a good trick is to isolate the bass sample you want to use and run it through a parametric equalizer that way you can tune the individual frequencies themsleves. turn the low end frequencies up as high as you can with out causing distortion then run everything through a compressor to boost the whole sound. but there are many other ways to do it.
tolerate people trying to play silly stupid things just for the sake of it. That's just one tiny thing of Libs past work that irked me a little, but on the real, he can really lay shit DOWN. I appreciate both for their contributions to this art, and I doubt they'll ever stop inspiring me to do what I do.
[as] and stones throw have a partnership going on and they have had that partnership for quite a while. I dont know particularly why it was made, but I think the decision to do so was for the sake of some kind of atmosphere that they wanted to capture.
I visited this video more than any other video on youtube for some reason...it just shows up in related videos and I immediate click on it. It's like a drug and I'm addicted :P I keep coming back to it and I don't know why! I just love this sh*t!! X
thanx for the feed back. Glad you like it... yeah ive recorded some stuff in the past, mostly cause my friends think i have sick vocab... whatever, i never did think it was that great. Anyways, my true calling is making beats.
ATTENTION: You can buy the album off of the stones throw hyperlink that is posted in the video description. I finally changed the tittle of the video also to the correct name for all those that are wondering. "Pikes Strike" was not the correct name of the song.
@Turntabalistic this is the beat konducta vol:0 read the video description. there you will find a link that will take you to the stonesthrow site where they are selling both the individual MP3s as well as the vinyl album
ohh and do you hear that harp in the background...that artist name is dorothy ashby one of the greatest jazz harpist ever...in fact the only one i think...look her up on youtube also
@jamekididdleshmiddle not all madlib beats are supposed to be sick. the same goes for dilla. they were meant to catch the ears of all types of different music lovers.
@jamekididdleshmiddle Lootpack anyone? Dilla heard that album and went crazy. After he heard that is when they became friends. AND madlib mixed "the rough drafts" mixtape in like a week. LOL! dude... to each his own i guess but YES madlib IS a sick producer... period.
@AnttheCaesar nope! pikes strike is not the correct name of this song. the correct name of this song is Ashby Road; its on track 11 of Madlib's Beat Konducta Vol. 0 album... look at the link in the video description to find out for yourself. Yes this song was an AS bump long ago but this particular bump is an unofficial bump i made one day cause i was bored
i can't listen to this without thinkin' of INI's "Fakin' Jax" since pete rock used the same sample to make the beat for that and the way lib uses it in this sounds a tad similar dope shit though. makes me wanna go parasailing
the name of the ablum is Beat Conductor, with a C. Dont quote me on that, I could be wrong. I posted up the wrong track title on accident, its actually called "Ashby Road"
this nigga Lib is raw at makin beats nuff said him dilla go back and were homies who cares whose better, Lib stated he makes 30+ beats a day and 4/5 of the beats dont leave the crib that's like 80% of the beats he makes don't make it to PBwolf but the shit that does is forsure fire
Lib is a helluva sonic engineer, but with that, so was Dilla. I don't think you can really say which ones better, because neither is. I've been listening to Dilla beats before I knew who he even WAS, smell me? Tribe, Busta n all them. Lib can really lay down a groove, but a couple of his jawns seem to be off kilter just for the sake of being off kilter, which I can't say I really appreciate. Thelonious was looked at as whacky (musically), but really, he was musically tight, and didnt...

@365spook yo check the video description. its gives you a link to the stones throw site where you can DL either the album or the individual song. you can also get the vinyl too if you want.
