Great job there well done. If I used my steady rest more I would add bearings as well.

Each version has its place . It works awesome for mildly abrasive fast spinning parts. Thank.you

A lot of people like myself prefer the bronze tips. A few advantages.

I 3d printed a very small version with bearings for my Unimat SL. I have yet to put it to the test.
@Wrighmachining

3-D printed , the unimat is a smaller lathe , should work if its a tight fit an low pressure . Good thinking . Let me know how it goes . Did you print the part on its side so the grain structure is long ways or bottom up on end ?

Nice video. I want to do add bearings to my steady rest. Are the bearings anything special or do you just order sealed bearings of about the right size?
@Wrighmachining
@Wrighmachining Год назад
To do the build I just ordered Cheap roller Bearings. however being that bearings standardizes I can always upgrade to a better quality bearing any time I want. I probably will now that we've had this conversation, because I totally forgot that they were cheap :) bearings. Thank you . The bearings I'm using are 608 - 2RS - C3 from from PGN bearing and it was a 10 pack off ebay i think. They where reasonably priced and bought them cheap because i wasnt sure if they would be the right size. Hope this helps

@@Wrighmachining It does thankyou. I got a brand new Precision mathews lathe and knee mill showing up in the next couple of weeks so I'm lining up my projects..:). Believe it or not I'm cheap too!

@@Wrighmachining Well I do but I only have aerobatic videos on it ATM. I'm assuming I can video with my cell phone?

Totally just ( if it's Convenient) Grab it with your cell phone and just upload it to youtube from your phone and throw the link up here. If you don't want it to interfere with your Other videos mark it as unlisted. Thanks, Frank

Metosa is a Spanish company - hence the metric size (20mm) for the fingers. Nice job btw.
