Your voice is so relaxing. For that reason alone I continually come back to your channel's tutorials. Not to mention, they are the clearest, most concise tutorials for crochet tips on RU-vid.
@@planetjunewhy can’t I follow these instructions? Like I’m using thick yarn cuz I accidentally bought a thick hook but like I can’t do the 6 single stitches
It could well be the yarn - I'd suggest you practice with a normal sized yarn and hook and get the hang of the magic ring like that before you try super-sizing it! (You'll also find it much more difficult to pull the ring closed with a very thick yarn.)
@@planetjune I just gave up on the magic ring entirely. I bought new yarn & hooks but the simple fact is I’m so uncoordinated and I took like ages to learn a slip knot and chain. It also could be the fact I’m left handed although i do certain things normally, I’m sorta like a mixture
I'm left-handed too, so I know how difficult that can make things in a right-handed world. You should watch the left-handed versions of my tutorials - that would make them much easier for you to follow! (There's a link in the description to the lefty version.) Please give it another go before you give up on it forever - that might make all the difference 🤞
Hello June, I have been crocheting for over twenty years and have been frustrated at times with instructions and teaching videos. I don't usually leave comments on people's sites. But I felt it important to express to you my sincere appreciation for your video. It was easy to see and understand. I understood it completely the first time I watched it! I will definitely refer to you in the future if I need further instruction. I will also refer you to my friends. You truly did a wonderful job!
The ability to explain a process clearly and concisely is a surprisingly rare skill. Before I found this video, I consulted several others, as well as some written instructions, all missing crucial bits of information, even when verbose and overly long. I was about to give up on the magic ring when I found this gem of a tutorial. Thank you, June Gilbank!
I've watched like 5 other magic ring video tutorials and none of them have the right combination of "explains it very clearly/audibly", "has the right camera angle/visibility of the stitching", and "goes at a speed that makes it easy to follow". This video is probably going to be my go-to for magic rings from now on, so...yeah, thank you for this ^^
I'm 72 and every time I get confused on how to make a Magic Circle, I come back to YOUR video. It is so much easier than others. Thanks for making it easier for "us ole' codgers" to understand. LOL
I'm the same. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I've done it while making up a project, if I've taken a long break from crochet, I have to go back to the tutorials again! :-)
Well done! Short, concise, and to the point! Simply stated and VERY easy to understand! It is SO nice to hear a video tutorial done by someone who speaks slowly, (but not to slowly) and with proper diction! VERY refreshing!
THANK YOU!!! I'm a visual learner, so word instructions and even photographs haven't helped me, but this video is fantastic!!! I was able to do it with you!!! Thank you so much!!!
FINALLY! Thank you!!! I've been crocheting for many decades, but mostly straight things -- afghans and so forth with various interesting stitches. I was going to make a hat for my sister-in-law, who is undergoing chemotherapy, and the instructions started with a magic ring which I have never used before. I found several videos that didn't work and got very frustrated but THIS ONE WORKED!!! And so easy! Thank you!!!
This is a wonderful video for who already know how to crochet it is not for newbies who do not know how to crochet she does not go fast and explains it very well. Thank you very much June I have crocheted for many many years and never knew about the magic ring
Dear June, You are gifted.I have watched 10,000 videos (ok, slight exaggeration :-) to learn the magic ring but after (about) 50 rewinds of your video, I finally got it. Kudos to you for taking the time show me something, that you probably think is very easy, that has been very hard for me to grasp the concept. That time has past. It's a wrap. I CAN DO IT. thanks again, pat v
I have tried to make a magic ring so many times, and none of the tutorials or videos I've tried have worked for me. This was perfect--I've now made my first successful magic ring!
I have watched many magic circle tutorials and never truly got it but made do. But, this is the best tutorial I have ever seen. I got it first time. Plus love the sweet accent! Hugs from across the pond in America!!!
LOVE this!! I am a first time crocheter and totally learning from video tutorials. YOURS are the best I have found!! Wishing you had more on basic crochet stitches etc because you are an amazing and effective teacher!! Thank you!!
Thank you, June, for sharing and going very slow during the demonstration. It really helped out this beginner. I am sure I will be returning to your channel as my skill progresses.
Thank you for the invaluable video tutorials, June. I reviewed many crochet tutorials on RU-vid before I found yours, and now they are the only ones I use to learn. Through your site, I've already learned how to do a really nice, tight, uniform single crochet stitch, and now my magic circle is coming along nicely. My goal, my holy grail, is to create adorable, perfect amigurumi. I also just purchased your book, Idiot's Guide to Amigurumi, which I recommend to everyone here. It is the perfect tool to augment the info you have online. I have sticky bookmarks all throughout! To all my friends here, if you want to learn to do Ami like I do, definitely buy June's book- it is like peanut butter to jelly! Definitely NOT repetitive. (No, I'm not a paid spokesperson, lol!) Next step for me is one of June's simplest Ami patterns- the hamster. Wish me luck!!
This is still the best video for how to make the magic circle; all the other methods make it seem so complicated! I'm so glad I found and saved this video
Thank you for finally making a tutorial that made sense, and that was visually easy to follow! The others I've found have either gone too fast or not shown the work clearly enough.
Thank you sooooo much for this tutorial! I searched and searched everywhere for a decent on (for begginners) and this is the perfect one. Thanks again.
