hear wrote - it has this Through The Ashes vibe to it, which is good, TTAOE is one of my fav albums of all time.

I love the creative process! A lot of successful musicians mouth their compositions. Kirk Hammett had a phone full of mouthed music and he lost his phone and lost a lot of music.

IMO, Machine Head isn’t a band anymore, it’s a Robb Flynn solo project........which is fine, but to me, it’s not MH anymore. It seems glaringly obvious why Phil and Dave left the band....Robb just wants to write everything and have his way. To me a band is a band and everyone has input in each song or at least everyone likes the songs being written. Again just my opinion but when you replace multiple members of a band....all the way down to the last two standing and have to have “hired guns” replace band members, the original vision of the band becomes very watered down. As a result ,the music in this case becomes very watered down too. When you have a riff let’s say, and you have 3 or 4+ more people to bounce ideas off of, you end up with a better product. You think Jared is going to tell Robb “well that riff is pretty weak, try a different one”?........or..”let’s make this song heavier etc”........probably not, he will just go with whatever Robb wants to keep his paying music gig. By the way, this pains me to say all of this, MH and Vio-lence are 2 of my favorite bands OF ALL TIME. With all that said, I hope the new MH album is better than the last couple...........but based on watching this video it won’t be, it will just be another Catharsis album........a Robb Flynn solo album. Ironically “circle the drain” is a perfect name for the song........and maybe the album, because it’s what MH seems to be doing.......circling the drain.
