I bought return to ravnica block and theros bulk from some co workers about 10 years ago and they threw in this random green box of cards. I open it up and its allll og magic cards, nothing of super value but cards from beta up to invasion. I asked them if they threw this lot in by mistake and they said no have them too! A friend of theirs found them at a garage sale. What a score. I only paid $60 and ended up with quite the hoard. They'd spent a few thousand on booster boxes trying to hunt for the big money cards and didn't want to take the time to sort out the rest. I ended up with some serious scores they'd missed! 🔥 that old collection was still the best part, some early 90s players whole world right there in a box ❤
Right there with you, the humidity is unforgiving and people do not tend to take good care of things always. As a life long Missourian I would have loved to come across a set like this.
9:19 LOL! There's even blood splatters on those Lightning Bolts!... This guy must have run the liveliest of tables in his local LGS FNM sidewalk middle school.
I sorted through a collection that was in storage since the late 90s. After awhile you stop wondering where the dirt and hairs came from and keep it moving.
@@karawapo Exactly. I bought a pack of Renaissance many years back and even have some cards in various languages. IT was an interesting release to try and get the cards to the international market again. But you are correct!
When I was a kid we would go to wizards in Seattle and they had a life size hurloon minotaur. For me that card is the most iconic. That was before hasbro when Wizards of the Coast had stores.
Stop talking about how rough they are, we obviously see that they've been played and well-loved but I would love to find a box like that. There's so many playable cards and I think the crustiness adds to the charm. I would much rather have the played cards than the mint condition
Yeah I found recently a old box full of old cards but in this kinda condition something a father friend gave to me when I was a child because I liked how the cards looked and he was done with them. Some are in awful condition some better than others, thankfully some decent Kobolds and Dark Rituals then a single Mana Crypt and no I don't think it's a version that's super expensive. Etc etc no black lotus or anything insane but was fun to look through. Sadly a lot of them are stuck together so shame to not see what is exactly in those piles. Wish I could go back in time tell my kid self to put them safe in his room not leave them in rundown garage.
I knew a guy in the mid 90s that had kept his cards in a card box or 2 in his trunk, right beside a leaking bottle of windshield washer fluid. He had been playing since beta, so i shudder at what was lost.
@@marcellachine5718 south Dakota, 2005, northeastern SD. Lost everything four feet of water in my basement, cards were in totes, still was over the top, all of it was mush. Out in the landfill now lol
Man alive it’s so amazing to think how many boxes like this are out there in the wild. I’d love to find something crazy like that and put it on RU-vid!!
RUDY MY MAN!!! I’ve barely played MTG, but your videos entertain me. I do house clean outs for a living, I found a box just like this and it’s been in my attic for 2 years, it has all sorts of cards including foreign cards and even some cards that look like some sort of joke cards, would you be interested in something like that?
Hope you washed your hands after this session! Very nice trip down memory lane with some iconic cards. Also mainly geared for playing i'd say. Too bad they'll go into the vault, not into sleeves 😞
One day, especially after that 2030 date, all those ordinary cards will worth much more than people think. Collect them! amass them! you won't regret it.
First card: bone flute. No giggidy, no innuendo, nothing. Couple of cards later: playset of twiddles. You know you could have twiddled your bone flute all day with that, right? But again: nothing. What channel am I watching here?
This is exactly how an old box of MTG cards looks like when the player sold his best cards when quitting in the late 90s. Except the damage lol. Surprised a Library of Alexandria was still there.
No Rudy don't you shame us for the quality Of our cardboard. Back in the mid to late 90's my cards were in a similar box. I Played my cards Rudy sleeves didn't exist we didn't know what the future would be.
Beta sinkhole is probably the best pull except for those demonic tutors I mean they’re just demonic tutors 😂 I’ll give four Timmy’s for those two black cards you’ll never use but only if you throw in those sinkholes 😂😂😂
ahhhh cmonnn....nothinggg crazyyy - alright alright lightning bolt thats pretty cool ahhhhhh nothing that really stands out alright OK serra ANGEL alright alright ok! ahhhh no crazy stuff i mean OK OK karakas baby lets GO!
Oh! Oh.. Oh. Uh, oh. Must be a player's collection when the cards are in that condition. Nobody back then used sleeves because they just weren't a thing. Financially beats the crap out of cards but they are history.
man rudy how can you touch all this dirty old cards without cloves.. i bet you got your heavy virus infection of this box. That poor employe of yours who have to clean and put all cards one by one on sale ^^
About a few months ago i bought some stuff off of some junky that I literally refused to touch the boxes once I got them home. They looked like these but 200 times worse. Looked like every inch of the outside box had been touched by meth smoke. Still sticky too while looking dry
