Magnus Carlsen Vs. Kasparov

Magnus Carlsen was only 13 years old here.
Prince of Chess directed and produced by Øyvind Von Doren Asbjørnsen. See the whole film here: www.princeofchess.com. This was at the Reykjavic Rapid 2004 tournament where some of the world's best players competed.
A rapid game between the past and future world champion? 2 of the worlds greatest players indeed. I wonder what would happen if they were to play now.
Interesting that sometime after this, Kasparov started coaching Carlsen for a while.

Obviously Kasparov had an immense pressure not to lose to a 13yo and #700 in the world. BUT... damn did Magnus as a kid made him shit bricks during the whole game. The amount of confidence at 13 years of age from Magnus is outstanding. 3:13 I think Kasparov did that move on purpose since Magnus wasn't looking at the board at the time. Little did it work when the kid came back running to make his move knowing exactly what he had moved and making Kasparov even MORE nervous. Kasparov was terrified of 13yo Magnus!
@itachiuchiha4972

maybe he was terrified but in the end he drew the game and won the second game (where it was up to him to use the whites). Bro, they were playing the opening. Of course Magnus immeidately knew what to play, if he didn't, then he wouldn't even be an IM. It's amazing to think that today Carlson is arguably considered to be greater than Kasparov even though Carlsen is 10 years younger today than when Kasparov retired in 2005. Its rare people dont consider that thing you said. Its obvious and its clearly easier to play when you have nothing to lose. Imagine being a world for example, a 5 times world champion and you have to compete with someone with that potential. The one who debuts is always like ok i will try, but the champion like, man i cant lose i cant i cant, people trust me. when lotta people supports you it becomes harder to calm down cause you dont want to dissapoint them. For example now magnus vs alireza..alireza nothin to lose, but magnus has the need to demostrate hes still the #1.. pressure is different on both of em

At 3:13 an hilarious signature move was in the making And Kasparov shaking his head in shock is one of the most epic moments in any chess game I've ever seen

Or he was shaking his head to clear the cobwebs … from doing shots and partying with hookers until 3am the night before and regretting it. That’s my interpretation.

I think it shocked Kasparov that he is just stood up and left he was like what the hell.

Let's be honest, the pressure Kasparov has had his entire life is insanely unhealthy. No-one should be subjected to the expectation to win every time he plays.

Magnus has that same pressure right now. Every world champion is expected to win every single game they play. When magnus lost his first classical game in over 400 days people talked about it for weeks. I don't understand the point you are making
