I have seen WAY too many comments here about giving up crochet because you can’t get this magic circle. PLEASE understand that if you are an absolute beginner, you are not watching the right tutorial. You do not need to know the magic circle in order to learn crochet. Go through my FREE Learn to Crochet Masterclass here on RU-vid if you are new to crochet 👉🏼 ru-vid.com/group/PLmobLoMZ1riTNFsxCena7K93Zsls6F2CF

I just wanted to tell you that i am an extreme beginner and watched SO MANY videos and had to unravel my project countless times. Your video is the only one i found that has made sense and showed good angels so i could actually comprehend what’s going where. Being a full beginner I love that you taught this with only single crochets. Most of the circle videos do three chains and then i was so lost with them doing doubles and trebles like that’s too advanced for me at the moment 😅🤣 thank you for making this so comprehensive! I’ve been watching it on repeat at .5 speed 😂😂

@@marybeckett4777 Hi Mary, I’m not sure if you actually watched this video all the way through but if you haven’t, you should. In the video I explain that the magic circle is a good technique to learn but it is NOT mandatory to crochet in the round. This is why I included two alternative methods. So there’s no reason to give up. Maybe give the magic circle a break and use one of the other two methods I explained

I've never even heard of the magic circle until today. Looks interesting. I've always done the second or the third method, usually the second method. I've actually never had anybody teach me crocheting, I just picked it up one day when I was 14 and fiddled around with some yarn and a crochet hook making doilies because I thought it was fun. I just figuered it out by looking at other peoples finished projects. I decided to look at some videos and pictures today for inspiration, because I haven't crocheted in ages, just to see what ideas people came up with for kerchiefs and stumbled across this. :) This is literally my first "lesson" since I started playing around at 14 and I'm now 47. Thanks for teaching me something new.

Thank you!!! I have spent the last week watching Magic Circle/Magic Ring Videos and was ready to tear my hair out - your method above just clicked for me! I have been crocheting for over 50 years but never doing anything the "correct" way. It used to drive my Mother crazy to watch me crochet - my end results were fine but I never held my hands "correctly", I never drew the thread with my left hand little finger, I always stop and drag a new section of thread from the skein. My technique is so awful that when I asked her to teach me to knit she laughed and said, "You and two needles? Never, let's just stick to Crochet!" She didn't hurt my feelings, we always laughed about all this until we nearly cried because the lessons were always so painful and funny. I lost her almost 30 years ago and I am now 66 years old. I decided to use the miracle of RU-vid to finally learn some real Crochet Techniques before my hands give out. Let me tell you that Magic Circle was causing me to seriously second guess my plan - and then came you. Thank you so much Sigoni!

I ❤️ the magic loop. Once I was able to see where the tail is I had no problem. I think the common problem is not knowing what end to work with. Funny enough I can’t get the chaining and going back into the the first chain to work. I think because I’ve always went through two strands. Great video.

Exactly! This is the fifth tutorial I've watched! I guess no one attempting to teach a stitch has learned its best if the student can see the tail so they can tell which threads to wrap! Omg I use to know! Seems I've forgotten! It also seems we have many teaching that do I have a clue how to teach! Lol they are here to chat! One person I shut off after 8 minutes of meaning less chatter. She still hadn't started! Oh well tomorrow ill go visit my neighbor

I’m just learning how to crochet and one thing that’s helped me know which stitch to go back to is a stitch marker. I bought a bag off Amazon for just a couple bucks and really thought they were an item I’d rarely use and only experienced people used them….boy was I wrong. They’ve been a huge help!! And I’ve only made a few things so far lol but i will put a marker on as the yarn is still on the hook so I know it’s going in the stitch I need, or I’ll put it on as soon as I finish that last stitch of the row. Then when I come back around I don’t have to guess where to slip stitch or something. They are so worth the $3!

I learned when I was young to do a crochet line…never did anymore than that; then my niece asked me to teach her…took 10 minutes. Two days later I sprained my ankle, so I did crochet therapy…have no idea what I did, but I just played with the yarn and needle and taught myself to go to the next row. Then I just said what if I do this or that what will it look like? I have an interesting rectangle with different stitches that I have no idea what they are called! But it was fun! Now I’m ready to learn something like your magic circle ⭕️ “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” : To go astray ( as from a course ) : Thank you for sharing!

That was the absolute best explained demonstration of a magic loop! I'm 69 yrs old and I tried doing crochet about 5 yrs ago. I made a couple easy beanies. Some came out like newborn size. Not sure why. I tend to crochet very tight and then have hard time getting hook thru. I gave up on it but I wanted to do it so bad. Turns out I had a large brain tumor and just had surgery. I was hoping that it would all be so much easier for me but doesn't seem to be. I do think that your video made it very clear and you are a great teacher. I tried magic circle then kept acadently doing the 2nd method from another video to make a dice bag XD this is by far the best titoral video and I'm so glad if found it. First time a good 5 hours for 2 rows from having to keep starting again. I did finish it in the end and I'm happy enough to try again 😁

Thank you! I watched other videos and they were helpful but the way they held the yarn made it so hard. I threw a tantrum too. Picked it back up again and saw your video and I got it!

Wow....i taught myself to crochet granny squares on you tube but i always struggle with the starting circle.. After watching your tutorial, i realised i was leaving out the 6 slipstiches into the circle.. So much better now and easy to follow your step by step guide. 👍🏼

10 -15 minutes every night I’ve been trying to understand how to make a magic circle/loop. I’ve been trying for more than a month (since mid-January 2024). I’ve watched countless RU-vid videos. All I wanted to do was make an amigurumi for my child as a Valentine’s Day gift. I bought a Crochet Box kit (Sadie), watched all the videos at 1/2 speed. I can do straight crochet stitches in my sleep at this point. I have been sewing (and creating my own patterns), embroidering (my own designs), and knitting since I was in elementary & junior high schools. I know how to do rug hooking and counted cross-stitch (but find it boring). Yet trying to master this magic circle has completely eluded me, and I am literally in tears every single time I try to get it right - my yarn ends up being a knotted mess. I am at a complete loss as to how to do this, and feel like a complete failure. Why is this so difficult, and is there any way I can get it right?

I watched about 8 tutorials on the magic loop and most methods were about the same. I would do fine until I got to making the first chain. I couldn’t get the hang of holding the yarn and struggled with getting the yarn through. I watched your video and did several in a row! Thanks!

Hey Beautiful! Self-taught crocheted here. My in-the-round crocheting always came out inconsistent. Decided to look for a tutorial, and found your alternative. Oh. My. Goodness. Should have looked this up a long time ago. What an easy aadjustment! Thank you so much! Now off to find a better way to crochet an oval! Thank you again!!

thank you! I've been struggling so much with this. for me, the hardest part is beginning the first 6 single crochets, I always get it all tangled and confuse myself. but this is the best I've done for sure!
