Maradona is the player with the most extensive, sophisticated, unpredictable and extraordinary technical repertoire in football history. Magician, absolute genius!
@@Jaayiz messi got easier conditions to do it. He constantly played on carpets where he knew exactly how the Ball would behave. Maradona dribbled on pitches full of holes where the Ball bounced each few metres as against England in 1986. Messi was able to play simple gap Passes because the defense of his opponents stood mostly high compared to the 80s and in one line due to the offside rule change. In Maradonas time gap passing was harder because all defense lines stood deep in their half, manmarking for 90 min blocked each of Maradonas pass options while Messis teammates could move freely and create space. Also the sweeper in the 80s Interrupted a lot of gap Passes since he was behind the defense line. As for Shooting...Maradona scored goals with pin point shoots from 40m. There is a Video here on RU-vid where Maradona hit the post in a training Session multiple times outside the box on purpose. And Messi was bad at taking freekicks until Maradona became his Coach and Showed him how to take them. Also messi played with lighter balls which tend to have a huge curve and r waterproof. Maradona played with hard leather balls which could get heavy by Rain.
@@Dacio1202 that's a lot of words to say Messi is facing weaker competition that makes him look good. So CR7 is also a fraud too I guess. Zidane was also playing on good grass. Pele was playing on the same crappy fields and did more than Maradona. What is your argument exactly? Lol.
@@aledorta3796 legends only 😅 that's cruel but I agree major of them so called "modern football" generation are almost rubbish compared to the past ones
there is a video with just the fouls Maradona had to endure. It's unbelievable how he only reacted badly in that infamous fight against Athletic players but it was when he came back from an almost career-ending injury caused by the same team. He kept being kicked and standing up throughout his career without a single word.
mean and hard as iron that is what made him the greatest ever full stop Maradona. Played in an era where defenders went out to injure you and you got little protection from refs. Defenders hacked and stamped on his feet to slow him down. He played in a decent, but not, best club teams. He was instrumental in winning the world Cup with Agentina. If he played today, he would be killing it.
Its so much more intense without all that music, just commentators. Great video. Maradona played btw in an era where average goals in seria a were only 1,9 per match, even in la liga of the 80s it was only around 2,2. La liga in messis prime had 2,9 in comparison. Just shows the difference in resistance and how much better defense was back then when defender could do real tackles and rules werent changed to favour attacker. Just pay attention how each teammate of Maradona was manmarked and he caused constantly chaos just by his break throughs
How he's never seen in top 10 hardest player lists is unreal every player he went past put the boot into him. The fact he still takes them on and stays on his feet is unbelievable. He's the greatest player in history imo. People will say Messi and he is one of the greatest but he never ever had to endure the brutality Maradona had to withstand.
@@aceofrelax433 Diego came back from getting his foot nearly snapped off yet he came back stronger than ever Messi NEVER NEVER!!! had to with the brutality Diego dealt with and to end it off if we're talking talent Diego is just better
@@sensational_cellar8606 exactly like I said Leo never EVER!! had to deal with the abuse Diego did if you pit Diego in this era he would have accomplished what Messi has no problem

Not a 50 goals in a year; but rather a 50 goals in every 4 matches. He had all the qualities in football, flair, power, accurate passes, free kick expect and speed. What a gifted player!
So when people talk about Cristiano and Messi, I have to laugh! What Maradona did in that era of football against defensive teams and hatchet man defenders was nothing short of incredible.
The sheer brutality of the tackles hardly any tried to play the ball, he had to beat the opponents then ride the challenge or anticipate the foul to avoid it. Quite simply the best there has ever been no debate, and by a million miles better than Messi and Ronaldo.
1:00 Great dribbling with final assist for Caniggia. I remember that match: Argentina didn't play well and Diego neither but he only had one good chance in all match and he turned it into s magic play giving Argentina the victory
This man has the subtle art of escaping dangerous tackles . Everytime he’s hit he staggers up and continue . He’s doing this for the love of football not some footy show . Maradona is God
If only like Messi , he got the protection in his private and pitch life . Nobody born after 1980 would ever understand why I think Maradona is incomparable . Messi far far away ... He was very lucky in an age of growth hormones , good safety , science for the care of body . And he never encountered the " butcher of bilbao " ... Shortened Maradona ankle lifespan till 1989 ... 1990 onwards he is constantly plagued with injuries on the ankle . Who would care ? Who would even bat an eyelid to give Diego some excuse . Everybody looks at statistics only nowadays
Just look at the flying kicks and body checking going in every time he dribbles the ball. I grew up watching this stuff and didn’t appreciate at the time is what Maradona had to go up against, defenders literally trying to kick him out of the game.
From being there and watching Maradona at the time none of us had ever seen anything like Maradona. Maradona’s impact on football was greater than Messi’s. Messi is a genius, however, Maradona was a God.
Simple fact...if Maradona played today he'd be scoring insane amount of goals with the level of refereeing today which would have stopped those kind of insane career ending tackles every weekend.
With the rules of today, the protections and quality of the modern fields, Maradona will simply fly on the pitch. On the same time his drug abuse, would be hard to conceal.
Maradona simply had superhuman genetic advantages,,,his body was really build for this game. No one will ever come close to his genetic advantages!! Imagine Maradona today without the hard tackling allowed in the 80s. He would be unreal next level...no one could ever catch him..... The GOAT!!
In Modern football if you want a player like him to be back again then you need the ball to have way more friction on grass so that its doesnt fly that much and gives eniugh time for genius creativity. Thats what is missing from Modern footy and also what separates Maradona from Messi where Maradona's creativity is way more complex both in dribbling and passing.
Maradona is from a different planet, no one equals him in born talent.. but let’s give due credit to all the dedicated players like ronaldo and messi who excels even after 37 years of age.
He used his right foot so rarely that he scored about six goals with it during his entire career , He is probably the most one-footed player in history

To all who insist on comparing for the best or GOAT, here’s the truth without prejudice! So many factors to consider, best to ever touch the football, most consistent, valuable, or complete Which one? To me Maradona was the best dribbler and play maker the world has ever seen Messi came close, but he’s also more competent consistent and achieved far better, but then again there’s Pele who did everything everyone else did way before , only 3 times more, 70% of his footage doesn’t even exist
@Kōgan_Dekai exactly, you're right. Since xavi left Barcelona he never won the champions league. Why? In the first seasons after xavi left iniesta and neymar played there with him. A few years later he played with neymar, mbappe and ramos in PSG and they never won the champions league. And won the world cup with di Maria. Maradona won titles with the small Napoli and he won the world cup when there was no one like di Maria who played with him in Argentina, so it's ridiculous to say that messi's better than him
@@errezmardi506 Agree. And when Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol retired from the Spanish national team, Spain didn't win anything until this year. Seems that these 3 were more crucial to Barca's success than Messi. Argentina won the latest Copa without Messi basically. He wasn't needed. Di Maria is an underrated player; one of the best and Argentina's best player in the last World Cup.
