Michael Buble is a really great singer and i hate to admit but there will never be another Frank Sinatra he's one of a kind. if you haven't noticed most of the great music is not being appreciated by the young kids and it's always nice to have cover artist trying to bring it back in other words Michael Buble is doing us a favor by keeping this music alive! by adding his own twist to keep up with this generation! :)

Bobby Darin songs are a different level to the rat pack stuff, and Michael's performance shows that. Thats why he never performs Bobby now.

That is actually very true. The phrasing in this song is quite difficult to grasp compared to most jazz standards.

Nada II This version sucks compared to how Bobby Darin sang it. Buble doesn't know how to sing. Not even one ounce as good as Bobby.

Have you heard his recorded version of this? It's amazing- the younger him, I mean. I love him so much- and anybody who hates this version is delusional. He sings with soul and passion, and his voice is as smooth as coffee. Man, you must not have ears.

I can't disagree with this recording,,,,,the band is too slow, the drummer is not driving the band they sound tired and it kills the song. Maybe his monitors were't working. Either way it's not good. @lawsonmahoney Michael Bublé wrote Haven't Met You Yet with his music Director Alan Chang and his Co-writer Amy Foster. As Far as I now Michael Bublé has written 9 songs, three of then not on an album, these songs include: Haven't Met You Yet, Lost , Everything, Hold On, Hollywood, Home, Dumb O'l Heart, Here's to Life and I've Never Been in Love Before. Even thought Michael has not written a lot of his songs his talent is still huge! :)

just wondering... how come when someone does a cover of a song, they get a ton of crap for being a "poser" or "fake" and are compared to other versions? it DEFINITELY couldn't just be that that artist likes the song and wants to sing it. it's ridiculous! saying that he's fake and trying to be frank sinatra or someone else is just ignorant; he's simply singing a good song and i really don't think he's trying to be anyone but himself. everyone needs to back off of him- he's an amazing singer.

Lets not be silly here. Though I stand to be corrected, I really don't think that Mr. Buble backstage had any pre - conceived Sweeny Todd - like plan other than his regular routine of woo - ing the ladies and selling records in the way he knows best and that is to spin around and shake his booty. The band did a great job but knowing the lyrics well I just found watching Mr. Buble odd. I don't often comment on videos and don't get me wrong I think Michael Buble is an all round fine performer !
@MRrednaxela1

@pariserm I am a sinatra fan, but i think that michael buble has more talent. Sinatra was always flat and he didnt write any of his songs, he was still fantastic. however buble is never flat and writes all the songs that arn't covers. How can you say that he lacks talent and has no appeal. You obviously dont know your music and your jellous because either your girlfriend or your boyfriend have a crush on him and you have your knickers in a twist about it so you want to lash out. Bubles wicked
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 13 лет назад
@schweppes069 Sinatra appeared with the "Hoboken Four" on "Major Bowes Amateur hour", winning a talent contest as a foursome. HE alone made the big time afterward. Still, my point was that Sinatra was an original; a musical genious, who hired arrangers like Cole Porter to arrange music so that HE could phrase the lyrics around the melody of a song in his own unique, and inimitable style. Buble' is a cover singer who sings to arrangements that were made for Sinatra, imitating Sinatra's phrasing.
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@schweppes069 I made a comment based on my opinion and preference, about this vid some 5 mos ago and people like u are compelled to comment on my comment. Buble is a talented singer, who won a talent contest and was able to parlay a musical career out of it. However he's still doing what he did back then; singing covers in the style of talented originals. Sinatra(like Darin) was an "Original"; a talented musical genious, whose persona and inimitable phrasing was, and still is, emulated by all.
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@Anaconda43VR If ur a teen u should know that; A)This isindeed Darin's arrangement & he sings many of Franks songs in FS's arrangements(4ur info,they do/must have subtle differences/keys in order to be legal,unless Buble' has bought the rights to them,however they R otherwise identical & can be ID'ed as Darin's/Sinatra's).B) I'm aware that he writes,but the tunes,thus far, have been bubble gum quality. And for UR info, I have been singing these songs w/my own band longer than uhave been alive
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@FuzzyRat13 Louis Armstrong is a legendary icon. He originally earned fame as a cornet and trumpet player and was also a singer with a unique style and voice. If you like his voice, you like it. But I don't personally think his voice was particularly of great quality. He is not a singer in the order of Nat Cole, Sinatra, or Tony Bennet. I personally prefer Darin's reading of this song, as I believe his voice, timing, and phrasing were superior to Armstrong's here.
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@AllthatJazz62 I am 51.U like Buble' because he is currently alive & is probably the first person you heard doing this number. So to u, he is the original. However he is basically singing in the style of Darin in this song. He's using his phrasing and his arrangement here. Buble' is a good singer, however an individual in an earlier post characterized Buble' as a cover singer. This is basially true, he sings songs that have been made famous by others, mostly using their arrangements as well.
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@InternallyOptimistic In tempo only. The arrangements are different, & Darin put his own signature on the song; in his own unique style. Buble is singing with Darin's arrangement,& in the style of Darin.The lyrics;"down by the river, don't you know",came from Darin,not Armstrong. Buble also sings"Under my skin",in the style of Sinatra.What ur doing is like saying "actually Virginia Bruce did it this way first, when everyone knows Sinatra, like Darin (inthissong), put a definitive stamp on it.
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@4ctup Agree with everything you said...except that Darin wrote it, he didn't. "The Ballad of Mack the Knife", originally "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer", is a song composed by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht for their music drama Die Dreigroschenoper, or, as it is known in English, The Threepenny Opera. Marc Blitzstein wrote the best known english translation for his 1954 "Three Penny Opera", and Louis Armstrong actually recorded it in 1956, 3 years before Darin recorded his version.
@wire4paladin
@wire4paladin 14 лет назад
@caloscalante1518 If that were the case, then I wonder why everyone; including Buble, here, would choose to sing it in Darin's style/phrasing, and not in Armstrong's? Louis Armstrong was a great musician and an American Icon, but he chose to sing the song rather straight. Darin put his his own signature, feeling, and swing into it. You find Armstrong's version more to your liking, but IMO Darin's version has become the standard for this song.
@tunefultony
@tunefultony 15 лет назад
There are 3 classic versions of this song. Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra & the late great Bobby Darin. Darin's version was a great example of how to swing a standard. Buble does a reasonable version of this timeless song & has brought it to a modern audience. We need more talented young singers to re-work songs of this quality. Don't knock singers like Buble .....they are links in a chain & pay homage to an age when quality songs & lyrics, really mattered.

