You bring up some valid points. The reason people are so negative is because of what Hasbro / Wizards has been doing the past 2 to 3 years. The past 4 sets with the exception of Aftermath are good. I am tired of Wizards money grabs, gimmicks, and high prices for products that do not give you much value and have poor card quality. You can blame Wizards for the continued negativity. It's one blunder after another. Our group loves playing Commander at the kitchen table. Thank you for the video Rudy.

Lol well then my lgs hosing the hell outta ppl by charging $45 or more for scars era draft packs and over $1100 for the box…..oh yeah did i ever mention that the lgs Nova Games in my area literally has packs for draft at $6-7 when boxes of the product are sub $120 online and they dont give you a break on price per pack for the box; so you pay $6 or $7 times 36……who in their right mind gonna pay $160+ for a draft box worth $110 at most. They also use tcgplayer to buylist with only 20% for cash and 30% credit, and then sell at scg or card kingdom pricing which is very dubious. They also dont give out ots packs to yugioh ppl and make them buy them alongside paying entry….every time they try to report them nothing happens.

Rudy has navigated this market so well for 20 years, but now the fundamentals are shifting beyond the norm. The addition of set boxes, collector boxes, and constant secret lairs cannot and should not be downplayed. It disrupts what made the whole thing work for the last 20+ years.

Selling boxes here and there has afforded many lifestyle boosts and the ability to purchase a business that we love and enjoy. Staying the course is a catch phrase for multiple aspects of life. Great convo...been watching price movement, as you know, for a long time. Rates of change have decelerated in some areas but increased in others; Commander products are seeing INCREASING rates of change. The question many magic the gathering investors have is: which sets do I invest in? All of the standard sets, if you can, to diversify the risk. But if that isn't an option, then one of the best ways to research the quality of a set is to play it! Do a draft, in paper or on Arena; if it is fun and has interesting strategy and creative gameplay mechanics, it's a good sign the set is good. WOTC has been firing on all cylinders lately in this regard. The sets are pretty fun to play, mostly. Now you may ask, which boxes should I buy? Booster, Set, Collectors? This one is tricky because we just don't have a lot of data on set and collectors boxes. But I will say that boosters are the lowest entry point and the most available to everyone. They are also the only box you can draft from. Price appreciation on a booster box is also more impactful because of the lower price point. Personally, I invest in all types of boxes but I am leaning towards booster boxes more and more.

Many years ago I bought the last 2 "cheap" BFZ boxes in canada online. I hit Ulamog and Temple Garden expedition in one box. The other box I could have literally burned. It was bad. Then they went up in price and I was like ah guess I won't try number 3.
