Welcome to printing Bud. You scored on that price. That printer will do great for you. When you get to TPU grab the Prusaslicer profiles from my review. It prints TPU beautifully.

Congrats with the printer! I have same one from May this year. Let's say I have a LOT to learn, and still fell as a novice, and this is OK. Stock up with PLA filament with basic colors and enjoy. When you will feel comfortable or need something more resistant than PLA, try PETG. This is whole new animal. (I'm on this point). I figure out tools that I use constantly for 3D printer: Digital calipers; 0.02mm/.008" measure Gage for calibration aand that's it! everything else came with the printer. materials: filament, basic pager glue sticks (large ones), duster in the can to clean printer from pieces of filament, and very light oil to lube z axis. Dusting and lubing depend of the usage. Id' recommend also to print filament guide (lots of ready-to-print-in-place). I find out that simple models (like simple boxes) can be speed-up in print to 150% when I have filament guide. Next thing - print filament clips. helps to keep opened but not used filament neatly together. I'm living far north in Alberta, so I have very low humidity year around. Otherwise large ziplocks and lots of "donoteat" packs might help.

Tinkercad is your friend… half of it is figuring out how to design the shapes you need.

My first print was the cat that was one the SD card that came with mine. Pro-tip: if you’re printing from places like Thingiverse, read the “thing details” so you can change settings in Cura or whatever you’re using relating to supports, printing mode (spiral etc) and top and bottom layers, you’ll need to set those if specified in the instructions, most models don’t require those settings to be changed from default but it’s important to check before you start a 24 hour printing run.

Start out with small prints that take an hour or 2. Clean the printer bed with Isopropyl alcohol before each print. You'll remove any dust, residue and most importantly fingerprints that can cause poor bed adhesion

@Gadget Reboot Another suggestion I have for your printer is to get a set of stronger bed springs. The ones Creality ships on the printer are weak and the bed will loosen up easily. Some put nuts on the printer to keep them from loosening up too. They're are many sellers on Aliexpress and Amazon that sell small upgrade kits that include the springs, Capricorn tubing and some other parts that are useful to do some minor upgrades that sell for a reasonable price and add useful functionality. The Capricorn tube is a better Bowden tube because it will withstand more heat than the stock tube, has less drag and it also has a smaller inner diameter that makes it easier to run TPU filament. I flashed the Jyers UI firmware onto the printer which gives you more functionality and your file names scroll across the screen so you can read the whole file name. Go for the one that has manual mesh bed leveling. It makes it a lot easier leveling the bed. I have the same model printer and after watching lots of videos, I did these 2 upgrades before my first print. You'll enjoy it and you already have the spousal approval angle covered with planned projects for the Mrs.😎

The Ender3 v2 is an extremely solid printer! For someone that also has extremely minimal CAD experience, TinkerCAD is awesome! It's a lot like Lego, but more powerful. I've designed all my models using it, which is a LOT. It's a primitive based modeling thing. Free, and works great. :)

Welcome to world of mystery, confusion, doubt and fear that is what a 3D Printer is. I have a older Ender 3 and the upgrades I needed to to match your next terror, was more that what you paid. I can print just about anything that I have the G-file for. What I need and maybe you is to become proficient so we can generate enough to actually make a project box with holes and slots are in the right place. Looking forward to your first "Real" prints. Keep Broadcasting!!

The creality ender printers are a pretty good place to get into 3D printing. That's a pretty good looking first print pat yourself on the back.

Those ceramic test points look interesting and I will have to pick up a few. The 3D printer looks neat, it will be interesting to see your experience with it.

Yeah when I do remember to add test points to pcb designs, I always end up wishing I had those test points to install so I wouldn't have to solder wires when it's hooked up to 3 other things already. I bought an extra spool of filament so I'm all ready to figure out how to print. Now I need to come up with a project that "needs" something 3D printed for it...

@@GadgetReboot Try custom boxes/trays with dividers for irregular things. My wife have lots of perfume samplers and in exotic containers, so we together designed them in tinkercad and I printed them out. Best training project for me (speed, temperature, retraction, infill, support..). Also can be counters and Dice Tower for boardgames.

@@GadgetReboot One VERY nice Benchy for a 1st. Looks like you need to move the bed up just a tiny bit. Will you go nuts with upgrades? Dual-Z, Direct Drive, Probing? It *WILL* take all your time. Would do it for you if I were in Canananda.
@GadgetReboot
@GadgetReboot Год назад
I struggled with bed adjusting - is the paper too loose? too tight? I was goldilocksing it back and forth, but I'll see about upping it a quarter nudge. The little I heard about upgrades so far says maybe wait and see what's really needed as time goes on - will the hot end break in a month and I should go metal, or will 3 years pass with no issue...etc. I remember seeing something about how dual Z may actually cause more trouble than it fixes but I forget the details. I wouldn't mind if it could auto level itself but it's still way too early to figure things oot.

@@GadgetReboot Your slicer will let you opt for n-many skirt perimeters. You can hot-adjust the "z-offset" while printing from the UI to lower the nizzle while printing. Take heart though, your boot laid down just fine.

@@GadgetReboot You've had a very strong start; I'm positive you'll find it incredibly useful and eventually really enjoyable (wait 'til you start finding uses for flexible parts out of TPU :) )

"Product Design Online" is doing a Fusion 360 course. I think the first 15 minute video teaches you 90% of what you need to start creating your own models. Cheers

White isn't a great type of filament find a color you like for example Grey is the best for most people. Stick to using the same brand and color. Learn everything with that filament then when needed use other colors, test printing small objects with the setting you plan to use on big objects is the best way to go. Example you planning making a Halloween mask print it small or just part of it I like print them small and fine tune your settings that way. Cura is easy to use but prusa slicer is good to learn because of support from community. Sometimes you need to slice it again don't know why it happens but and it's not often but if you find a problem it could just be a slicer issue. Take your time if it's not fun take a break from it. always ask Questions to more than one source.

Congrats on the 3D printer. A very good result for the first print indeed. If you want to design your own models the best video I saw on youtube is "Prototype Enclosures with FreeCAD & OpenSCAD" on OpenTechLab channel.

Tinkercad is probably the easy/simplest, ie, make blocks and cylinders and subtract blocks and cylinders from them, with the CADs being more versatile, ie, you draw it directly. If you're interested, my TC vid is more popular in learning TC than actually knowing how to make a gear - lol -ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zbPYvOk6Geg.html

I'll check it out! Thanks. I'm about to try printing for the second time now, downloaded a case for something. I hope the parts fit together.
