Thanks a lot man. I had a hard time adapting to this game since I haven't played anything like it, this really helped me out a lot and I probably won't rage as much when I play it! :P
Great video. One trick I've figured out that I was surprised you didn't touch on was that when you've got your invincible bubble shield you create shield + element walls outside of it when you just do the direction arc or weapon cast versions. So while inside your bubble you can stand next to the wall and conjure your QRERAS walls outside to attack enemies.
@ProxyGoldMine I think I said it in the video, the first play through use the ice ball (ice, ice, ice, ice, earth) wait for him to pop up out of the ground and start charging the spell. Soon as he bends over (this is the only time you can hit him with any normal spell) release the ice ball it does like 10k damage and will kill him in only 2 hits. On the second play through you will have the thunderbolt spell, just spam that like 4 times and he is dead it can hit him even when he is upright.
@Anohail oops miss-read thought you asked "do I use them" didnt see "how do you use them" as yedrellow said just use the middle mouse button (when you have no elements queued) there is a cooldown also with each staff so you cant spam the instant ability.
I remember when I first started playing this and I discovered that pushing d+d+d+d+e gave you a pretty much invulnerable shield that was impenetrable to anything but fire. It makes you invincible to some extent, it really made the game easier.
Good tips. I knew most of them but your shield insta full power trick was neat. I've added that to my repertoire. This is one awesome game. Very tough because you have to memorize a lot (handy to have a chart to side of monitor with all key combos listed out :). In moments of frantic attacks, panic kicks in and you forget all combos :) Take a sec, calm down, read the Teleport and Haste spells and run away.
@1234danielknight default is the middle mouse button, I do believe in the recent patches they give you the ability to rebind that key to something new just incase you do not have a middle mouse button.
@murukamag I guess I should say order does not matter as long as the final elements result is the same, but that is kind of common sense because its a different spell if you have elements cancel, not a different order.
Loved the guide. When i started playing some days ago i quickly got fond of spamming RQ right mouse button which however proved less good when in company of friends due to the coneeffect :p Now i stick to steambeam (SFQFQAA) and DRQx4 (the one you showed in your video which btw works great as aoe CC) About the steambeam (SFQFQAA or arcane+steam+steam+lightning+lightning if anyone is uncertain), it works wonders as AoE aswell, somewhere above 2800 damage on every single target around you.
A better version of the ice mines is called the ARSE Mines. thats the letters to press and also a funny name to go along with it. essentially the same thing but with lightning
My personal favorite variation of the "steam beam" is: Steam+Steam+Arcane+Lightning+Fire Does good damage, lasts a long while, and leaves enemies that you didn't finish off with a powerful DoT from the fire element.
Some of these are certainly great combos. I've only played the game for a few hours, but found a couple of these myself while playing with a friend. My personal favorite, which requires little effort, is just spamming Q and R as fast as I humanly can and right clicking around 3 times per second. It should mainly scatter out bursts of ice spikes 3 times per second, but some times I'll add a water too much or a frost too much, which will make the enemies either wet or slowed/frozen. +A lot of dmg
@lennierv Thanks, this video is quite old now though and they have patched and changed many of the spells so not all of these are going to be as effective as they once were.
One of the most helpful things I found was to have Ed and whatever element you desire for a shield with a resistance aura. For example I cast QED on myself after rain, I don't get wet, and the shield doesn't have to be recharged allowing me to use lightning. (The more of one element you put in the greater aoe of resistance).
Very informational! Good for beginners! My personal favourite I like to call winter solstace. Amazing aoe. You want qdddd. Aoe that. it will inflict rain and knock all opponents down where they are instead of flinging them miles. Next step is rrrrr as many times as you want. aoe that, that will freeze the knocked down mobs. Then you want quickly cast aqrqrqrqr. and aoe that. Which will deal MASSIVE damage too all the mobs.
9:22 Funny how you happen to talk about "the Dragon Ball" immediately after dealing over ninethousand damage...sneaky DBZ reference maybe? :D Great tutorial by the way!
