They may have got back on track with the games actual quality, but this game DID practically invent consumable dlc, one of the most hated things in gaming. If this didn't invent consumable dlc, it certainly popularized it back in 2009. A podcast that didn't even care about or like sports games brought this up at the time to complain about it and said it would kill the gaming industry. I am surprised that more videos that talk about how much they hate consumeables in games don't bring this up more often.
Madden 10 is STILL one of the best iterations of Madden. The gameplay along with the greatest presentation package of ANY Madden to date made this game special! I STILL play this game on PS3!
I remember this game came out early August. Back in highschool the whole month of August was playing madden 10 all day after finishing up 2-a-days of football practice.
this is what my team is doing this year. we're all going to someone's house and having a madden tournament and whoever wins doesn't have to help with cleaning the field/getting water etc
Best Madden game I've had (I stopped getting them after Madden 13 though). The only real downer for me is the in game commentary. It's really, REALLY, bad.

I don't know why but Madden 09 is still my favourite! I just loved the weapons system and everything to do with that game except for Revis' shit rating, I have M10, I sold M11 and I'm getting M12 but I still love Madden 09 :D

I'll agree for NFL and NBA but there is no way the NHL series is beaten by 2k. NHL 09 was the best sports game I played and I'm looking to puck up 10 now.
i 100% agree with the commentary....Every sport game needs a commentary that excites the person playing the game and makes them want to play the game even more. The only game that is close to doing that is probably NBA 2k9 (for PS3)
The only reason I have ever purchased Madden year in and year out is because of the deep franchise mode. Since Madden '99, the franchise mode was the biggest draw for me, and then '05 finally rolled around with the deepest franchise ever (owner mode, player position competitions, smart draft trades and choices, holdouts, etc). Then next gen Madden came out, and it has never been the same. '07 was so bad I didn't buy '08, and '09 crashed so much and franchise was so weak, I may not get this one.
Personally I think ESPN NFL 2K5 is the best football game out there. Like sallyy3 said, everything Madden is coming out wit now, ESPN NFL 2K5 already had. The group tackles, the weekly recap shows. EA Sports is behind.

Madden '11 and '12 got the exact same score ... 8.0 ... this got an 8.9 even though the negatives were the same as the first two. How does that work? Is it a higher score because it was better than Madden '09?
snes sports games looks cooler cause 2d make it looks like a comic book. realistic simulation games are not fun to play. plus snes only have few commands so easier gameplay. doesn't mean easier game.
I like all the added features the video game makes. This is way i was playing ESPN 2K5 More than i was playing Madden. Espn2k5 on PS2 had more things to do than Madden did at the time. 25th Anniversary Mode, First Person View, The Crib, Chris Bermans Scores and Highlights on Sports Center. This game was based off Sunday Night Football Even the Suzy Koblar is in it after the game with interview of the player. if i spend $60.00 there better be more than just game play ESPN2K5 $20.00
Well, to each his own I suppose. 2k did have better presentation, I'll grant you that. And if you ask me the whole license things is absurd because competition creates a better end product, but I still prefer Madden
i think the only problem i ever had with all the maddens (dont know if its the same for nfl 10 dont have it) is there are always too many interceptions on both player and cpu controlled teams. Thank god for sliders
i been playing madden for over 15 years now...and this one sux...08 was the best..should have never sold it for this one....all the online players just do screens to the left or right..and the corners and linebackers NEVER pick it up...always HUGE gains...WACK

A ten would make it perfect. He is looking at the game for what it is and games have their flaws. Should they give a horrible CoD game 10 because of the franchise. No. So they should do the same for Madden. Fair review IGN.
the fact that you hit a directional button makes you cut or juke doesnt add realness to the gameplay it makes it difficult to run upright. this is by far the worst time i have ever had on madden. controls are shotty and the gameplay isnt great either. pressure comes when i max protect and interceptions are thrown to guys 5 yards from the play. i had one player catch a ball 5 yards from him because he was close to it. he suddenly jumped to the spot and caught the ball. it should not happen.
I'm going to download the roster updates as soon as preseason ends. Another thing: Can I use it for the Franchise that I already have or do I have to erase it and start a new one?
This game sucks. I can't believe after all the patches there are so many problems like the ball not spinning and various play clock issues. The presentation is awful as well. The only change i liked from 09 was the addition of authentic QB throwing styles. Still, i'd give this game a 7 at the MOST
@Ps3COD4Fan not too far off from differences, 12 has a little better gameplay, graphics are the same except for the field, but if you don't feel like spending 40-60$ at all, 10 is perfectly fine.

