The arm was so hard. we slept in theNotch as we had thunder storms and climbed it wet the next day. So bad. But those are the things you remember the most. My nephew Nickels summited today. Woohoo!

Yay! Congrats to Nickels!! And to Frizzle! Stick sent me a picture of them at Katahdin today and so happy that they finished together. Who would have thought that Nickel's getting sick in CT and having to slow down, combined with Frizzle pushing to make the trail magic for Stick (and friends!) Would result in them staying together for the last 600 miles! Stick will hopefully make it 9 for 9 for the tramily summits in late Sept ... what an accomplishment given how early in the trail they all met. Hooray for Nickels! 😀🎉

I binge watched the videos today. Beautiful views; great teamwork through the presidential range and the rest of the whites. Congratulations on finishing New Hampshire and conquering the Mahoosuc Notch, one step and one climb at a time. I am so glad you are taking a zero after that adventure. The end is so near and you want to enjoy it and be ready for that last climb. I have been checking out the maps as you go through the states to see where you were.

Congrats on getting from GA to ME! I thought the day before the Notch was harder than the Notch itself. The notch was fun but it would be brutal lifting and lowering a big dog. The arm wasn’t fun at all. A SOBO guy lost his dog in the Notch in the storm the night before we got there. They found each other by the time we got to them in the morning, but it was a long night for both of them.

I just started following around episode 112 or something like that. So I’ve been keeping up with your daily vids as well as going back and checking out the earlier ones. I’m a 51 year old section hiker for the moment with aspirations of hiking the entire AT and man let me tell you, I am enjoying following along on this journey. Incredibly inspiring. Congrats on crossing into Maine🎉 The saying is true, no pain, no Maine. Do you have any antibiotic cream or something to clean out that raspberry? Probably dont want an infection at this point from a not very clean fanny pack rubbing into it. I hope you guys get some good rest before tackling the wilderness. And at that point, we probably wont get many videos if any depending on service Im guessing. Videos have been about a week behind I think. Awesome accomplishment to finish NH and showing us so much of the Notch and how you navigated it with Leo. Congrats! So wish a local could have had a drone for that experience! On the other hand, you know you best, and so far it has worked and you are almost done, but pushing yourself to do the Arm as well seemed like a poor decision. Lately is seems like the number of miles is driving you more than the terrain you are covering. A 10 mile day, including a fall on the last mountain in NH and the commonly referred to hardest mile on the entire trail with the Notch would have been plenty. While I am a novice at hiking, I would think your total ascent may be the greater indicator of a tough day and true accomplishment vs the number of miles. Other hikers have used "smiles over miles" and you didn't really seem to enjoy that last climb and then it appeared to be getting too dark to reward yourself with that swim. You have nothing left to prove to anyone. Slowing down over this terrain seems to be expected and if it comes with less falls because you are no longer rushing, that would be good thing. Glad to see a rest day coming up, and whatever you do, we are with you and Leo till the end, but do want to see this end the right way and not by a fall in the wrong place. Wishing you both safety first, enjoyment and making memories second, miles, at best, third.

I am so afraid of climbing down in those caves! Maybe if I were with other people I wouldn’t be as afraid. Good job getting you both through. It’s like a giant puzzle. There was a dead moose in the Notch when we went through. He was ‘way down in the rocks below. Rumor had it that the year before, someone had climbed down and put a cigarette in its mouth. And I fell in the Notch. I thought I was gonna land on my face and knock my teeth out. Instead I scraped my arm raw from elbow to wrist.

The Notch, the Arm and the views - Maine is a whole 'nother critter. You and Leo are doing great. There's a story - don't know how true or accurate it is - about goose Eye Mountain. It seems when the geese take off from water bodies east of the mountain, many of them barely are able to gain enough altitude to male it over Goose Eye mountain, some by as little as three feet. According to the story, the original name was 'Goose High.' The end of the journey is nigh. Be well, stay safe. 🥾
