He's even got the local idioms down pat and they still dubbed him over in the german release. This is a crime against art and the effort he put into this role.

Why on earth did they dub him in the German version?? He put the effort in to learn the lines in German and then they dub him anyway. What a waste of a lovely voice, lovely accent and hard work.

having recently watched die hard 3 and now seeing this, its such a relief to see a non-german actor actually speak somewhat good german

It is a crime this version is pretty much impossible to get. Like I paid money to watch it, only to realize they dubbed him with a German actor. He made the effort to learn another language for this movie, he does an amazing job with it, and then they replace his voice. I hate it and I hate the German dubbing industry as a whole. Won't watch it until I find the original version, hence the one where they let him keep his own voice. Update: The dvd has a version with his real voice so I bought it and I just watched the movie. What a great film and Mads' accent gives his character even more charm. I understood every word he said perfectly well, no freaking need to dub anything.

Love his versatile languages 🤩📈 The Door is such a calm roller coaster, seeing Mads character living the new live like usual but wrong things happen gradually, good pacing. I love that it's visually beautiful but also creepy, didn't expect to be that pretty unsettling to the end of the movie, very interesting bloody redemption, love the bitter sweet ending 🔥🫂

Always thought that Danes had it easier to learn german, 1 because of it borders to germany. 2 many words are loan words that is the same in danish.
