Yeah I wish she was just into her music now instead of getting into skincare too. It seems like she’s gotten more superficial and out of touch with real people. The fact that she could afford to cut tracks like THIS from the final release shows just what an exceptionally high quality her + her producers output was at this time. A great era for pop generally, THE great era for Madonna! Ray Of Light was and is a heavenly creation. 25 years on I think I love it even more than I did back then. It just has magic running all through it!
I can -- it's much too direct and straighforward in the lyrics. It sounds heavy-handed, compared to the other tracks that made the cut. (We can also clearly hear the lyrics she decided to keep from this track in her other sogs) An interesting liten for sure, but I can see why it wasn't kept.

This is better than 80% of the album. Probably be issued on a Super Deluxe 3CD issue in the future. I've heard shes doing it with all her albums in 2023.
I was looking for a song like this and ..Madonna provided! of course! ..."Hate destroys the one who hates and every suffers the same". How come I had never listened to it before and she kept it out of Ray of Light, one of her best albums and one my favourite too? Well, thanks to YT I found it. And I loved that look she had here! the long Pre Raphaelite hair. Rightfully best cover of that year ;-)
For those asking, I think "Revenge" didn't make the final cut because it's the first version of the song we would later know as "Frozen", the album's lead single. Both songs are very alike in lyrics and concept. The main difference is that "Revenge" is an upbeat song (like many others on ROL) while "Frozen" is a poignant, low-tempo song. This is just my theory. LOL

It feels like Revenge was one of the first song recorded for the album, I don't know if we know anything about it. Lyrics, beat and the vocals are divided into 3 songs and they're mastered to be something different than this raw masterpiece. I think Revenge is not a good fit for the album as this way. Even the name "Revenge" wouldn't be appropriate for the album's transforming, introspective and peaceful ambient. But I hope it will be remastered and released on streaming platforms as single.

If madonna would have added these unreleased song on Ray of Light instead it would have been one of my favorite madonna albums up there with her Earlier releases.
+simon nix, It may seems bullshit (and it is), but this album is based on numbers, there are only 13 musics on it. I think that is why this masterpiece is not on Ray of Light.

This sounds like it could be on Erotica. Especially the tone of her voice when she sings “let them go” at 1:45, it sounds like her pre-Evita vocals. I always believed this was a Ray of Light outtake but I now believe it could be from Erotica. I can hear Donna singing after the chorus too.
it was cut from the album because it was written with another producer before she decided to use William Orbit . since this isnt his song it wasnt part of the final album . It was then romoured to be her bond theme but that was faulse . still better than Die Another Day
Love the hell out of this ROL sessions demo. Wish her and Orbit had seen it to the end. It's begging for a re-release in the future with a remix by Warner. It will happen.

The song is one of my favorites that has never been released. It should have been on the album, it is stayed with me and I'm always thinking of this song I Love It!
I think that this song was in early stage a precursor of Frozen. They both have orchestral intro and both of them are about not taking revenge, suffering of hate and to regret
I agree. If we drown ourselves in Revenge we all will suffer and pay for what we've done! I Love Madonna's writing and message in this Art Dance. She's become a better person because of Ray of Light and her subsequent art songs thereafter. I Love You Madonna!

Ray of light was her masterpiece. She won 4 Grammys just for that album. We need an album like that again, her dance albums should be release as side work. Lyrically, she did good on True Blue and Like a prayer according to her age. Then American life was good also lyrically, but these new songs are not for a 54 year old woman, she should have heavy, deep, dark and bright music. She's a huge megastar, she needs to keep up!!
