It's because calling your siblings by "older/younger brother/sister" is pretty common in Asian countries specially China while in Europe or America you wouldn't really do that, you would just use their name.
2:21 in the English dub, i feel like Lumine's voice had a feeling of revenge and anger towards the God whereas Aether's voice is filled with sadness and grief.
Well in all other trailer it seems that the canon story is that Aether is the one who try to save Lumine, While Lumine herself is more focus to have revenge against the unknown God. You can actually see it in trailer "Teyfat story: Travail" where Dansleif explain the story of each current and future chapter, in that trailer it seems Dansleif is conversing with Aether rather than Lumine. Another example is in trailer called "We will be reunited" the one who ride the Ruin Guard and respected by the abyss mage is Lumine. So in other word we the player are suppose to choose Aether if you want to follow the canon storyline.
*And even then i still dont liek Zack's voice...* (I like dubs and all but i dont like Zacks voice but this is one is one of hsi better ones along with Genos)
I thought it will start with Japanese dub and I was surprised by the English dub. I thought I'd have to play with English dub. The n saw the setting options. Now I switch between Japanese and English. I really like both
i feel like the use of “oppa” has been turned into a joke or meme of some sorts in the west because of all the kpop fans. feels weird to me bc it’s literally just a normal word i use to call my older brother
@@sketchy._.7595 actually for some people it's not bcz the kpop fans..it's bcz in his/her native language (Indonesian) oppa means grandpa,,,so it's kinda weird and just not used to it so....
Lumine's english voice is so full of emotion. When she shouted give my brother back. I felt a zap of electricity in my soul. Damn, I love her english voice.
@@japanesecurrency1486 If you want to hear more of Lumine's English VA, they actually voiced the Traveler's discussions with Paimon in the Character Menu in the 1.1 Update! I've been going through them since the update came out and it's so nice to hear the Traveler have actual conversations lmao
@@CrAzYGAMINGWOLF same, but i think paimon might be the only iffy english VA funnily enough- everyone else is atleast decent, with some genuinely good ones in there too
English voice of Lumine just holds so much emotion in it. In the (small spoiler) Venti cutscene with La Signora, she sounds so worried and scared when she yells venti it just gives an unreal amount of emotion for a character that doesnt even talk
@@equalhealer8584 yeah also, Lumine refers to Aether as Nii-Chan/Ge (older brother) while Aether refers to Lumine as Imouto/Mei (younger sister) so it can be assumed Aether is the older twin
@@volphinaserafina yup. I know the meaning of the Japanese part, but not the chinese part. Just that i haven't noticed it by now, until you point it out.
same, but only because I'm literally Chinese lol. Though my first language is still English, there's something comforting about characters speaking Chinese.
Idk why, but their voices in the Chinese dub sound so much more calming compared to the other ones ( they're all amazing, i'm just talking about the vibe ), or is it just me?
Because in Chinese, the same pronunciation has four tones to express different meanings. In order to express the meaning accurately, the emotional expression of Chinese is weaker than that of Japanese
@@k423kaslana7 Oh! I am studying Chinese so I have heard how different emotions are expressed even with the tones. But you are certainly correct, sometimes the emotional expression iS a bit weaker, but I found it fitting in this case? Like, Aether/Lumine have just woken up from such a long time of being knocked out, them speaking with lots of emotion would be a bit draining so having a subdued emotion seemed to fit them? Maybe it's just because I've just been using the Chinese audio for my game tho >
@@k423kaslana7 As a Chinese I want to explain: when we Chinese want to express deep feelings like love, sincerity, tiredness, disappointed, loneliness, sadness, we tend to speak slowly and softly, the more you speak lower and softer, the more emotions you have, that's why some people think Chinese voices sounds calm, it's a culture thing.
@@jznn8218 Is that why the chinese salesmen I can see are usually shouting and/or talking in a loud voice? Because there's no deep feelings in selling things? (Genuinely curious now since you said that)
@@idontknowyet2875 Well, when it gets involved with business that will be another story. The reasons why people in service industry are rude to their customers probably are: 1.they're tired of their jobs. 2. their salaries are too low that they don't have the desire to treat their customers well. 3. they don't get any professional training about serving people. 4.they are in bad mood and they can't control their feelings.
_Okay, but, why is no one talking about Lumine and Aether’s Korean voice actors? They did a pretty great job, and I think their voices suits perfectly, it's so sad to know that this is the most underrated language._ ☹️
Now I'm happy I chose to play female mc with Chinese voice acting from the start because I feel like it just suits her the most. (Probably because I'm so used to it now though)
And for some reason only if you are playing with chineese dub Traveler's "Voice over" is actully fully voiced... JUST WHY??? AND ALSO WHY THOSE VOICE LINES DON'T PLAY IN-GAME????