I'm a beginner crocheter. I can knit almost anything, but crocheting is definitely a learning curve! I must have watched a dozen videos on how to crochet a magic circle, and yours was the magic key for me! Thank you so much for the simplistic instructions and taking it step by step slowly! :)
You are the BEST!!! I watched at least a half dozen videos, before I found you and now I'm well on my way to crocheting a ball for my small niece! Thank you!!!
Great video. I've crocheted for many years but I'm just starting amigurumi and your video is very clear and simple on how to make the magic ring. Well done.
This is the best and easiest video on how to properly make a magic ring. Other video's were way too confusing. Thank you for the video and really keeping it simple. Saving your vid for future use!!
I have watched so many videos and tried to learn to do this and finally I found your video! This has been the BEST explanation and example. Thank you so much for posting this!
Thank you very, very much, I have been crocheting for years and at 67 yrs old have learnt something new.....thanks to your very easy to follow instructions....
Haven't been crocheting for I think a couple of years and completely forgot how to make a tight ring so I came back to this tutorial and now I know again. Love your tutorial, to the point and unmistakably clear. Thank you!
Thank you! You refreshed my memory. I love to knit, and crochet for some reason baffles me, so I can use all the help I can get. This was clear and concise. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much for making this video. I've been trying to perfect this magic ring technique for a long time. Other videos are clear as mud, so they say. I've watched your video and been able to do it twice! Your explanation is great. Thank you!
Thank You for explaning it very well and demonstrating it PERFECTLY and the Lighting is just right I Love this video is one of the best for learning ghe Magic Ring 👏☺👍
I think most of the comments here reflect my own thoughts. All of your videos are so helpful without being long, drawn out affairs. Your calm way of explaining things means that I never get frustrated even when I make a mistake. Thank you so so much!!
oh my, i have been trying all day to figure this out from print to video. this one clicked; thanks for going slow and explaining as you go along. now i can say, thanks to your video, that i have mastered the magic ring. thanks!
For those of you struggling, (I sure did, for a full half hour honestly) try watching how she holds the yarn with her fingers when she does each stitch. Try to copy it, because the moment I did my circle got significantly better. This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you for making it! It helped me loads!
Thank you so much for this video! This was super clear and slow enough for a complete beginner to figure out. You went into so much detail-I'll be referring back to this until I get it, then referring other people to this! Perfect tutorial, thank you so much.
Thank you June! Very easy to follow your demonstration! I have crocheted for many years and never knew about the magic ring. Invaluable lesson...And I love your name. My favorite Aunt was June. We have about 4-5 girls in our family with the middle name of June in her honor. :)
All the others have different ways, yours was the only one that I "got" it. Now I don't have to avoid projects that have to have the magic circle. Thank you.
I have been struggling to master the simple magic ring! I was taught basic crocheting by my dear Aunt about 40 yrs ago...now trying to make baby things for my grand kids but arthritic fingers don't work well. Your video was easier to see where your hook was going and just how you did it. Thank you from grandma C!
This is so easy to understand for a newbie like me! I'm just starting out crocheting, and all the fancy crochet terms confused me. But watching your videos really helped!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH I FINALLY KNOW HOW TO DO A MAGIC CIRCLE. I HAVE BEEN CROCHETING FOR ABOUT 5 YRS AND THIS IS THE EASIER VIDEO I HAVE SEEN THAT TAUGHT ME HOW TO DO IT. THANK YOU AGAIN. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT NEW PROJECT I'LL BE ABLE TO MAKE NOW. =)
I can't thank you enough for this tutorial. You were clear, and slow, and this was perfect for helping me with my project. I can't wait to watch more of your videos! ^.^ Thank You!!
Thank you so much! This is the best instruction yet for the "magic ring" that I have found on RU-vid. Slow, precise and very easy to follow. I finally understand how to do this without pulling my hair out. ;D xoxo!
finally!!! iv been watching several tutorials and i couldn't quite make it right until i saw your video and now i can make a magic ring easily..thanks a lot!!! :)
This was amazing, thank you so much. I wish I would have found this sooner. I had never even heard of a magic ring and then the step by step pages made no sense. This was a big help you explained it perfectly =)
Thank you for you video! TOP MARKS! You have a very easy to listen to voice, I've tried to follow others, as its something you need to pause and play back until you get it right and with yours I was able to do this.. Thank you, now I need to get my head around following patterns. ( im making a pot)
I watched one other one and the instructions on it were a litle harder. You took your time and the instructions were better. I definitely plan on picking crocheting back up. Glad I found your website. :-)
THANK YOU!!! ive been struggling to do a magic ring for so long!! this was super simple to understand, i was able to slow it down and follow it step by step easily. Got it first try!!

Thank you so much for this video. I have been crocheting for a few years....... but, I always put off the magic ring... it looked so complicated. Oh my.. just watched your video today... it is so blooming simple!!!! I will NEVER chain again for my circles...... Thank you againxx
I've been crocheting for 55 years and this is terrific! Now I can make a magic ring too. Thank you for the really helpful video. Proves you can teach an old dog new tricks if she wants to learn them. :D Now if I could find the really tiny amigurumi animals I saw a while back on facebook.
Thank you so much for the video! It helped me a lot in my many projects! You also made it easy to explain plus the angle of the camera is great! Thanks so much :D
