This is my mail art junk journal. I love making a journal and having it chalk-full of neat things to look at. Here I took envelopes -- some addressed directly to me and some junk mail, along with postcards and notes I've received in the last 6 months and assembled it into 2 signatures. The cover is a large manila envelope painted, stamped, and decoupaged.

If you want to get all the stamps off of the paper, just throw them in a bucket of cool water for 30 minutes. They'll come right off. Dry them off, put them between two pieces of wax paper and put a book on them. Let em sit for a few days. Your stamp art is very cool. I've been collecting since I was a kid.

What a lovely take on a junk journal. The stamps are beautiful and add so much colour. Sadly we seem to get little mail with actual stamps on them these days. I'm just starting out on the junk journal journey and this has given me some great ideas. Thanks.

Thanks :-) Glad you like it. You're right. There are fewer letters with actual postage on it, that's why it's great to add on to the covers with your own stash.

You can soak stamps off paper easily by immersion in room temp water.

To remove stamps from their paper backing, you soak them for a few minutes in warm water. Then remove them and turn upside down on a paper towel to dry. Have you seen this stamp set? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FpV8BmwnIFc.html

I equally love stamps on the envelopes, still attached. It adds character, I think. Sometimes I remove the stamps by soaking them, other times I leave them as is.

Hi Margarete. Is the cereal box cardboard in three pieces (2 covers + the spine) or just one piece folded? Thank you.

Hi Adrienne, No, it isn't one piece, it's 3 separate pieces. I think it's easier for the crease to bend when there is no extra bulk of the cardboard. It's probably possible to skip the spine and just do a front and back. Hope that helps.

I used Liquitex Satin Varnish. I poured a little into a container and then added a few drops of acrylic paint, dark brown, I think. You don't need a lot of paint. You could use any color, just for a hint of tinge.
