The Philadelphia 76ers finally got their first win of the season, defeating the Indiana Pacers 120-106. They are now 1-3 and James Harden finished with 29 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, while Joel Embiid with 26 points, five boards and two assists. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes share how confident they are in Philly after their first week of play. Meanwhile, Magic Johnson appeared on Shannon Sharpe's 'Club Shay Shay' to give advice to Russell Westbrook about handling criticism, saying quote: 'Take accountability .. stop trying to fight the media.' @Smoke some weeeeduh LeBron wanted Russ, but he’s not an executive for a reason. It’s up to the GM, the scouting team, the owner, the coach, everyone else in the FO to analyze Russ’ play, see if his game would fit. They did that with DeMar, and they said no to him. Rob and Jeanie wanted Russ too, that’s why they traded all their valuable role players and assets for him. They don’t flip their entire team if they’re not sure if they want him or if they think he’s a bad fit.

I've said from the beginning, the only way this has any chance of working is to have Russ come off the bench when LeBron is off the court. Russ could take all the shots with the second team, play his game and be effective, then get out of the way. They still need more shooting when LeBron is out there, but leaving Russ on the bench is effectively a little more shooting because whoever comes on in place of him will shoot better.

I completely disagree with Broussard's assessment with Harden. I feel he is playing exactly the way we need him to, and he's getting better at picking and choosing when it's time to go iso. Our 4 main scorers are all getting shots up, and Harden is not "dribbling the air out the ball", he is running our offense like a point guard. He as a result has the ball most of the time, similar to CP3, Luka, etc. And, something that Embiid has never had is a #2 that can take over and get buckets at will while still getting everyone involved. This is the Nets Harden pre-hamstring injury, and I'm loving it. Against, the Pacers we saw the Sixers move the ball more and push the pace more, I think they will continue to improve in those areas as the season continues. Maxey is getting shots, just missing right now, and Embiid's play against the pacers is what he needs to do consistently. So many in the media don't seem to watch the games fully, and so they rely on a player's history to describe what they are currently doing and then declare that's the reason a team is struggling. To me it seems like they have issues if Harden goes iso at all during the game. But that's silly b/c he's one of the best scorers ever, and all superstar/elite scorers have moments where they go iso and take over a game. Sixers are going to be nice come playoffs.

Guys!?! The reason Pelinka got an extension has to be because he wanted nothing to do with the Russ trade. It was Lebron’s move and he washed his hands of the transaction.
