I reeeeaally enjoy you doing these videos. It's quite interesting to see the differences in damage the classes can do in full burst. And even though madness is better - Lightning wins purely on looks ;)
What about using Shock in Lightning? With the utility, if you can apply a slow, the second hit is equal to a Crushing Darkness buffed Shock. You lose 25% DR, but the extra burst is higher than Lightning flash. Could go something like hard casted HO (root for 0.5) > Shock > TB > HO. Using Shock later would make timing it inside Crushing Darkness way harder. And for sure, it relies on the enemy not having a slow immunity up.
@@ivano1337 - 3s 20% move speed - If a target is snared (root or slow), a second Shock hit equal to a Crushing Darkness Shock hit which makes Shock deal more damage than Lightning Flash + Forked Lightning even without Crushing Darkness - 8s cooldown The extra move speed is not negligible. Especially considering the snares Lightning has. I guess I prefer it because there is lower skill ceiling to using it well. 25% DR for 6s needs to negate a burst window or it's wasted utility. Extra burst, extra DPS and extra move speed is almost always useful. And it can be used for every burst window, whether you have Crushing Darkness up or not. And Lightning Flash is still available to extend burst damage for one more GCD. Not trying to be annoying, I've been trying it out lately and I wonder if it's as good as I think it is. Like how often would 25% DR allow you to survive vs having more damage to just kill your opponent first.
My rotation is a bit different try this Reck&polarity ->death brand->affliction-> forces speed->force leech->creeping terror->force lightning×2->demolish->affliction->shock Without reck&polarity 356k 386k 334k 332k With reck&polarity 529k 453k 400k 454k This is assuming we have the same skill tree. For some reason couldn't get shock to crit..except for the 529k was the only one after many tries...all on the practice dummy.
Hmm, seems we are talking about different things. My rotation is meant to do the maximum damage in under 4 seconds. Yours takes around 10? Also, why force lightning x2?

@@ivano1337Suggestion: You could make healer burst comparison, which healer spec can heal single target best in 4-6 sec window. I know its not your cup of coffee. Maybe you could invite Tiba on the scene :-)
I don't really want to get into this completely but, there was a reason halted offense was nerfed. Them buffing it again was a bad move imo but it was the lazy way to do so. The damage spread on lightning is awkward, for example force speed amp is better used on halted as halted has a higher range it can hit versus thundering. When also playing lightning, shock plays a large role and a huge portion of your damage overall when used properly, do note the talent that makes project/shock better but you have to sacrifice cloud mind for it which is usually an instant nonstarter for some. Don't sleep on Power of the Force/Halted offense, it goes through merc reflect and I was hitting 115k's with it back in 328's pre it getting nerfed. I haven't really bothered to play lightning much since nor with this ability as I am an AoE enjoyer on classes with good AoE, it feels taboo to me to play dot explosion/single target on notoriously known aoe specs. With knowing that you guys can squeeze a bit more out of your windows and have a little bit of a better understanding on lightning but at the end of the day remember classes have defensives and they vary. For example hitting a dot DR spec immediately nerfs plague master and hitting a heavy armor target immediately nerfs halted. You have different targets you want to aim for to hit better bursts and targetting generally will net in the most damage difference gain. They're both good.
Yeah halted pre nerf was fun. Also that bug with unlimited range, interrupt hypergate cap from the shelter 😂 But now it can hit 100k again on the dummy, which is good. Tbh I never tried the shock talent. Does it make shock worth it outside of crushing darkness?
Anytime they're slowed and there's no other high priority move outside of filler available it becomes best. @@ivano1337 It can hit over 100k on actual players though, running it with EC can be a lot of fun once you've adjusted to lining speed with halted along with other amps.
interesting you mentioned shock on Ling sorc. I wonder if it buffed Shock talent on slow + Crushing Darkness buff Shock + Ticking Force Time Bomb tactical can do any good dps.

Am I right in thinking that if you're using Plaguemaster to finish off your dots, you wouldn't use Tempest of Rho as your tactical (since the dots ticking are where the extra damage comes from)? And if so, which tactical do you use in Rho's stead?
