Belatedly, I found this video in 2024, 10 years after this video was originally uploaded. Thank you so much. What a gentle and sweet sounds created in the 6th movement.
A faultless upload with no cue 'blips'. The sound is forward, and the internal balance of the orchestra is very good. Two things to point out - the post horn is near enough to hear it and not miles away and second, Mr. Harding does not have an ego larger than the music, so he doesn't make the audience wait until they are allowed to applaud. Many thanks for this gem.
The heaven opens and for a short glimpse, we can enjoy a bit of the glory of the Lord. A wonderful performance conducted by one of the best young conductors, Daniel Harding. Thank you for uploading this piece to RU-vid.

Terrific performance - very well recorded. I think it adds a lot to really bring out the snare drum part in the first movement, just as they did here.. It's as though the snare drum has a part that's contrapuntal to everybody else. Mahler might have really liked Charles Ives.
I prefer Dudamel's performance with the LA Philharmonic, taken from a live concert broadcast. Harding is very very good, however. Great that we have esteemed Mahlerians in a new generation!
