Here's a geometric pattern that features clean lines and repeated nesting diamonds. The pattern works up pretty quickly. Be sure to watch your knot placement and tension when working the very last part of the pattern so your rows stay sharp and don't get pulled out of shape.

Terminology review! "Working cord" is the cord that is being tied (worked) around the "filler cord." "Left-facing" means to hold the filler cord in the left hand. "Right-facing means to hold the filler cord in the right hand.
I use a 3mm, 3 ply cord here. The length of the cord you need depends on your application of the pattern. Test out a small length of the pattern so you can determine how much cord you used for the short segment. Use that number to figure out how much cord to use for a longer segment.
