@@MrSmriley hmmm there was definitely a man on synth adding lower strings, but we were actually mic’d and playing! We performed with her several times that year as she was in-discussions to play our violin teacher in a film (which ultimately went to Meryl Streep)

The band isn't even playing... she's singing to the album track without a doubt. So the band is just pretending to play. I assume they did the same for the actual show. I've seen it done before. It's ridiculous.

I listened again and have a different opinion. The album track is playing but I can hear some live instruments contributing, like the percussion. Basically the live musicians are contributing to the track but not in a substantial way. That's what it sounds like to me. They're trying to make it seem like it's a completely live performance, but it's not. I am a stickler for singers/bands trying to mislead audiences. (Lip syncing being another obvious example.) I don't like when singers try to mislead me. It's deceitful and cynical. That said, she sounds good and it's a beautiful song.👍

I really love late '90s and early 2000s Madonna. I feel like this was a time when she was in her prime as an artist and also in her physical appearance. I thought she looked so beautiful in this era. I also think she would have aged really beautifully if she didn't do all the plastic surgery and fillers and just took really good care of herself.

Well think again. Discounting great singers because they aren’t Mariah or Whitney is so tired. Michael and Prince never get this kind of disrespect. Madonna is not trying to be Aretha. Madonna looked so futuristic and ahead of her time during the ROL era. At the same time classy and exquisite. I was still yet to enter the school back there to like her music or even remember her as a genius artist (became a fan in the early 2000s), and it makes me wonder what it was like to witness Madonna at the peak of her beauty, art and career. ROL was truly a rebirth for her.

I love how she ‘respectfully’ reminded the announcer who was really large & in charge and it wasn’t HIM. He was quite condescending, silently rolling his eyes as he did it “ Her Way”.
