Filmed in August 2023.
One of the most beautiful villages in France, Montsoreau never fails to impress visitors: from a scenic location by the Loire river, the silhouette of its château, built in the 15th century, to its most popular event, "les Puces de Montsoreau" (a monthly flee market) Montsoreau is a mandatory stop between Saumur and Tours.
Follow Véro on a tour of the village and let Montsoreau (and the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site) charm you.
Merci to l'Amarante for a delightful cruise along the Loire river!

The love for all that is French is evident in Vero’s detailed description of the history, geography, and culture of the places she visits. What a delight it would be to take a guided tour with her. Merci! I especially loved the river scenes with the relaxing music. I would imagine someone like Monet painting a river scene on the banks of the Loire!

You are very kind Michael. Maybe one day... Reach out if you ever find yourself in the Loire Valley where I run private tours in my city.

Vero-loved the tour. Always enjoy seeing a different village and its activities on a lovely Sunday morning. THANK YOU for climbing so many steps in the village and in the chateaus to give us the bird's eye view! It is appreciated. Also, personally love flea markets and the history you can hold in your hands as well as purchase. I agree that it is so much more satisfying to be in a chateau where there is signage to describe what you are looking at and its age and/or significance. Also LOVED the boat ride as a river perspective of the towns is so different than the walk beside it. Also LOVED that wooden boat! Thanks so much for starting my day off with France with Vero!!!!

Thank you so much for the tour, Vero! You work so hard to share the beauty of France. Merci! And wow - I love brocantes and vide greniers. I find the most amazing things for my little stone house in Bretagne. ❤

Wonderful guided visit, Véro! I often went to the Sunday market when I lived in Tours and had friends who lived in a troglodyte 'mansion' in Saumur and others in a nearby manoir. Only once did I visit the chateau and, at that time, we snickered through a very badly produced video history of the chateau. Candes St Martin is one of my favorite places to take visitors. You are brilliant at what you do!

Ha. Wish I'd seen that old video in the château at least! Candes St Martin is on my "virtual tour list" this year. :-) Thank you, like always, for your support.

What do you say to somebody going on a staycation? "Non voyage!" You're welcome. Been visiting the Loire valley twice a year for a few years now, staying in Chinon. Found some great stuff at the Montsoreau brocante in September 2023. Guess we just missed you. Thanks for the memories--and for the new ideas!

The town is so beatiful! That limestone makes such stunning buildings. The chateau reminds me a bit of Villandry and Azay le Rideau, must be from the same period! And this video is gorgeous!
@francewithvero
@francewithvero 11 месяцев назад
The Château in its current form was originally built before Azay or Villandry in the 15th century (Villandry especially was one of the last Renaissance châteaux to be built in the Loire Valley.) It must be the use of the "tuffeau" stone that gives them a similar appearance.

20:32 Many thanks Vero for the wonderful tour of château Montsoreau. I passed the castle on my cycle tour but didn’t have time to go inside😅Now watching your video I could see the magnificent views from the castle tower, what a visual treat! And really enjoyed seeing the back of the village and getting some ideas on how the caves were an integral part of French culinary culture. I cycled from the Abbey Royal of Fontevraud over the hills and vineyards down to Château Montsoreau so I saw the dwellings etched out of the tufa stone.

Thx for the exploration of Montsoreau. Over the years I’ve enjoyed en ligne exploring the towns along the Loire yet hope to visit soon. Yeah, there’s a classic book too. I liked the soothing boat ride but especially your interesting narration. Wonderful being a Patreon subscriber. I wonder if the various pucés specialize? Hmm, how might I enjoy staying there a few months while studying French?
@francewithvero
@francewithvero 11 месяцев назад
Bonjour. You would definitely enjoy staying in Montsoreau but I'd recommend to have a car so you can explore the Anjou and Touraine around the village. So much to see there! The famed Abbaye de Fontevraud (The Plantagenêt dynasty necropolis) is nearby for example. -- As for the merchants at "les Puces de Montsoreau" some specialize and some don't. It's one of the most renowned brocantes in the area, certainly. Thank you for your support on Patreon!

Was that an owl singing during the day? Or maybe a whippoorwill? I'm glad the mic was able to capture it for us.

Thank you for another wonderful visit - Montsoreau looks a delight, Is the river unusually low? It looked as though the banks were much deeper. Encore merci!

The Loire is lower than it should be and it has been for the last couple of summers.

I enjoyed this video but I prefer the ones you do without the music and and the polish…there is something unique about your style and the delivery that does not need this finesse…I guess I am old school but there is so many of the crafted videos on utube…however a new visiter may be more appreciative.

Thank you for the feedback Melva. On the bright side, my signature "walking tours" are still around, and you will get treated to one with the other France with Vero patrons later this weekend in lovely Langeais :-) I think it's nice to have a mix on this channel for those who enjoy the more "polished" (and shorter) video format. Thank you for your support and see you in Langeais in a few hours!
