Look for the magenta dotted line and in that line should be a number with a west or east variant if east (regardless of what direction you’re flying) you’ll subtract and vice versa if it’s west but add if west

Hi Kevin, thanks for your question! Deviation is affected by magnetic fields in the aircraft, caused by electrical current flowing through wires and in instrumentation. While the deviation could be different due to wiring harnesses being in slightly different locations or different instrument placement in the cockpit, the important thing to know is that the compass deviation card is always required and you should follow the information on that card while navigating using the magnetic compass!

Hi Jim. 10 degrees in this example is just referring to the difference of True North and Magnetic North so 10 degrees would stay the same for the entire distance. If someone is travelling from East to West or vice versa, the variation would either decrease or increase depending on which direction they are heading
