1:07 Love how Magneto looks strained here for throwing a few metal parts at Apocalypse while he was totally relaxed when he was ripping the whole f*cking planet apart just a few moments earlier.
@@ResoundGuyNah, Charles confirms that Apocalypse only helped Erik understand his anger and power better, he didn’t really enhance him like the other Horsemen
Yup agreed this scene, Quicksilver saving the school scene, Magneto using earth's magnetic field scene, Xavier exposing how Apocalypse was preying on the weaknesses of the four horsemen scene, Moira hyping up Apocalypse with her history lesson of him being the god behind religions, & Apocalypse disarming all the nations of their nuclear weapons. Those were all great parts about this flawed entry no doubt had the bones to be a much better film.
"So, we've got Apocalypse, who has a huge array of powers and (we've repeatedly assured the audience) is a supremely experienced and cunning warrior, vs Magneto, who is one of the franchise's most awesome mutants because his power is both immense and versatile, and he's got the intelligence to take full advantage of that. How shall we have their epic, world-changing confrontation play out?" "Have them hold poses for minutes on end while Magneto demonstrates power levels lower than he had BEFORE Apocalypse made him stronger?" "Genius! The long-term fans will love it!"
No kidding. This issomething I would've seen as an opening salvo before Apocolypse powers through, and he starts chucking Buildings, or pulling satilites from orbit... or an actual f'ing METEOR. Given Magneto's heritage, and Apocolypse trying to portray himself as God. Him quoting scripture would be appropriate here. 'Worship not False Idols. Hold No God above that of your God The Lord Almighty.' 'I was there when it was written!' 'You were who it was written in warning of.'
I love the way beast tried to jump onto apocalypse while hes in the middke of a fireball woth cyclops shooting his death beam, magneto slinging metal beam, and apocalypse doing his thing... like he was about to change the tide of battle or something.
It worked on Magneto in Last Stand when Logan had him distracted. Cool to see it from Beast's perspective this time as he tries to sneak through, even though it was for naught.
Ok, I see this argument - it's a mental thing. Raising one heavy object is brute strength, while feeling, manipulating and slinging 6000-7000 metallic objects is a precision feature. What's easier to lift with bare hands, a single weight of 30 kilograms, or 500 tennis balls weighing total of 28 kilos ?
Apocalypse didn't boost his powers he only made it clear to Magneto that his powers can do more than he thought and all that pain and rage from his family being murdered is what boosted him amongst things from his past
this scene is an excellent demonstration of how your setup is critical before a payoff. magneto has multiple movies of setup showing how awesome, deep and interesting he is so when he decides to make a stand the audience feels it in their soul, but when younger jean who has barely any setup, little to no depth and very few badass moments that stand wholly on there own attempts to steal the show it completely falls flat.
It may not have been him that finally took Apocalypse down, but Magneto was the most bad ass. “No, I betrayed them!” Practically the whole theatre I was in cheered and applauded.
I love how there’s 2 planes of existence in which the battle takes place. Seeing Jean and Apocalypse approaching each other is like the 2 planes coinciding and becoming just 1.
In the comics, Apocalypse brain waves were revealed to be electromagnetic. Well within Magneto's range for manipulation. It is how Magneto defeated him, literally made Apocalypse's brain explode.
I know jean pretty much annihilated apocalypse when she "unleashed"....but God, I LOVE how BAD ass Magneto was with this move! Kind of like giving him the middle finger!
I just found out that Oscar Isaac plays apocalypse in this movie. He's one of my favorite actors and he is basically unrecognizable in this movie. Shoutout to the make up team!
Love this scene, so many aspects about it move me: the working together, the Jean fearing her own inner strength but deciding to harness it anyhow, the confidence Prof Xavier has for Jean and the good in her. It's a great scene.
@@RootGroves-hl8kt Apocalypse isn’t confirmed to be omega level. He’s mainly powerful because of his celestial and magic enchantments. Not because of his mutant abilities
I love how it's implied Jean represents the raw evolutionary force itself that created the mutants. For all his powers and experience, Apocalypse never anticipated it, perhaps because he came from a time when the concept hadn't been explored. When finally faced with it, all he could do was be in awe and accept his fate.
it’s fine but it had way more potential to be an amazing fight. you have magneto, storm, professor x, jean grey, cyclops fighting apocalypse yet the “fight” is just apocalypse standing still while everyone keeps attacking him
@@unbiasedramsfanAPOCALYPSE IS OPPP , you’re confusing, yall say they nurfed apocalypse and he diddnt feel powerful then you get confused why he isnt fazed vs all the mutants . Can never be happy
I think this movie will be totally redeemed one day. People have way too many f****** expectations for this movie and its villain, especially after the Perfection that was X-Men Days of Future Past
Tbf the armor looks dope, but the problem was trying to make him look more human for the facial expressions when in fact it had look as less human as possible. If it would’ve looked more like Darkseid this movie would’ve considerably improved
Magneto redemption arc has to be the best Sony/Marvel redemption scene ever made. Imagine your only power is that used to stick photos, wedding invitations, party announcements and grocery list on your refrigerator door. But you up it to the Nth power!! Professor X - "Unless your power... no fear"
IF this Apocalypse were made of CGI like the Snyder´s Cut Dark Seid as the original Apocalypse is huge, it´d be a more acceptable portrait of the character . It wouldn´t save the movie but we´d buy the villain.
It’s possible that Darkseid is played by somebody in one of those suits that generate the digital CGI model on a computer for the film. They did that for the Rise of the Planet of the Apes trilogy, the apes are played by people. This was also done for Golem in the Lord of the Rings, who is both played and voiced by somebody, too. As a side note, Golem was originally gonna be pure CGI and voice acted, but he was voiced by a good who did these incredible facial expressions while doing the voice, so they gave him a more… physical role
Well we did buy the villain because the performance was on point, but the size could have been bigger. I do agree on that, with that being said it was still a great movie 🔥.
5 minutes earlier > Magneto was causing a world-wide apocalypse by manipulating the entire earths magnetic field and throwing around billions of tons worth of material. Here > Magneto throws some nearby trash at Apocalypse.
Imagine multiple Omega level mutants, and the Phoenix force itself clutching on you like that. It's kinda sad that this movie had limitless potential but just couldn't deliver.
I wasn't a big fan of the movie, but I like that they didn't try to make it a more even and entertaining fight with Apocalypse and Jean using the Phoenix Force. They properly made it nothing at all for her to dismiss the most powerful mutant not aided by a cosmic force. Typically a studio would go for a back and firth at the end, with the hero barely winning. I like that they just had Jean enter the fight and that's that.
If it was MCU thanos, he would have lost. Comic thanos different story but even still comic magneto is capable of defeating comic thanos I would say thanos would win majority of the time there tho.
