I used this under some blackboard paint to make a message center on the inside of my front door. I could use the magnets to hang notes or bills that needed attention, and use chalk to right messages to other family members. I used construction Adhesive, to put up wood strips to frame it. One of my best ideas.

I have a map hanging up on the wall that had a different approach to be magnetically hung. The rare earth magnets attatched to the wall with anchors, and frame backer is made of metal. It made it really easy to hang and adjust, and I'd trust it through an earthquake honestly.

Really cool product. Years ago there was a home manufacturer that made steel houses that had metal interior walls so could put magnets anywhere. I'd love a steel house! It didn't really catch on though.
@fr3dfixit945
@fr3dfixit945 Год назад
I'm a huge fan of magnets--physics be damned, they're magical! A steel house would be lightning-proof, but also cell-service blocking. I once had an idea of repurposing a water tower into a house. They might be wind-proof (they seem to always remain standing after bad storms), but would have the same cell signal problem. On the other hand, the view would be spectacular.
@karen4you
@karen4you Год назад
@@fr3dfixit945 Still might be a way to make a signal booster to get reception inside? Or by a window? I like your idea. It could be next to a small house and be a storm shelter and massive bedroom?

I did half a wall with this then blackboard paint on my kid's wall, and that was great. Except there was so many more layers than normal that you can see the difference with the naked eye, its crazy. But still it works good for my kid's wall at least. I'll also note that it was very difficult to get it to lay totally flat and even. There were a lot of small dips and rises. Nothing too big, but noticeable vs. regular paints/primers.

Be very very careful with small magnets around children. They have been known to swallow them with disastrous results. The magnets hold the bowels together with disastrous, necrotic results and even the surgery required is made very difficult and tedious.

Very clever. I recently bought some magnetite, Fe3O4 powder for making ferrofluid for my students. Never thought about how to use these powder in other applications. Definitely will show this to my physics students. Thank you. But I guess it may pose a long term issue for cleaning when used in household. When a magnet broken/shattered into small pieces that inevitably happens, it will be quite difficult to remove especially neodymium magnets are very brittle and the broken pieces are sharp. The top coat paint must be somewhat needed to glossy and super smooth.

❤ Again a great video. You are a gifted teacher. I built a hanging storage board and treated with magnetic and chalkboard paint two years ago. It is true that such paint is better for lighter things. For a large poster, you need multiple magnets, for example. Otherwise, if there is a cross breeze, the things will fly off, even with the special magnets. The 🧲 magnetic paint can interfere with wifi signals. This is important to know in case your have poor wifi reception. In that case, making a smaller project or limiting the area you paint would be better than painting a whole wall with magnetic paint. Thanks for this video.

I'm considering painting an interior chamber of my house with heat-reflective paint, so that, if the heat ever goes out, I'll have a place to go and hopefully keep warm.
