Main Street Electrical Parade November 25, 1996 

This was one of the best and most surreal nights of my life. I was 12 years old at the time. My Mom won VIP tickets to this event. It was not open to the general public, the park had closed early that day. After the parade was over a small group of us were allowed back into the park for several hours to ride as many rides as we wanted. I got to experience Disneyland with zero lines, practically had the entire park all to myself. It felt like I had died and gone to heaven. To this day I can hardly believe that actually happened.

I saw the Main Street Electrical Parade for the first and only time in the summer of '96. My Dad confessed to me just before it started that he always wanted to see it after watching it on TV when he was 10(1974); just as I had when I first saw it on TV when I was 8(1989). That night, I was 14 and my Dad 32, and we shared the fulfillment of a childhood dream. Later that evening we got home in time for the late news where they aired the announcement of the Parade's end later that year.

This footage is sacred. Everyone screaming their head off. One last run. This an atmosphere compared to a Beatles concert.

It’s been 23 years. I shall never forget this day. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to be in attendance for this historic night.

I saw the parade in February 2017 (it's August 2017) and it was so beautiful I love everything about it especially the music

This is Disneys Best Parade to ever run on both DisneyLand and Magic Kingdoms Property. SpectroMagic didn't have ENOUGH Magic, Light Magic, it only lasted one season so not much to say there, and Paint the Night doesn't have very good music at all. This parade has it all... Great floats, VERY Catchy Music, and all the Magic it needs for a Disney Parade. It's no surprise that Magic Kingdom and DisneyLand Tokyo are still running it.

Bring back the original version!

That’s same year when we saw this parade the Peter Pan float broke down got to hear the music a little longer

@almandot iirc whatever he did there he also did after the 1st parade at the town square gate as well.

well last night was closeing time for msep at wdw and should be on her way home real soon.

from what i understand upon getting of his float at both ends of theb route he stood by the gate and watched the rest of the parade and apparently saisd something after each performance. as to what was swaid idk.

sounds like you were watching the same 4th of July special i watched. such a shame they used they cut to commercial duruing the Small World section (btw the parade footage you saw on TV was actually recyled from the previous yuear's special

@Geeker1982 this parade has been going on for along time this generation maybe moving on from the parade....and it has been switching back and forth from DL and WDW and during that time they make improvements to the parade and introduce new floats ect..i wouldnt be surprised if there using the time referbishing spectromagic while that parade is there...i heard spectromagic was in DLP or TDL and they havent used it so they might be getting advanced lighting etc...

just re-watched this last night and saw that the blue & Pink Mushrooms didn't take part in the 2nd parade,

Now it's an abandoned parade. But they still do it in Florida.

but isn't the one that is going to Disneyland not the original ? didn't they get rid of the blue fairy and add tinker bell

This is a main stay of Disney's Night Time Magic, and (We retired them lamps when the parade left for FL. the last time), whether the MSEP is on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom Fl. or at home, on Main Street U.S.A Ca. re-LAMPED With the new in sync LED Lamps of every color, fiber, oh and other tricks of the trade, This Parade that has gone back and forth, east to west, and again, needs all the due respect Disney fans can muster, and keep it on the Street's both east and west, Fresh and New for Generations to come.
