Seemed to me like Jacobs was too reserved in the earlier rounds, even just looking at his jabs which were quite weak. I think if he came out hitting like he did in the latter rounds, this would have been a closer result. For a change, a well deserved victory by Canelo. Let’s see how Golovkin does in June and who knows, a rematch may be on the cards again👊🏻

Jacobs is an absolute disgrace. He signed that contract with the 170lb clause and weighed in at 173. He probably fought near 180. Alvarez weighed 159 and 169 on the rehydration weigh in which was bang on. Jacobs has done this before with triple G and botched that as well. He has given away 650k of his purse and then fought half arsed for the majority of the fight, but he does not care one hoot as he is in a 10 million dollar deal with DAZN. It's disgusting behaviour from a professional and Eddie can say what he wants to defend it. And he does. "Daniel woke up on the morning of the weigh in and found himself to be overweight". Course he did Eddie. You need to stop plying these fighters with mega deals and start getting them to respect themselves, their opponents and us. It will never happen where money is concerned. And regardless of judges scores, Canelo has comprehensively out boxed and out punched Jacobs. I dunno what the judges were seeing but it was not what happened. There were multiple occasions where Jacobs is square on, not moving and taking big punches. He is not in the same class. And further; Eddie is in protection mode with Jacobs. They have signed a huge deal with an already soured fighter who has screwed up again. Eddie must realise that the jig is up and I expect Jacobs next fight to be an easy win / knockout. They will get their 5 fight deal, but it is filthy. Now think of this; a 10 million dollar 5 fight deal given to a fighter who has only ever won and lost vacant belts. I don't know who is bank rolling DZN but they are either thick or they have money to burn.

Dude had too much respect for Canelo. I think if he had stayed in there more, risking getting hit, while unleashing more of his own punches, he could have won this thing. He was never going to win if it went to the cards.

Round 9 and 11 to Jacobs, but Canelo really showed us why he's the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in his weight class. Great fight.

I've never seen this bloke Jacobs fight before, so I have no idea of how he has conducted himself in the past, but he sure impressed me with the dignity he displayed in this fight. The little nod of acknowledgement towards his opponent when he got tagged with a good shot was, in my book, pretty damned classy.

I think the only middleweight who has a decent shot at beating Canelo at this point is probably Billy Joe Saunders, but he’s moved up to 168 and doesn’t have a belt. If Jacobs couldn’t pull it off, no one at 160, other than GGG stands a chance against Canelo. He could try to go after one of the belts at 168, or move further up and face Kovalev lol. I could even see Canelo moving up to Cruiserweight, if he really wanted to. He could do anything.

Jacobs face was marked up bad, but dark skin hides it...His right eye was swollen from that strong short left of Canelo catching him clean the entire first half of the fight. Jacobs extra weight helped him absorbing Canelo's punishing body attack and helped Jacobs even survive the first half of the fight. Second half was Canelo getting tired out by Jacob's weight advantage and not much notable really happening. Jacobs couldn't land anything meaningful on Alvarez, got some decent body work in after Canelo was tired. Jacobs was almost as tired, he couldn't match or exceed Alvarez's aggression. It went 12 because of the weight difference mainly. Alvarez saved his energy and stayed out of trouble in the later rounds. Jacobs needed a late knockdown or knockout but he rarely was able to press Alvarez enough to go on the attack himself . Alvarez was too strong for Jacobs to hurt him and Jacobs couldn't do enough in the later rounds to overcome the beating he was taking early in the fight. It was very close in the second half but reality is that Jacob's face was busted up and it was concealed by the dark skin, if he had white skin his face would be red and right eye looking G- awful. Canelo deserved the win, Jacobs did well.

This was a different Canelo than in the GGG fight. With GGG he could not be offensive, GGGhas super power. Great fight but I still believe GGG is the best .

This is one fight that Alvarez actually won on points but anyone else in the ring in that 9th round and they would have been spark out. Alvarez is tough I'll give him that. GGG 3 but has to be somewhere neutral as no point bothering.
