Having landed so many times in this airport, as a passenger, it's always comforting to watch this videos

Emi. Many thanks for another fascinating piece of the jigsaw. Could you address the setups required for RNP AR landing and take-off. In the video, you turned off the A/P immediately before touch-down and didn't address take-off processes. Many thanks.
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
There really isn't much setup required. Do the same as for a standard RNP approach (see my RNP Approach tutorial if you haven't checked it yet). The AR doesn't really make it any different from standard RNP appraoches (technically), it simply means that due to certain factors such as missed approach guidance, loss of RNAV capability on the approach, etc. the authority requires the airline to get approval to conduct this particular approach. This usually means the airline will develop a training session and preparation material for the pilots.

0.1 nautical mile precision is hardly accurate, you sure that's correct? I'd expect 0.1 feet or meters to consider it highly accurate position.
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
Yes, it is correct. It is the kind of accuracy we're talking about in aviation. We can't go down to the meters or centimeters, our aircraft wouldn't be able to fly that anyway.

Do you use the standard plane with the updated avionics? On mine external power knob is not clickable.. I dont understand why 😅

I’ve noticed currently some RNP-AR approaches the LNAV in the 737 just adds extra fixes then it’s all straight lines in between to look like a smooth turn. Is this something being worked on? YBHM RWY14 was my last flight I saw this
@waynevanwyk2870
@waynevanwyk2870 Год назад
I still find it hard to believe that PMDG is almost 2 years on MSFS, and still no proper RNP approaches can be done. The fact that the cessna draws the lines so elegantly and PMDG can't is really breaking my brain.

in my opinion its sad to se it go i loved that visual approach but once more pepole get approved like tui ryan air i think the visual will be gone

also have you flown into maderia considering the airline i think you work at im not gona say for ovious reasons
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
I don't think the visual will go any time soon, most operators still use the visual these days. For sure my airline does, we don't have that RNP AR approval at Madeira. I haven't flown there yet, unfortunately. Even though I'd be tempted to apply for the base for a year or so, it would surely be one hell of an experience!

The Canarsie approach at jfk needs this rnp it’s currently an rnav that so far none of the planes in the sim make that final right turn after passing the race track I always have to disconnect the a/p and take over.

This was the #9 most difficult approach on the History Channel's top 10. There is a great video of this approach done the 'oldfashioned'/manual way from 10 years ago by 'GVad the Pilot'. Tech sure has made this approach a lot easier.
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
I need to have a look at that! Surely tech made life easier, but the visual approach is still used by many airlines over at Madeira!

Is the Longitude only availible in the MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition?
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
Correct, the Longitude is only available in Premium Deluxe. I'm afraid I haven't seen any way to purchase it separately yet.

I know previously you said the PMDG LNAV was the best in MSFS, how close would you say the WT LNAV is now?
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
It's very good, follows the route very precisely. At least for a 737 however probably too precisely. Sure enough on an RF leg the 737 is also accurate, but especially when changing speed during a turn the 737 tends to get inaccurate while the WT LNAV is still quite accurate. So I'd probably say the 737's still better. WT might have become too perfect ;-)
@blueline308
@blueline308 Год назад
@@A330Driver Huh? That makes no sense.
@ashc151
@ashc151 Год назад
@@blueline308 I think he means the WT LNAV is too accurate and therefore unrealistic. The 737's LNAV is a little less accurate which makes it more true to its real-world system.
@mattnischan582
@mattnischan582 Год назад
It's somewhat apples and oranges. The 737NG is a much older system. Having watched numerous reference videos of the real C700 and looked at a lot of flight data, I would say the real aircraft is definitely this accurate, and so that's how we modeled it.
@softreset82
@softreset82 Год назад
As the PMDG doesn't fly proper RF legs, it's probably an unfair comparison. It's still not able to fly the appropriate track miles as indicated on the chart and just shortcut its.
@grinningllama
@grinningllama Год назад
Why is this approach restricted? I would have expected that a precision approach would actually be preferred by the airport instead of a visual one.
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Год назад
Because of the very close proximity to terrain. What do you do if you suddenly loose RNAV capabilities while on the approach? What's your way out? That's all stuff that operators need to define in order to get approval to execute this approach.
@birdman4274
@birdman4274 Год назад
@@A330Driver I agree. This is really impressive but should anything go wrong the pilot needs to get on it fast. It's so close to terrain at this level and hands off.
