The intro rolls in quietly and then all the sudden, a sledgehammer hits, the Corellian Corvette being assaulted by that Star Destroyer, not a peep from any child during that whole movie. Could not keep my eyes from leaving the screen for a nanosecond.

I was 7 when SW came out. Dad said "I'm taking you to see a movie tonight". The fact that he was so secretive about it and built it up made me suspicious. Being suspicious made me think it was a trick, and I wouldn't like it. So finally he told me the title.....Star Wars. But because I was already upset and suspicious, I thought the title was about celebrities. "STARS=CELEBRITIES". At that time, Battle of the Network Stars was a big thing on TV. Celebrities competing in sports and games. So he forced me to go. I threw a tender tantrum. Didn't want to go. Then I got to the theater, and saw the movie poster. I stood there, mouth wide open, mesmerized. Watched the movie, and was addicted. Later, I had to have every toy, and Star Wars became a big part of my childhood from 1977 to around 1983 when I started to outgrow it. Now I have SW stuff for fun. And this May, will go to the Star Wars experience at Disney.

Wow! Just incredible! - I'm back at the old Odeon cinema in Leicester in 1978 with my dad, and my mind is blown. My normally very down to earth, working class dad is awestruck too! The music, the imagery, characters, story, the HEART, the sheer excitement, electricity and good energy that was in the air both in the cinema, and in the streets for this film across all ages was UNIQUE. My dad and I have this as a special moment. The generation that saw this film back in the 70's, when it was fresh were TRULY blessed and I will NEVER forget it!!!

John Williams's work certainly enlivens Star Wars to a capacity of success it never would have otherwise enjoyed. John understood what George wanted but be gently pressed him to let him write his own thing; George wanted an old opera piece called Planets or something. Williams told George to let him come up with something inspired by it. Although they bear resemblance, this is head and shoulders above anything else prior. This is galvanizing!

Star Wars had been out all summer in '77 but I didn't see it until November, and even then only as an impulse because I had nothing better to do that evening. The movie was experiencing a second wave at the time so it was a packed house, in a very fancy, old school, single screen theater downtown with balconies, chandeliers, a stage, a killer sound system, and actual curtains that dramatically parted when the movie began. When the lights went down, the first notes of this fabulous theme music started, the movie began (projected through the curtains for the first few seconds), and the curtains parted, it was a memorable moment indeed.

My story of seeing them live: It was Roskilde Festival 1997 and it was Sunday around noon. 19 year old me had just come to life after another crazy night of partying (the 6th in a row) and I didn´t feel like doing anything, except calling it a day and going home. Thankfully a friend of mine convinced me to go with him, to see them on what back then on was known as Green Stage (the second largest they have and the biggest of the tents). I came down as un-enthusistic and hung over as I could be and we just had time to knock down a few before the concert started. It was a pretty much packed tent and even in the crazy festival days of the 90´s, this was a crowd that went nuts for them. These (mostly teenagers) weren´t the kind of people to ever set foot in a concert hall, but I tell you, it was a crazy party, especially when they played this and "March of the Empire" back to back. At the end, I just had to admit that it was the best thing I´d seen at the entire festival, despite it being stacked with bands like Radiohead, Oasis, Daft Punk and god knows how many other big acts of the 90´s.

Imagine being in a music theatre in 1977 and this plays as soon as the opening crawl rolls! What a time to be alive!

I was 15 and it was completely out of this world nothing ever compares to the thrill today, I have watched the film and listen to this a dozen times a year since and never get sick of it, literally hundreds of times what a great job by the orchestra and conductor every time I hear this I feel like a boy again
