I'm absolutely not a good MtG player but I'd like to understand Reid's way of thought: why did he often wait until Saito's draw phase to cast his spells?
it's pretty simple if you think about it, the cards in question are kolagan's command and bomat courier. one of the modes of kcommand is to discard a card, so he's casting it in his draw step to make him discard the card he drew for turn. bomat courier is a complex card but the ability of bomat courier allows you to discard your hand to draw cards, so he kills it in his draw step so saito would be down the extra card if he choose to activate the courier
I’m no where near a “good” magic player, but I have a question. Why do both Reid and Tomoharu crack their fetches on upkeep for no additional value? It happens in the early turns of the game around the time that Tomoharu cracks a Scalding Tarn on upkeep
Love the Duke, but the slow play call was a little preemptive wasn't it? There were still 25 minutes left in game 2 with Duke up a game. His play didn't seem that slow to me.
@@NerdBallPodcast modern and legacy are quite different, t1 delver is the nut, given the brainstorm in hand to shuffle away two lands that is a snap keep
Magic the shuffling. Sorry to say but these guys fail at magic. In 5 turns all they have done is ponder and brainstorm. In legacy you should be winning on turn 1 or 2.
@@krishnadhulipati9152 so you're telling me a format with lions eye diamond, lotus petal, ancient tomb and the other fake moxes you cant win in 2 turns?
@@pairot01 If you want an in depth explanation for why WotC could (and should) abolish the reserved list I'd recommend watching videos that Tolarian Community College has released on the subject. The TLDR is that the reserved list is a relic of the past when there was the worry without collectible cards MTG would fail. Now that that isn't an issue AND since alpha printings of cards still retain their value of collectibles (look at Alpha Birds of paradise vs its reprints), the reserved list should be gotten rid of.
Watching the legacy format, makes me sad at what modern has become. Bomat isn't viable in anything other than burn because temur builds are tier 1.5ish. No OP card draw to "get there" I think ill start playing legacy. I LIKE seeing rounded matchups, a turn 4 "oh this game ending cast resolves because there is no alternative counterspell cost? cool! ng!" feels anticlimatic.
Basically he was scheduled to commentate this gp long before the poty race became so close, so the production and him came to this “experiment” in order to let reid both play AND commentate...and i loved every second of it
