Macro photographers usually use a dedicated macro lens for their everyday photography. But for beginners or occasional macro photography, it is possible to do without a dedicated macro lens. In this video, four different techniques have been described.

Photography tips- MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY:
1. Use a Macro Lens: Invest in a dedicated macro lens to achieve optimal results. These lenses are designed specifically for close-up photography and offer high magnification capabilities.
2. Find the Right Lighting: Lighting is crucial in macro photography. Natural light can work well, but you may need to diffuse or control it using reflectors, diffusers, or artificial lighting setups. Soft and diffused light helps bring out the details in your subject.
3. Use a Tripod: Due to the high magnification and close proximity to the subject, any slight movement can result in blurry images. A sturdy tripod will help keep your camera steady and ensure sharp images.
4. Use a Small Aperture: To maximize depth of field and ensure that your entire subject is in focus, use a small aperture (higher f-number) like f/11 or higher. This will increase the depth of field, resulting in more of the subject being in focus.
5. Manual Focus: In macro photography, autofocus can struggle to lock onto small subjects. Switch to manual focus and adjust the focus ring to achieve precise focusing on the specific part of the subject that you want to highlight.
6. Control the Background: Pay attention to the background as it can greatly impact the overall composition. Look for clean and uncluttered backgrounds, or consider using a plain backdrop to eliminate distractions and make your subject stand out.
7. Experiment with Different Angles: Explore various angles and perspectives to capture unique and compelling macro shots. Get down to the level of your subject, try shooting from different sides, or even experiment with unconventional angles to create visually interesting images.
8. Use a Remote Shutter Release or Timer: To further reduce camera shake, use a remote shutter release or set a timer to avoid pressing the shutter button directly. This helps ensure the sharpest possible images.
9. Pay Attention to Detail: Macro photography reveals intricate details that are often unseen by the naked eye. Take the time to observe your subject closely and focus on capturing the smallest details, textures, and patterns.
10. Practice Patience: Macro photography requires patience and perseverance. Subjects may be small and elusive, so be prepared to spend time waiting for the right moment or working with cooperative subjects.
Remember, practice is key when it comes to macro photography. Take your time, experiment with different techniques, and don't be afraid to push the boundaries of your creativity. Enjoy the process and have fun capturing the fascinating world of macro!

Thank you Doctor. Love the basics of how to do things. Good results without having to buy new lenses.

Good tips Doctor J. I had never heard of the magnifying glass method. My first macro experience was with a friend's Canon SLR film camera in the mid-1970's. He showed me how to hold the lens backwards against the body without an auxiliary mount. Because everything was manual, one had to set the aperture on the ring then push in a button the side of the lens to get the blades to rotate into position. Focus was done by leaning in or out. It was an odd arrangement but it worked fine. I used it plenty when I bought an Olympus OM-1 (film) a couple of years later.

Thank you Doctor.😀 I found the answer of my qustion about the 16-50mm lens plus raynox dcr250. But does it need an adapter bag to mount the raynix on the lens? And another question - have you tried the 55-210 sony lens with the raynox dcr150/250?

Thank you Mr. Иван Николов for your question. Raynox DCR 250 will not fit on the Sony PZ 16-50 lens. I do use it with a Sony f4 16-70 lens which has a filter thread of 55 mm. I do not have a Sony 55-210 lens and therefore could not try it. However, this will fit with any lens having a filter size between 52 and 67mm.

@@dr.jalil.photography Thank you Dr. Jalil, So, on my own risk to lose some money, I will buy 2 step-up adapter rings 40.5-52 mm and 49-52 mm to try these two lenses with raynox 250. 😀 Photography is an experiment.😀