Mrzamani1000, So you dont look bad, you should probably stop judging talent. You are not good at it. Michael Buble has one of the best voices around and his interpretation of music is incredible. If you ever hear him in concert, it sounds like a record. And by the way, this song should be sung with some pizazz.
@Drblooter99
@Drblooter99 12 лет назад
@mrtautriadelta That's a persuasive point, until in my mind I put an X factor winner next to Sinatra, or perhaps Paul Rodgers of Free. If I didn't immediately believe that the X factor guy is vastly inferior, I might as well give up listening to music. Though obviously your point works better with established top singers.

Darin, Bublé , these guys are light weights. Loius Armstrong does it so much better and he doesn't need any key change gimmicks . This song, in its original and best version, from "The Threepenny Opera", is about such things as underage rape, child murder, prostitute slashing and murder for profit ... this bland-out from La Buble proves once again that he, like so many others, has no understanding of this song at all ... it's a horror story, people.

its amazing how people always downsize the current generation of musicians with talent because they cover songs made by the legends. if you people just kept an open mind you'll find that we have very talented musicians here and now carrying on the music made long ago instead of letting it drown in the, talentless, soulless music that crowd the mainstream today.

Before you start bashing him, you've got to remember that artists like Buble are bringing back the great old classics and showing them to younger audiences. Sure, he's not Sinatra, but I'd rather listen to him blasting from my classmates' Ipods during bio than the crap "music" we teens are expected to enjoy. Freaking apple bottom jeans. What are those, anyway?!
@phenylphenol
@phenylphenol 16 лет назад
Yeah, I don't like him. Some tasteless ornaments, and some self-involved and uninspired dancing around... meh. Shame on him. Also, what's with him getting the audience to clap along on the beats, instead of on the off-beats? I have never really heard him until now, but this makes me firmly believe he's far far overrated.

@whocaniturnto This version is Ella Fitzgerald influenced, if you find Ella's version you'll see. But you are right, Bobby owns this song...but I have to disagree in your saying this one is embarrassing, he is very good, this version is just different but I do like it. But not as much as Bobby's!

No, it's not too old-fashioned to enjoy good, entertaining songs. I first heard this song when I was about 13-14 and thought it was cool. My favorite Bobby Darin song is Clementine though simply because of all the vocal sound effects that he uses. It would be cool if Michael did that song as well.

@nubetuber51 I would say Bobby Darin did the best version. I think this song needs a smoother voice. Louis certainly didn't have it, and I think even Michael's voice is slightly too rough for it. And, for the time of this song, I would say Michael's version simply doesn't have enough swing to it.

@yaloolah42 I have a feeling it has to do with the genre that made it popular. It seems that Jazz is the only genre that can take a song like this and make it, lack for better words, extremely enjoyable to listen to. But yeah, it's pretty amusing, that the it's become so popular.
