When Planet Eclipse releases a new gun it's always worth looking into. The Gtek 160R uses the orginary Gtek's heart and puts it in a Geo 3.5-esque body and proves to be no exception to the rule. This offering is definitely seeking to dominate its market and appears to be on the right path featuring impressive reliability and a metal frame that is harder than rock (giggle). Call it what you will, upper mid-range, lower high-end, the Gtek has been taken to the next level and it has been begging to shine here.

The point of the GTEK 160R is to keep ppl out of the used gun market i.e. why buy a used GEO that may be broken when you can get a 160R with full warranty.

Well I think that SP dropped the RSX price by 100$ because they know that the Shocker will never outclass the Gtek 160R at the same price. At the end of the day, the Shocker uses old technology and is built with looks over substance. Is it a bad gun? No! Not at all! But I think that the Gtek 160R offers so much more

well the RSX has had a handful of issues over the few years its been around. I think even before the price drop it was selling in a higher tier than it should have been in at launch

Hey man, I have been looking into the 160r and a geo 3.5. I haven't a good response from other RU-vid channels and you seem very subscriber interactive. I can't find many comparison videos between the two and was wondering if you could help me out on making my decision. As far as the bolt systems etc. hope you reply

Got a axe 2.0 was happy with it but not really impressed. So I sold it for more than I bought it for and getting a 160r

160R. Ego 11 solenoids are made by MAC Valves and are too old and not user serviceable. The 160R solenoid is made by PE using and SMC pilot.

I shot a few Gteks and I'd still argue a broken in Geo 3 shoots better, but the gtek shoots very similar to a Geo 2.1

Keep in mind that the 160R shot feels more clean than the ordinary Gteks because of the metal frame. Energy is dissipated differently. You're probably confusing sound and feel. The Geo 3 has a hissy sounding shot, the Geo 2 has a poppy sounding shot and so do the Gteks. The dynamics of the air in the Gtek all in all have more in common with the IV core than with the Geo 2 or 3. That's not to say they're too similar though.

It's pretty much right at 2 pounds or 1 kilo. That's about the same as any Geo (except the CS1)

I would say the 160R has an edge here. Though they both operate at the same pressure, the 160R releases less air per shot too. This makes it more efficient and I also feel like this makes it a bit smoother and for sure quieter.

They do, it's called the Lv1.1 :-) They occasionally go on sale and you'll get really sweet prices.

The Madman well not really. The lv1.1 was an upgraded lv1, not an upgraded etek. If they did that, they would put the pops asa on the 160r. Why would an upgraded etek have lv1 in its name. I could go on and on why the lv1.1 is not an upgraded etek.

I never made the claim that the Lv1.1 is an upgraded Etek, I'm saying that the 1.1 is already occupying the spot in the market that an upgraded Etek would cover; making said upgraded Etek an unnecessary piece of kit to sell or manufacture for that matter.

They shoot nicely. People call them the "Squish" because the shot feels soft and squishy. Keep in mind that it does feel slow as well, so it doesn't give me the right amount of positive feedback for gun-fighting; this changes from player to player obviously.

I lightly covered that in the written review. But in short, the 160R is simply a more solid and reliable performer when compared to the Shocker. Some guys might find a big appeal in the Shocker being 5 ounces lighter though.

I'll probably end up buying the 160R. I just need to mourn the loss of the AC-threaded freak all american barrel a bit and cough up the dough for a freak-ready back and then be happy with having a longer controll piece. As you pointed out.

If you *need* a softer shot to compete I guess your best and probably only option is a balanced spool valve gun. They're not my favorite because I can't truly count on them (they tend not to be the most reliable) but I enjoy picking them up every once in a while. The ASA isn't really a hardline because no hose of any kind connects to it. In any case, there's a milled round step that keeps it stable on the frame plus two bolts. They went for a locked ASA for reliability, so no, you cannot slide it back and forth.

Depends on whether or not you already have a good hopper and if you plan on getting the OLED if you get the Gtek. You are getting more from the 160R, but you have to measure your own interests to decide if those features are worth it or not to you.

Beyond the spool vs. poppet discussion it really is up to your willingness to spend 200$ more on the LV1.1 to get the POPS and the High end LCD board.
