REASONS YOU WOULD NEED TO CHANGE THE RUBBER DIAPHRAGM:
- The rubber diaphragm has split. When you open the hot tap and call for hot water, the water flows through the diverter, pushes against the diaphragm, pushes the pin out of the front nut and then activates the hot water microswitch. However, if the rubber diaphragm has split, then the water will not have the same effect when pushing against it, meaning the hot water microswitch doesn't get activated, ultimately leaving the consumer with no hot water.
- There is water leaking around the pressure differential valve.

One additional step I'd recommend is to open a hot tap to relieve the water pressure before undoing the screws, ideally at a point lower than the boiler.

Good video well explained, my only suggestion would be to point out the water scale build up under the rubber diaphragm may require cleaning off in some cases.

Really informative video, I checked my diaphragm and it looks ok but 6 out of my 7 hot taps start the boiler the other one doesn’t push the pin out far enough to close the microswitch , also 2 out of 3 of my showers are the same, any ideas?

Iv got water coming out a little hole behind where it joins the diverter valve, will this solve that?

It's very similar on the old Glow Worm Compacts ( not the current one. These were from the late 1990s) Hot water diaphragms lasted about two years so we carried a handful in van stock.

is this the problem when you have to have your heating on before you can get hot from the tap

Thats what I've experienced, and if you don't swap this part, then it can lead to water dripping from the front of the diaphram casing. I have replaced this part every couple of years... (I've always worked from home, so the boiler is in heavy use!)
