Here in northern Canada we use ulus for all kinds of butchery and fleshing furs. The old ones are made from ground slate usually, but a knapped ulu is brilliant. Great work as always.

You could probably get slate or grinding slate while sitting on a big rock with your feet in a creek working with the creek water is great way to spend a hot summer afternoon. Probably blue flagstone at your nearby masonry suppliers? If you don't have slate locally sourced of course. Absolutely the Perfect tool for cutting paleolitic pizza! Cheers!

I once read that ulus were also made from shale. It was years ago so I don't have a reference.

I think the ulu type blade would've been an ideal tool for butchering large game. Curious if you might give it a try with the clovis, bison hunt videos you've been working on, which I really appreciate.

theres a better way to haft flake-knives. google tatar aydar, he's got it figured out. its a mechanical rather than with adhesives method (better in my opinion)
