@@ChessManiac99If you look at the win rate at the beginning His opponent had more wins against mangnus than magnus had on him. "Destroyed" is a incorrect term in this situation
Vasquez Schroeder’s rating for blitz and rapid is 2582. In this game Carlson outplays him so effortlessly that ‘destroys’ seems reasonable. He is a whole piece up!
@@franciscoespejo767 H7 then h6 when the knight. Checks is available a perpetual I think.but yeah I didn't notice that. Hard for me to see if he would lose with the king in that awkward spot.
If he takes the bishop, it's checkmate in 3. Q forks rook and king, king hides but knight moves into check and queen mates. Only way to stop would be sacrificing queen for knight.
People are missing many things with this video. Carlsen is 3160 in blitz as opposed to his opponent's 2924. Secondly, before this game, Kastor (his opponent) was leading the match by 5 to 4.5, it was a tough match and not an easy win for Carlsen. A better title would have been "Carlsen edges ahead with the Catalan against a strong GM in blitz"
wasn't this titled Tuesday? Its' not like they were playing a 20 game match against each other. That's why Carlsen says, "we are being matched up again'
Lol and you missed the fact that his opponent was not leading in a match at all as this number simply points to the points they accumulated in titled Tuesday so yeah the better title is the current one with ’’destroys’’
It is true and ridiculous that 2900 players are so easy for Magnus to beat. Of course a 2900 FIDE rated tournament player does not exist in human form. Such a player would not be easy for Magnus, who is rated in mid 2800s. But he’s about 3300 in blitz online.
@@ronbirnbaum1968 His official rating was not, but that is because he didn't play much, he didn't play at tournaments or he played played some of them, and in all he played 700+ games in his professional career at chess. That is the reason he wasn't rated as his real strength was, and that is 2950. I read somewhere that at some tough tournament he crushed everyone and that his playing strength was around that. He was just bad, he didn't win against others, he crushed them. Many of them stopped playing after him, like Larsen.
@@Lamcuyp572L I am talking about that Fischer would crush Carlsen if he played today. Fischer was by far the most talented player ever. Carlsen is the best player of his generation, no question about it. But he was lucky because he didn't really have a real challenger throughout his career, the one who would question his concept and understanding of chess. Like Capablanca had Alekhine, Botvinnik had Bronstein and Tal, Karpov had Kasparov, you don't have a player of that calibre along with Carlsen, whose concept of chess is pretty shallow and positivistic. No real creativity in his play. Chess used to be much better in the days of open analysis. In 21.century, chess is totally computerized game, even Carlsen himself admitted that he watched AlphaZero play and picked up some new ideas. So what is the point of chess today? Learning moves from computer? There is no more space for creativity in modern chess. It's all either computer moves or theory. I just don't understand who finances chess and for what cause? Why does someone pay top GMs to play chess? For what?
6:09 if rook takes black's bishop, then knight takes rook and there's a fork with knight D7 which takes back the rook. So why he didn't take that "free" bishop ?
correct but you forgot a detail. When the knight takes back the bishop the night defends the rook so after you fork and take the rook the knight recaptures. Basically you traded down pieces without winning material.
@@ChessManiac99 🤦♂️ the catalan is vs the queens Gambit setup If u play the catalan Vs The Slav Or the Kings indian u cant call it the Catalan Those Are completely different Things
@@mrpizza6503 yeah you can call it the fiancetto against the kid for example but it is still the catalan setup. Also it can be called the catalan when played against the slav
Around 1:30 i guess? You dont want to give up your fianchetto bishop for a pawn you probably cannot hold in the long term, as there are maybe 1.... Bxd4 2.Rd1 c5 3. Nc5 ideas to get the pawn back, leaving you with weak dark squares around your king, also the catalan bishop becomes active as its no longer staring at the b7-c6 pawns if you were to play c5 as black
