But what sets you apart from the many other RU-vidrs talking about OpenCore Legacy Patcher is that you always give enormous credit to Mykola and to the team behind the remarkable engineering of this great patcher. Thank you Mr Macintosh. Another great video, as usual. Upgraded from 14.2 to 14.2.1 on my MBP 8,1 2011 with 8Gb RAM/HD3000 graphics + OCLP 1.3.0, but had to reboot as I was stuck with progress bar frozen at 8min remaining. Forced reboot, full DL of 14.2.1 package again and full reinstall - with success !

Thank you Mr. Macintosh. Running macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 on Macbook pro late 2013 (10,1) with OCLP V1.3 successfully without any issues. The only difference was that OCLP requested to be updated prior to downloading and installing macOS 14.2.1. The upgrade was from macOS 14.1. Upon installation, OCLP requested to install it's root files and drivers - this worked without any issues.

I must say this was interesting experience. I have late 2013 27 i7 iMac 32 gb Ram and 2TB ssd, I had installed Monterey with no issues a month ago. I just upgraded. to Sonoma 14.2.1. Open Core opened and asked to install the patches which I did, once rebooted I was asked if I wanted to install on internal disk, which I did, and boom everything is working perfectly fine. No issues.at all. I was surprised how quick the upgraded went, say within 9 mins or so.

Installed Sonoma 14.2.1 from 14.2 couple days ago, 2011 mid year I Mac 27" 2.7 Quad I5, AMD 6770 Non Metal card, 24 GB memory. OCLP 1.3.0 Installed OCLP first then Sonoma 14.2.1. OCLP did all the work however took a very long time, about two hrs with multiple re boots.

Apple *does* publish details about the security content whenever they publich "important bug fixes and security updates", but they do so a bit later. That is intentional and best practice in the industry, and the purpose of that is to give users enough time to install the update before giving out the details which are then also available to attackers who can much quicker figure out how to take advantage of the vulnerabilities once the details are published. Publishing those immediately along with the fixes would put users at great risk if they continue to use the unpatched system before they get around to install the update while attackers already are at it targeting those users.

Hi Mr. Macintosh 😊 I have an iMac late 2013 with 16 GB Ram, that I, through OCLP installed Sonoma on. It's actually running like a dream - I didn't expect it to run so well, but it does 😊 though, I have a problem running the latest Logic Pro X trail version, not being able to run Mastering Assistant, I'm sure it's because it doesn't have the M1 or M2 processor. Is there a chance that OCLP could fix that problem? I have an iPad Pro M1 that shares the keyboard and the mouse with my iMac and screen sharing works super, so I'm quite happy that I got to know your work. Should I update it to Monterey, Ventura or Sonoma ? The MacBook is primarily used for iTunes backup and storing a few files.

I am currently in a small detail; The iMac I have is the 14.3 with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics card with 1 GB and I have had problems with some software since they do not recognize the graphics card. Any advice that can help me solve this problem? The OS I have is Monterrey, thinking about going up to Sonoma (but I'm losing sleep because the graphics don't work very well).

Based on this and from your 14.2 update, I assume I can install the 14.2.1 update WITHOUT first updating to 14.2. I'm on 14.1.1 MacPro 2012 with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX. I have OCLP 1.3.0 installed and the system is updated.

Just updated to 14.2.1 from general and updates… opencore asked to update patches so it did and i restarted it.. first few times it would let me log in but the screen would be black after logging in. Now after i kept on trying it gets stuck on the log in screen and the progress bar freezes.. the mouse moves around and the keyboard lights up but nothing loads in.

7:30 always a worry for me that. defo since i did leak one of my bank infos online on accident. lucky it was only one person saw it but i still had to change most info on bank side after that. you would think apple would of made sure that other APP windows or desktop windows cant be seen by anyone when ur not recording those windows. haunts me tbh

I upgraded from Ventura to Sonoma 14.1 on my iMac and found that any files I downloaded were hidden. I was hoping for a fix in 14.2 or 14.2.1 but the problem remains. I have seen complaints on the Apple community forums. I'm afraid to install Sonoma on my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max until the problem has been resolved. Have you experienced this problem? Do you have any insight as to when the bug will be fixed? It is not isolated to a particular browser. It happens with Safari, Chrome and Firefox.

I have an Apple MacBook Pro 2022 M2 chip 13-inch screen. I am currently unable to do any programming with my device due to an error that keeps popping up and through doing some research, I was able to isolate that the problem was associated with the Sonoma OS version 14.2.1. Please give note that the oclp version does matter when updating macos. You did not mention it in your last videos. Many users encountered problems when upgrading oclp to the latest version while not upgrading macos to the latest version and relase update. Plaease note many users with 2011-2013 hardware are stuck(not me, huray :,())

Atualização do meu MACBOOK PRO 13” inch 2011,2,4GHz, Intel Core i5 Dual-Core, Intel Graphics3000, 16GB 1333MHz, feita com o OpenCore Legacy Patch 1.3.0 depois de ver esse vídeo, e tudo correu perfeitamente bem. Após reinicializar, reinstalei os Patch’s de WiFi, Bluetooth e Gráficos e está VOANDO! Gostaria de saber se alguém que usa esse mesmo aparelho consegue usar o DRIVE de DVD/CD ou se com essas atualizações ele ficou obsoleto de vez! OBRIGADO desde o BRASIL 🇧🇷