didn't like the genetric commentary. The gameplay way better. The graphics, unbelievable. For Madden 11 they need to do a highlight show, like SportsCenter or something like that.

or how out of know where you will be called for holding and you look at the replay and there was nothing at all. And here is the best one how the receivers can run out of bounds and then come back in and still catch the ball. That is priceless. And I don't suck at madden. I have noticed the cpu cheating for about 7 years now. Maybe its because i am not a band wagon and go play with the three best teams in the game Saints Colts and the Cowgirls. And madden was a raider coach so he hates the 9ers
I think how it is so cool how the cpu has to cheat to win. Like if you play on all madden and you turn the ai up it is super ridiculous. Lets say that you are going for it on 4th down and your reciever is open he will drop the pass. Or how sometimes that when you are playing man defense and for some reason your defender will all of a sudden blitz the quarterback and forget about his assignment. Or how if you score then next possession the cpu will score
mujst be nano blitzin or sumtin and stay away from people with records like that till u do. i love playin 120-7 rec people cuz they do the same play over and over and if u stop them is a solid win but they doin cuz they think people cant stop it raiders have a a great db line up but it can be taken advantage of if he plays the way i think he plays. i havent met a defense that i cant explore and i use the rams most of my loses came from wen i first got the game, internet crash or a close loss
Buy it used from Gamestop, that way you can return it if you don't like it, or you can rent it. The calls from the ref are good about 80% of the time but they are very inconsistent when catches are made near the sideline or in the endzone. Those are HUGE issues if you ask me. The refs don't discriminate against the A.I. team either as the computer opponent made several catches inbounds, but the ref called them incomplete passes.. I'll make a vid the next time it happens. :)
2k5 was definitely the better game, but Madden still outsold them based on the name. Madden 06' 07' 08' 09' all blew donkey balls. EA is finally waking up to the fact that the name alone won't keep selling games if they suck. (declining sales) So, they put stuff from 2k5 into Madden 10.. at least it is a step forward. Hopefully EA will finally make a Madden that will convince me to put down 2k5... 10 came close, but not quite.
they need to fix up somethings graphic wise thought...on this video review i still saw peoples helments and body going thru other player legs (1:58)......and wtf LT's helment is in da grass at (2:06)....and the players movement look definetly way better than before but still look pretty robotic especially lineman....i hope thats something madden fixes in the next 2 or 3 years...make them look smoother not still pretty robotic
Man, Madden´s funniest modes, the Superstar and the Franchise is completely ruined because of the online gaming shit.. In Madden 09 you could create your player, train him better, interviews all the time, constantly making progression. But in Madden 10 everything is gone??! I cant play online, does that mean I did throw away all my money for this game I used to love? Erase the "halftime show", erase all the useless crap everybody gets tired of after one game and start making a new Madden 06!!
i dont see why people hate on this game? i almost never fumble. you probably fumble because while sprinting you get trucked / hit sticked. you gotta hit stick people when they come head on at you or they will hit you for a big loss. The graphics are nice and so is the gameplay. I think this is better then any other madden, i used to have '04 for the ps2 and i liked it. But now i like madden 10 more then any other game, maybe even cod4!

