Madonna's ballads are all masterpieces. Most people know her for her 'pop' music, but true fans know her ballads are where it's at 👌 Love your videos 😊
I love her dance music, but her ballads are next level. Listen to Rain, The Power of Goodbye, Live to Tell and those are just the tip of the iceberg. She has so many hits.
Came here to say pretty much this. While her biggest hits were pop powerhouses, her ballads was where her talent shined most. Live to Tell is her high water mark IMO and absolutely the peak of her work.
Stunning!!! “You’ll See” is the follow up song to this and it’s even more stunning. Babyface on backup vocals here. Also helped produce/write. Back in the day he was the man lol.👌🏼👌🏼
He was the best engineer of her voice, and his paired so perfectly with hers. I always wished she would have hired him to produce another album for her.
"This Used To Be My Playground" from the film "A League Of Their Own" (which also stars Madonna along with Tom Hanks and Geena Davis) is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and fits the movie so well. The song plays at the end credits. One of Madonna's purest and overall best songs that is not as memorable as her other songs but is definitely worth a listen.
Ray of light should be next, because once again it's a totally different sound, so glad you did this one though cause it's amazing, one of my favorites THX...♡
This was written and produced with Babyface who is also singing the background vocals. One of my favorite Madonna songs and one of my suggestions. Thanks for the reaction Jovaughn!!😍😍😍
the background vocals were done by Babyface Edmonds. who also wrote and and produced the song. He also wrote and produced the biggest R&B acts of the early 90s with his distinct production, of course one of the biggest was Boyz II Men. He did a great job creating this song with Madonna. This song was #1 for 9 weeks in 1995, marking a huge comeback after the backlash from the erotica era. great reaction
Great reaction! Madonna's ballads are the best. You must react on You'll see, I'll remember, Oh Father, This used to be my playground... Madonna is genius!
Madonna is the complete artist. The video to this was also epic. Like a movie like art! Her ballads are always on point. Babyface did a brilliant production on this. What a combo! Loved the reaction Jay!
Always loved this song.. If u like this w/ the harmony, u might like "This use to be my playground" (from the League of their own movie)...video on RU-vid, that's another great one ppl forgot about 😄
I always think I've heard this song too many times, but when it starts playing...I have to listen to it. Her vocal performance, that hesitancy and delicate delivery. The production of this entire thing...Babyface. On his game. One of the most nostalgic '90s songs for me.
Her versatility is unmatched!! She has powerhouse dance hits, but she also has ballads hits too!! She writes, compose and produces them. In fact, she has a compilation of all these low-tempo/ballads hits, which has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide!
Absolutely love 'Take a Bow'. So strange that it was 7 weeks at #1 in America but would become one of her first singles to miss the UK Top 10, peaking at #16 in December 1994. My other 2 faves from Madonna are 'Live to Tell' and 'Bad Girl' (A fab video featuring Christopher Walken). Definitely worth checking out. 😉
The song is like a sensual lullaby....sleepy, yet sensual and wistful. Such a beautiful melody and one of my favourites from Madonna. You should listen to 'Rain'. I think you'd love that one Jay
She must be the most diverse female artist and she mastered every genre. Love this calming soulful r&b ballad. This album called Bedtime Stories was amazing. I recommand you check out Secret, which was the first single, beautiful and a supernice video as well. She was doing the r&b thing so good at the time. Love her vocals.
Her videos are always top tier, as most everything about her is really. Madonna's an incredible entertainer. I remember her debut so well, I was 22 yo (it was a long time ago lol) and my generation was ready for her. She came out a superstar and just kept slamming hit after hit. I'd like to see her age gracefully and stomp her boot down on pop culture with something brand new. I know it gets harder but she is capable of it and I'd never be surprised.
I listen to it all the time at the moment. Timeless piece of art, so relaxing. Love Tried To Welcome Me, Sanctuary, Bedtime Story= eargasm. I drove home from the gym being totally tired today and it put me in such a nice relaxed mood.
I LOVE this song and video! The bullfighter is a real bullfighter, it was filmed in Spain, produced by legendary Babyface (please go down a hole with his collection of works!), it helped her get the lead role in Evita, and has only been performed live twice.
Madonna's video actually captured a few tidbits of our dying culture, the knock in the bed,the prayers here and there, and a few other bits.Enjoy all you want,America!
This is a Madonna ballade at its best. Top notch - also in terms of the video production. In the early 90ies, the record labels still had money for good cinematography…
Madonna has so many great songs, but her ballads are killer! The way she sings them...you can feel the emotions. One of my favorites is called Promise To Try from her Like A Prayer album. She wrote it for her mother who passed away from cancer when she was a child. It always reminds me of my grandmother. You have to listen to it! Also Rain, Power of Goodbye, Oh Father, Something To Remember, Love Don't Live Here Anymore, In This Life, so many more!
That low register singing reminds one of Karen Carpenter who Madonna has said was one of her early influences. At the time this was her best selling record.
I always liked this song. She's got some pretty nice ballads. They tend to be a little melancholy. Listen to Madonna's "bedtime stories". She collaborated with Bjork for that song. Great video too.
I’m not too much of a Madonna fan, but this is one of my favorites from her collection of music. “You’ll see “is my absolute favorite, and her work on the Dick Tracy soundtrack, and Evita. She lets her voice shine without the hype.
Bravo! I first heard this song yrs ago and I was totally memorized by the tune! Heard it 25 yrs later and it still keeps me memorized by its haunting melody.
Her 80's stuff will always be my favourite cause I was at school then.but there are later songs I love as well and this is one of them.she giving us more voice and talent rather than body and trying to shock us
Madonna is a prolific lyricist, and to me, her ballads are where she shines the brightest. I still feel like many people do not give her enough credit in the area of writing songs.
Mariah and Madonna are my faves for different reasons. Mariah had the voice, the songwriting, the production, and yes she’s versatile she has done house, r&b, soul, pop, started the pop hip hop collab, and more. But Madonna is even more versatile in what she explores musically and she’s way more provocative visually constantly reinventing herself becoming a new artist every album sometimes every song
The unofficial audition for Evita. When that woman wants something she takes it. Took singing lessons to strengthen her voice for the role, this showed it off to perfection. It worked. LoL
Jay, here's Madonna extremes. Two very, very opposite sides: "Erotica" & "Justify My Love" Then go to 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 "You Must Love Me" & "Don't Cry For Me Argentina"
