The crazy thing about this is if you put this sequence into an analysis board, the evaluation drastically changes depending on whether you’re playing it forwards or backwards. If you play it forwards from move 1, White is winning after Qa3. However, if you play it backwards from the queen getting trapped, White is winning as early as Qd4.

The queen's gambit is not really a gambit. Gambit is when taking is possible. Dxc4 is not a move, almost ever, unless the other side has a trick. The king's gambit or vienna gambit are really giving up material for positional advantage.

Everyone says this about gambits as though it makes the line completely bad. It’s one line to play when your opponent accepts. You know what you do if they decline the gambit? Keep developing like normal. That’s the mark of a gambit; you don’t auto lose if they decline
@9181shreyasbhatt
@9181shreyasbhatt 2 месяца назад
Black falls in the trap after playing Qd4. after that if black play differently than black loses differently. Ofcourse black can decide not to play Qd4 and not fall in the trap, and it will be called gambit declined.

mistake is the Queen d4 move, with correct play white keeps the advantage after this mistake from black, but if black does not play this Qd4 than with correct play black keeps the advantage. But then Qd4 move is very tempting specially if facing first time.

@@NamVu-im2xmRooks are almost non factors early in the game. A knight that was already out might be even more dangerous than a rook early in the game. If I had to guess, an engine would not say black is even (9 points with knight,rook,pawn) but probably -5 or more because of how early and developed white already is. For a GM level that is already resigns. Of course Magnus knew this and that's why he played it.

A bishop , a queen and a rook can be taken for the queen .
@hp7639
@hp7639 Месяц назад
This is true. but in the opening rooks are almost non factors and taking a queen early is a huge advantage and almost any GM that takes the queen has won. I'm interested to know what the engine evaluates it after what you said.
@hp7639
@hp7639 Месяц назад
Actually I looked at it again and you are wrong. The queen protects the rook after the knight locks the queen in. I get the feeling that it might have been a bigger advantage for black if he got the 3 pieces for the queen even if it was early in the game (not the case here). Because I forgot about black also taking a central pawn. That 12 points for a 9 point queen with whites queen probably not able to do any damage other than probably just wining that central pawn back. If I had to guess an engine would say black has a +2-+3 advantage if you were right.