I would of been happy if they just 1. gave me better rush blocking 2. fixed the fact that "my skill" always sets the bar above your actually skill level and 3. gave me some customizable TD moves or some real stuff like a frustrated lineman after he gets beat 2 times in a row so you have to decide to leave him in or take him out cause his agression might make him better or it might cost you a down on a penalty....not too much to ask is it?
So... I find it to be like.. INCREDIBLY difficult to play on the "My Skill" Difficulty setting... lol... like... it starts off cool... but then its like the running get becomes completely impossible... like.. i got 5 rushing yards one game... They need to work on the rush blocking.. its terrible.. and they need to make the "My Skill" Difficulty setting more accurate, so i dont have to cheat to have fun.
real "foot" skills, running and juking and spins are real foot skills, may not involve moving with a ball on your foot or kicking, except with kicking field goals and to be honest soccer is like american football, both pretty much consist of the same amount of strategy and tactics and require subtle and individual talent, both sports require teamwork you can't have a good player and sucky team in both sports and be a good team, so in my mind requires some different skill sets but similar in ways
now i'm tell u right now that i have respect for soccer but i have more respect for American Football players and Rugby players than i do soccer players i've played all three sports and i must say that american football takes great strength, speed, instincts, smarts, great stamina to be played, so does soccer but at a greater amount strength and smarts, not saying soccer does requires smarts just american football demands more, you play the game and try saying the same thing again, u won't i bet
ok first im not ur "Buddy" second iv been playing madden since madden 98, third graphics do make a game better. fourth the slower game play is alot better for real time scenarios. 5th try a lower difficulty i play all madden an the interception to touchdown ratio is fine for me. just cause u have played it long dont mean ur good. so how bout u click on a little game mode called PRACTICE and you Practice your passing skills.
What pisses me off the most is when you guys say. Oh it's the same game. Don't buy it! This is a great football game. And I'm not sure what you want them to change about a football game. I mean, they have limits they're not writing their own story you no. Give EA a break. Madden needs to do what ESPN 2K5 thought of.... interviews after the game player of the half play of the game highlights of other games they need to focus on the rest of the game and stop focusing on gameplay... the gameplay is fine already everyone knows that... if they make "The Crib" like they did in 2k5 Madden would be 10x better... also the 25th anniversary mode, First person view and more.

After Game Scores Highlights interview player of the game Gatorade dunk on coach when going to playoffs Players in Lockers with celebrating over a huge win or Super Bowl i would buy it
Madden is cool and everything don't get me wrong. The gameplay is awesome but they need to focus more on what i mention besides gameplay. i would like to see madden look more like real football (not just in graphics and gameplay) show scores and highlites of other games. Maybe even highlights between plays of other games. If they do the 25th Anniversary Mode and add more games including "The Crib" Madden would be awesome. i didn't really care for 2008 or 2009 (only the gameplay part)

Madden has its faults, but stop comparing it to 2k5.
no nfl 2k5 didn't have a 9 man gang tackle but neither did madden in 05. And i am sure 2k would have made another game if they didn't let EA buy them out and then EA would have had competition and made their games better. But instead they can just give you the same game as last year and just change it from 09 to 10 and you cant do shit about it because they are a monopoly and if you want a football game theirs is the only one.

i cant even play madden 10 or anything after it. the gameplay is slowed down so much that i get so frustrated trying to make my guy run faster that its not even fun to play. sure its more realistic but its weird and not as fun. its like a new baseball video game that came out. i forget the title but people said it was too realistic because baseball just isnt that fun.
defense isnt that good in 2k5 too me...in madden 10 its great to work with. the running game in 2k5 is hit or miss jus like madden it jus depends if u can play d...in 2k i find people jus let the cpu make plays in madden 10 u hafta to work and think. thats in my opinion from the people i play and i was talkin bout user controls it jus seems to not be as easy madden
the only major thing backbreaker is advertising is physics and how the tackling will be better and harder but wheres the game play? thats wat seperates madden from 2k the ease of control...and sure backbreaker may be good...until the glitches show then everymone will be back pray for a football savior lol
and that's way american football has more injuries than rugby then right...both sports require tough players to be played, that padding doesn't protect as well as u think it does...but i got to agree soccer is a bit boring... 90 minutes of running back and forth trying to soccer a goal, no tackling involved so yeah kinda is boring...but that's my opinion
you kidding me? i bought madden 10 and they have some big hits! me and my friend were playing if you use a dualshock 3 controller, it vibrates plus the screen shakes and the hits are awesome. my friend was on goal like and hit triangle and tried to jump over the line but i hit him in mid air and he did like a 360 it was sooo siik!@#
I think this game will be as good as 09 possibly better, it appears to have lots of good new game modes which will be great to play with new madden player. I only have two dislikes and they are, even more cartoon graphics on the wii and on wii you have to unlock franchise and superstar mode. Great game look forward to getting it for my wii soon
Madden NFL 10...8.9. Madden NFL 11...8.0. Madden NFL 12...8.0. Yup I've been playing madden 10 for two years now and I'm fine. 11 and 12 don't even feel like Madden anymore. Plus after a few roster tweaks I have the same rosters that 12 has. (Except for a few rookies of course)