This updare also fixed an API problem that Adobe ran into: "The Sonoma 14.2.1 fixes an API issue Adobe ran into with Lightroom. A later post from Adobe on Dec 20 says the issue is fixed: We DO NOT recommend updating to macOS Sonoma 14.2 until this is resolved. We are working with Apple to get this resolved. Impact Importing from SD Card in Device mode. Workaround - Import from SD Card using the File section in Import dialog Importing from Camera/Mobile Device Workaround - Copy the images on disk using “Image Capture.app” and then import into LrC. Tethered Capture There is no workaround for this."

Thank you for another great video. OCLP 1.3.0 is performing quite well in maintaining Macs that Apple abandoned. Right now I am on a 2007 20" iMac and am pleased with the results of this effort. This machine doesn't have a metal compatible GPU so it cannot run Maps and Apple TV as well as screen savers. But for internet, watching RU-vid videos, and working on Pages, Numbers and Keynote, it's great. It's slow to start and has a lag, but once in apps, it is very usable. I also have a 2010 and a 2011 21.5" iMacs which have a K2100 Kelpler card. These machines play games and other graphical tasks work great. All three machines have upgraded CPU's, max memory and ac Wifi and bluetooth 4.0 as well as operating on SSD's. My 2012 machines all work great and my new 2015 and 2017 27" iMac's work incredible. All of this using your advice and instructions. Thank you very much.

I inherited an iMac Late 2009 (10,1) 27" display. I used OCLP 1.3 and got macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 installed and running. I have a wired USB Keyboard and wired USB mouse connected via a powered USB hub. All is okay except for Bluetooth. I can't get Bluetooth to turn on and show Bluetooth devices. I have all of the root patches installed. I've tried rebooting. I've tried stopping Bluetooth using a terminal window. But when I try to turn on Bluetooth via the menu's ControlCenter icon, the Bluetooth icon stays off and the setting just beach balls (spins). Any advice how to get Bluetooth turned on?

Is anyone else having a problem with the root patches having to be constantly reinstalled every few startups? My Mac mini, late 2012, for some reason seems to be uninstalling the root patches every once in a while, and I have to reinstall them.

This version still damage the partition of the external Startup SSD drive.

Hello Victor, Sonoma is not compatible with your 2017 MacBook Pro. But you can with OpenCore Legacy Patcher!

I have beem trying to update or clean install Ventura, Sonoma for months using Open core legacy patcher on my Macbook pro 7,1 Mid 2010 and nothing works either get stuck on loading screen and on sonoma i get an image of a mouse stuck and can't get through...

My Macbook Pro Early 2013 15 inch is having hibernation issues after updating via USB drive from Monterey to Sonoma 14.2.1. It's basically not waking from hibernation and I have to hold the shutdown button. Anyone else having this issue?

Yes had similar issues with Pro Early 2013 15in. Was working well with Sonoma 14.1.1 (don’t quote me but I think that’s where I was) updated to 14.2.1 and started with a lot of GPU Panics. I’ve been working around on it for about 4 days as I believed the EFI and Kernel Extensions might have had something to do with it. However MrMac mentioning his 2013 was having similar issues( 23:32 ), and his GPU dying has me very curious if they’re just becoming old dogs. Currently downgrading to Ventura to see if that clears anything up, and if that works I’ll stick to Ventura until I hear more news.

@@desmondfosterchild841 I'm also considering a downgrade. Let me know if Venture works. I'm also thinking to wait for 14.3 to see if that helps or opencore comes with an update by that time. At the moment it seems that I can avoid GPU panic if I close the lid every time I leave the laptop. Then it seems to wake up fine.

@@ingmarbm yeah tried Ventura with OCLP 0.6.8 same sorts of issues, held on a little longer, but blackscreen after a while, not consistently booting, etc. It’s real strange.

@@desmondfosterchild841 That sucks. When I first upgraded, I went straight from Catalina to Monterey and used time machine. That didn't work, so I just started afresh and copied some files. I'm suspecting it might be something in some user configuration files or something in that vicinity that makes the Sonoma update bad. Or did you try a clean Sonoma 14.2.1 install? I haven't tried that yet and hope I don't have to.

@@ingmarbm yeah each one of my recent installs were completely fresh. With the rapidly increasing issues with booting up, even getting to the bootloader option menu, etc, I suspect it actually might be the GPU/Logic Board failing, and I ordered a replacement Logic board on EBay yesterday.

Only daft people upgrade to the latest and greatest not yet mature MacOS. Always wait at least 12 months before adopting a full version upgrade. Monterey and Ventura are stable, mature, and much less compromised by poor product development risk factors. In July/August who the next big buggy MacOs version after Sonoma is released it might be time to install Ventura.

@@rileybaker8294 One fix after another, OS full of bugs etc. Now they started with „hotfixes“ kind of small fixes after a .point update. Embarrassing for a company with this upgrade prices and their „love“ for microsoft.
