Oh, it'll make money off the backs of the two returning Fox characters that they have in it, but just FEAST your eyes on everything else that Marvel and Sony are putting out right now. One possibly good movie is not enough to reverse the encroaching cancer that we are witnessing. Superhero movies need to go away for a decade to let the bad taste leave our mouths before any goodwill can return.

As someone who works in marketing, ads can be valued in either direct lead conversion or brand exposure, with the latter being less tangible but extremely effective if you can wedge your brand or product into social commentary and grow word-of-mouth organically. Times Square might seem like a small, localized write off, but it’s a major global tourist hub in one of the world’s most prolific cities with millions of international visitors. Those visitors have cell phones that record and share videos to other countries, etc… And as far as that 3D billboard goes, that has a novelty aspect factored into it, so it’s layered. But as far as the Indian Webcopter goes, I’ll be legit f*cked if I know what brain trust exec came up with that wet fart of a campaign.

Of all the characters in the Spiderman universe that could have inspired a film, I would NEVER have guessed they'd pick Madam Web, an elderly blind psychic who was, at best, a supporting character in selected stories. If you are hellbent on featuring female characters, here's a short list of MUCH more appealing ones to draw from; Black Cat, Silver Sable, ANY of the REAL Spiderwomen, i.e. Jessica Drew, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin. Heck, even White Rabbit would have more appeal! (shakes head)

I sometimes feel sorry for people whose job it is to market things that are clearly terrible. But then I remember they’re all dead eyed, soulless, amoral husks and I get over it pretty quickly.

This is a movie about a man haunted by his murderers in his dreams for 35 years, and doing whatever he can to stop them and save himself. Also he doesn’t age in those 35+ years.

They CGI'd Sydney Sweeney's chest to be as flat as possible, yet didn't bother trying to CG in Dakota Johnson an actual human personality or more than one facial expression.

You know who looks almost exactly like Madame Web is typically drawn? Linda Hamilton. Sit her in a chair, put glasses on her and feed her lines.

I'll throw my two cents in regarding marketing. My job isn't with marketing, specifically, but with organizational management, and in my experience, next to upper management and HR, the marketing departments of larger companies tend to be the most unhinged and disconnected. The best way I can put it is that they hyper focus on retaining "conscious real estate" at all costs - basically the mentality of "any press is good press" taken to a logical extreme. Their goal isn't so much to sell you something as it is to keep PRODUCT at top of mind. To illustrate why they do this just look at something like Raid Shadow Legends - or any bigger free-to-play game, really. They plaster it everywhere to keep it present in your mind to some degree or another. The idea behind this is that, when bored, a consumer will idly consume your product in a bid to kill some time. The obvious downside to this marketing strategy is that it's catastrophically expensive and you, as the market, have no control or influence over consumer perception of your product. However, many marketing departments seemingly don't care about either of these, opting to measure success through twitter traffic on a given day.

The best advertising was the man beating off to Sydney Sweeney while watching this movie.

Looking at the Artistic Posters for the film, I can't help but be reminded of the old 80s painted posters and VHS Box art; sometimes better than the movie itself! And it makes me think, could that be part of why we don't see such artistic advertisements anymore? The way I figure it could go is that people started to not trust the posters or box art, and probably still don't with the streaming mockbusters, so industry standard is to show people who is in the film and some appropriate set dressing for the franchise, so people won't confuse it with a knock off or doubt who they'll be seeing in theater. Which is a real shame, those posters were great.

Holy. Mother. Of GOD!! You wanna know one thing that makes this movie SO much worse. The main theme of Madam Web is just a cheap copy of the main theme of Insomniac's Spider-Man (2018). And by cheap copy, I mean a copy that's cheap. It is the same key signature, same basic structure, and same basic orchestration. Literally, the only difference is that a few notes are missing here and there. Dude, why?

Just considering the difficult it is to move to Japan, making this mass influx impossible ( at least until now, subject to change because of new immigration laws), the only time that is more frequent is during relevant events with tourism, that is the time the industry wants people to come and spent money.

One thing I will give Dakota is that she plays Madama Web perfectly, she's as bland and unlikeable as she is in the comics, it's crazy to me that everyone disliked her acting. There's never been a more faithful depiction than this.

Points of contention: on the live stream it was mentioned the cranberry juice was from Japan - the kanji on the Ocean Spray bottle is Chinese, not Japanese. Without knowledge of the language, you can tell because of the lack of hiragana and katakana. Or you could point your phone at it and run google lens and see for yourself. Also, in Brazil (where the Amazon is) they speak Portuguese, not Spanish

I agrre with what was said about the helicopter ... to some degree. They evidently wanted persons to take pictures with it. If the movie was genuinely good and had a really powerfully action/ thrilling scene with a helicopter, then it would make sense and people would enjoy it. The problem isnt the helicopter or marketing schemes like it, it that the product itself isnt worth it. But this is just a roundabout way of agreeing withwhat was said in this video