@@Sikee6338 it doesn't answer my question. In translated dubs they just left Traveler's dialogues with Pimon unvoiced when they were fully voiced in chineese dub
I really love the voice in japanese and Chinese.. I love to hear Aether and Paimon's conversation in the Profile in Chinese.. I'm sad that they didn't record them in Japanese too
well both of their va did an incredible job at giving the mc their characters aether's voice seems like he's still grieving and sad whilst lumine voice seems like she already pass most of the grieving part, and much more determine to find out what happen to her brother
Fun fact: Chinese version "give my brother/sister back", the VAs said "把我的哥哥/妹妹...(还给我)" literally means "give my brother/sister...(back)", they don't even have enough time to finish their line, which is more sad to me.
it's similar to the Japanese version of "give my brother/sister back". they didn't have the time to finish their lines, so it hangs in "my brother/sister!!" 『よくも俺の妹!!/よくも私のお兄ちゃんは!!』But it's sadder in Lumine's part, because while Aether seems to be stopping at "What about my sister!", Lumine's words were cut off more like; "My brother is-" ((I really love miHoYo's grief portrayal here))
Tbh it's a friggin' crime I don't hear more of the MC voice. Both male and female (I play in Chinese) sounds so pleasant to me -- they wasted these voice actors man. I play female mc and my gf plays male mc, and both of them I was like: sounds SO nice. Paimon's cute but I'd much rather listen to the MC.
yeah. Its kind of the rpg self insert thing where the writers don't know if they want the main character to be completely silent or give them a personality. Also if you want to hear the main character voice more just check their profile as they have conversation with paimon about thing which is kind of cool but it suck they only say like 5 words in every other chapter or so.
It's really interesting that even though they're twins, aether is called older brother and lumine younger sister (in Chinese, Japanese and Korean). I think it's because in those languages, they specify age in siblings. There isn't a direct translation for just "sister" or "brother".
At least in Chinese when there are different sex twins male one will always be called older and female will always be called younger it's about hierarchy not age really.
@@papkinn I'm not sure about that actually; I've seen many twins where the sister is older than the brother, she's called 姐姐 and the brother's called 弟弟, translating to older sis and younger brother. So no, not hierarchy, at least from the examples I've encountered.
in Chinese voice,Paimon's voice actor is 多多poi, who also gives voice to the Honkai Impact character Rozaliya·Olenyeva. And heroine's actor is 宴宁,who gives voice to Liliya·Olenyeva, the sister of Rozalita.
What I found out through all these comparison videos is that all the Chinese VAs are SERIOUSLY underrated despite being the original voices and, in my opinion, the best voices for each character. Oh yeah and also a lot of people assume this was a Japanese game lol
Interesting in the JPN version Lumine said "Oni-chan" and Aether said "Imouto" implying Aether is the older twin. Lumine also said "Oppa" in the Korean dub which is how females say older brother or address older males.
@@iamthethebeginningiamtheen9555 I think that's actually why they used the addresses in the first place. the original language was actually Chinese after all
When lumine says "Don't go give my brother back" in EN her voice is breaking. You can feel her despair, sadness, fear in her voice. It's very beautiful 😍
Different Version~ All English Timestamps: 1:10 1:42 2:22 4:26 All Japanese Timestamps: 1:11 1:52 2:53 5:36 All Chinese Timestamps: 1:13 2:02 3:27 4:49 All Korean Timestamps: 1:15 2:13 3:57 5:13
These two characters have such good VAs in all languages...the game is so new, I hope we'll be hearing more of their voices as the story progresses. I'm super glad that the VAs from every country are really engaged with the community! I love hearing them sing song covers and interact with fans on livestreams.
I really like Lumine’s ENG voice line for, “Wait! Don’t go! Give my brother back!“ like that little choke at the end with her line makes it so emotional to me 😭 I also really like the performances of both CN voice actors for both of them (same line mentioned before) Aether sounds really panicked especially at the beginning and frustrated at the end, and Lumine sounds sad especially when her voices slightly fades out
I‘m choosing the Korean brother one even I don't know what they're saying, because I think that is suitable for music and RPG genre, also the brother sounds really like a ''young brother"(kinda cute). And other characters just sound "nature", Japanese voice just sounds kinda overexpression for me.
I'm biased, but I absolutely love the Chinese. Their voices are softer, and more subdued making them less annoying to listen to for long periods of time. Especially in the "Give my Sibling Back!" scene, the chinese lines are just so good... It directly translates to something along the lines of "Wait, don't go! Take my sibling..." (more colloquial English - "Wait, don't go! Give me my sibling...") and tapering off as if they lost hope. It leaves us hanging, expecting the MC to finish the sentence with "Wait, don't go! Take my sibling and give them back to me!" (Wait, don't go! Give me my sibling back!). Instead of finishing, it tapers of and leaves you hanging. Hits right into the kokoro :') I also think that ENG Lumine and JPN Aether was good. The Korean VAs did a good job, but it felt a little rushed and the emotional beats didn't hit right (not used to listening to the language I guess). ENG Aether was a little too anime Shonen protag and JPN Lumine was a little shrill. Despite my personal opinions, all the VAs did a wonderful job and we should celebrate their hard work! (Still gonna say CN was the best, probably the "ideal"/"original" casting, eh. We all have differing opinions :D)
''等等!别走!把我的妹妹-'' I resonate more with the Chinese.. Edit: im gonna wait until they add all language voice over for Aether and Paimon in the Voice over section..
Aether's Japanese VA sounds so good; actually sounds like it suits the character unlike the English one. I think both English and Japanese VA of Lumine sounds good too. UGH this game is marvelous!!!
1:52-1:56! Aoi Yuuki!! I saw this before I knew who Lumine’s VA was, but I immediately recognized Aoi Yuuki there... That’s how she sounds as Tachibana Hibiki (Symphogear)! I really like hearing them in their different voices, although I really like all versions of them. It’s hard to pick a favorite!