Order of the elements don't matter, but the order in which u pick them sometimes does. For instance, if u pree QEASF it's actually possible to get water and lightning in the same spell(the game only checks the last-placed element for conflicts). I've been using this since the nerf of steam beam.
you can also yous QERRAS as a sheild itself, and it lets you survive one cast of it pretty relaibly and its also just a damn good sheild, call it the Super Shield
Self casting 4 earth and 1 shield element, gives you a ton of extra health, and you can even replace an earth with another element to get a little bit less health, but a resistance with it
I find that Fire/Lightning is best for the bomb throwers. They usually have goblin meatshields, so the fire/lightning can take out an entire group at once by traveling from meatshield to bomber to bomber.
You can also use fire/cold with earth, put it on your weapon, and hit outside the shield. Not sure if it was like this in the version you're playing though.
I recently discovered QFQFAAA which I found was really great for annihilating crowds of small enemies, and larger enemies providing you have rock armour EDDDD + Mousewheel) activated, which practically makes you impervious to physical attack for a while. Using those two spells I killed Khan in about four seconds.
On the way to Fafnir, there are something like lava lizards. If you use 'ice ball (q+r+q+r+q+r+q+r+d)' at full charge on them, it'll deal like 100.000 dmg. Tip: If you want to use ice ball quickly, then press 'd' once, then spam q and r. There will be still 4 ice and 1 stone
Not sure you mentioned this but, when powering up a aoe shield around yourself, it can also be canceled out by yourself having an aoe shield around you and an shield on yourself, when they both get into contact (if i remember correctly) one cancels out the other its not so beneficial when you build up your shield but say in duels if someone does it, you can just run into his bubble with a shield of your own and it will dissapear x)
Yea, they've increased the blast of the explosion, this used to be my go-to spell when cornered. It's still useful though, one interesting thing to note is that this is one of the few spells that can can hit a uncorporealized daemon.
Thanks for this, very useful. One question about my fave, QERRAS... how do you apply it without getting damage yourself, like you do in this vid? If I cast it other than through imbue, I practically blow myself up each time?
Old video but here are some tips I've learned. You can self cast while otherwise incapacitated. Frozen? Self-cast fire. Falling? Standard shield will take the blow. (Or rock armor if you're quick enough) Can't be healed due to having armor? standard shield will override your current, cast it again and bam no shield and ready to be healed. When you need resistance add at least one element of ice or stone to make the shield have "health" rather than just a timer. (Semi spoiler for around chapter 5-6) The Phoenix magick isn't just an AoE, it'll revive your friends or yourself if you die at the right second. And at full health! Don't have teleport? (You shouldn't do this but you can) go back into chapter one and look up over the lake, that's teleport up there, use some mines (shield + more arcane =more knockback) and a quick standard shield to absorb the blow and kablammo you're a cheater. But also you got teleport. Need to shield from both water AND lightning? steam and lightning work fine, (add the lightning last) add a cold to remove the fire from the water and you wind up with water/lightning Rogue can be semi-invulnerable. Hold block (ctrl) and while invisible you can queue up 1 spell. Use the smoke bomb and teleport backwards, during the teleport it'll cast and you can stay invisible.
I have a good armor spell (only downside is you can't heal when it is on...) It is Ice Earth Shield. The earth element gives you defence against everything (except fire and poison) and lasts until it is broken, the ice element adds the effect of hurting enemies when they charge you or you run into them when haste is in affect, and the shield element is to make it into a defence spell and thus not hurting you when cast on yourself...
An altered version of your 5 element sword attack I always spam for everything is qrqrase. It's totally spammable and quick once you get the motions down. It instagibs players, so you can't cast it as an AOE, but it has the bonus of having a large explosive finish, rather than fizzling away like yours. It might not be the best spell in the game, but I think it comes pretty darn close.
I found one that is very similar to 11:20 but it is a little more defense oriented as the rocks will stay in place. Press E S D Q R Q R (shield, arcane, rock, ice ice). Never cast this as a semi circle unless you are shielded. The rocks are actually so big that even while not moving, you will be hit by cold damage. Curiously you can cast a full circle and it won't hurt you. I would recommend sticking with sword though. It kills most enemies instantly while giving you a barrier to work with
