That hair pin is clearly a reference to Hisuian Zoroark/Zorua not Arcanine. Mai is a Normal type trainer.

Arezu's design for some reason reminds me of Kumatora. Energetic and cute but also pretty independent.

After letting some time pass, I can’t help but notice the similarities between Arezu and Ariana/Silver. This leads me believe that Arezu could have multiple descendants.
